I believe it's just Mussorgsky's Night On A Bare Mountain which you could listen to separately. I haven't seen Fantasia, though I really would like to, and I really would like to watch more films, but I just don't have time/am not really much of a film buff anyway, but I've realized now that they are a cornerstone and essential part of trivia, also they can help you answer questions on books which have been made into films. Yes, Mr. Moore was truly a fine actor who contributed a lot of things to the entertainment industry. Tomorrow will be two years since he passed. Very talented and remarkable man. Just stopped by to make sure Bernard wasn't causing any trouble on his blog. He is so totally out of control, I just thought I would check and make sure. Just clowning around, Bernard! You big trivia bully! :-p You can even the score by dropping by the Bar and Grill over on General Chat Street to check up on me to make sure I'm not running roughshod all over my patrons and just going totally out of control over there. Got free buckets of the finest grog known to mankind going on over there right now. :-) My team has a "bar" thread which is run by one of our players and our team captain who is from Australia. I'm always stopping in and ordering an extra large bucket of grog and a large bowl of vegemite with a tablespoon. :-p Reply #405. May 22 19, 6:55 AM |

I wish I could remember the last movie I went to. The people who go to the movies now can't seem to sit still, shut their pie holes, or stay off their cell phones long enough to watch a movie. I really should go get a new DVR and watch movies at home :) Reply #406. Jun 22 19, 12:10 AM |

The difference in behavior (concerning movie theaters) across the pond is probably better management and enforcing rules. Parents here have become deaf and dumb when it comes to their kids behavior. Restaurants are even worse. Discipline has become too lax in the USA. Reply #408. Jun 22 19, 8:30 PM |

I don't think that it necessarily would be either good or bad. It would, however, present complications that need to be considered, such as the passing away of family members that you mentioned. The classic "Twilight Zone" episode "Long Live Walter Jameson" gets into some of the thorny issues. But I can think of other things to consider besides just that. What if you were aged and invalid for all eternity? Eternal life does not necessarily mean eternal youth and vigor. What would mortals think about you getting to live forever when they couldn't? Wouldn't you be forced to somehow keep your immortality a secret? Fake your death from time to time and assume a new identity? And if you did that, wouldn't an ex-spouse from an old identity present a danger to you in some way if you were discovered by them. Is there a distinction between potential immortality (you *could* be immortal *if* certain things are true, but some things (like bullets) might still kill you) versus absolute immortality (*nothing* can kill you, no matter what). Imagine a whole world full of absolutely immortal people. Would that be a good thing if there was no way anyone could die? Check out "Long Live Walter Jameson" (available on Netflix and many other places) to see many of these questions explored. Reply #412. Jan 08 20, 9:11 PM |

In regards to just movies, I liked "Interview With The Vampire" with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise on this immortality issue. Cruise's Lestat was a very enthusiastic vampire, but Pitts' Louis was quite upset about his particular "gift" of immortality. Louis taking care of his dying blind father in 18th century France is one touching scene in the movie. Reply #413. Jan 08 20, 9:17 PM |

Highlander, yes. That is one classic '90s show. Swordfights, immortality and all its ramifications, beautiful scenery, and of course a Queen soundtrack. It didn't have the budget of today's mega-hits, but that is probably for the best, it allowed the show to explore so many issues. Plus, it came at just the right time, before everything was digitised. Nowadays the issue of creating a whole new identity would be immensely more complicated. And as a bonus, because it was a part-French production, the back half of each season was set in Paris. Reply #416. Jan 13 20, 9:54 PM |

Roger Daltrey, of course. They also had Joan Jett guest star in one of the early episodes. And the guy who plays Xavier, his name escapes me right now, is also in a band. Fine Young Cannibals, if I remember correctly. Reply #418. Jan 14 20, 3:22 AM |
