Kind of excited about wearing one of my new dresses tomorrow, probably the denim popover. Of course then the problem becomes, can I find a slip? But that's a good problem to have. /smile/

Wonderful news about being up and around again, Cat!

And congratulations on not being able to say no to another Lounge project - you know you'll enjoy it especially since it fits so well with quizzes you've been researching and doing.

Thanks, Dagny. Well, we'll see about the new challenge. If you never hear from me again, you'll know why. LOL

The first time I tried hard core I didn't play them all and realised I was borderline for a badge without a great effort but hadn't played enough by the end. I tried twice more and didn't even get close playing them all.

Funnily enough we went to see Roy Orbison in the Harrow ABC in 1963 which I just remember, and I found the actual programme online, which has every programme for the entire concerts of the era in one place. I didn't know the day but did know no one else appeared, while he played there a few times with the biggest names of the time. We also saw Freddy and the Dreamers there first but too early for me to remember.

Cat, I love The Vermont Country Store. They have so many things that you can't get anymore, and so many types of things.... clothing, 100% cotton fitted sheets (not part of a set), toiletries, home furnishings, and even old-time foods. I'm happy you've found some pretty, and practical, dresses.

Yes, Postie, isn't it a great store? Last night I needed to call them and, not only do you get a recording from the proprietor but, while on hold, you get to listen to old radio commercials from the '30s. Great fun, and ever so much better than that muck you usually have to listen to as hold music. Somehow I manage not to spend all my money at the Candy Counter, but it's a sore trial.

Oh, Mira, don't encourage me! LOL

satguru, I applaud anyone brave enough to try Hard Core, no matter where they end up in the rankings. It takes more discipline than I have.

Seeing Roy Orbison in concert must have been great! It's amazing what you can find online these days, so it doesn't surprise me that you found the program from the very concert you attended.

The other morning I was humming while getting dressed, as one does; in this case, Johnny Rivers’ “Summer Rain.” Came around to the bridge:

“All summer long we spent groovin’ in the sand
Da da da someone kept playing ‘Dr. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’”

Kept humming along. Came back around to the bridge:

“...people kept playing ‘Dr. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’” Rewind ‘Dr. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’

Wait! What?

‘Dr. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts...’ ... ? ... /insert lighting light bulb/ Ooooooooh...! Sgt. Pepper! Right.

Oh brother, did I feel dumb!

Oh, I don't know... I wouldn't mind having a Dr. Pepper while listening to Sgt Pepper and Johnny Rivers.

Should I change this blog's name to Cat's Bar and Grill? /grin/

In a way this was a wasted weekend, in that I did not start my movie quiz, nor finish my album order quiz or adopted common bond. On the other hand, I conceptualized, picked out the songs and found all the photos for a photo match game.

But that one will have to wait till the movie quiz goes up (for the May painting) and the common bond, just to get the derned thing finished and done with. And the quiz after that is going to be something kind'a special... Shhh...it's a surprise. Then I can settle back into my pen gleaning my teaming brain (with apologies to Keats). I just have soooooo many ideas! And I'm so glad there are now all these new formats to play with. It really gives a person more scope.

On the other hand, sometimes I'm a dunderhead! Ever since my dogs photo quiz went up, I've been meaning to swap a couple of the photos, so a different one is in Q.1 and so is, so to speak, the face of the quiz. Today, I finally got around to swapping Qs 1 and 2 except, wait for it, to do so it was necessary to take the quiz temporarily offline and, yes, when I finished and pressed save the quiz did indeed enter the cue. What an idiot not to remember that! Now I suppose it will lose all its play stats. The statement that to change photos required taking the quiz offline should have raised a red flag and set off an alarm saying, "Stop! Contact an editor!" Oh well. Live and learn I suppose.

Being the angel that she is, Rossian cleaned up the mess I made of that quiz before reprimanding me. Of course, that makes me feel all the worse. I've learned my lesson though. Always ask an editor. It's better for an editor to be mildly irritated at a silly question than to cause her extra work and trouble, and get her mad at you to boot.

Haven't been feeling well lately - gastrointestinal upset, joint aches, headache. And yesterday I woke up feeling as though I hadn't slept in a month. Can't remember ever being so exhausted. Spent pretty much all yesterday sleeping. I don't think it's related to the bad air quality from the Canadian forest fires, but you never know. That probably does account for my eyes feeling unusually dry and irritated. Like they said on the news this morning, this is just the start of the fire season. One shudders to think what it's going to be like as the summer progresses!

It's also troubling that the number of stupid mistakes I make has been on the rise. The fiasco with the quiz is only the most egregious in recent memory. Of course, everybody makes mistakes sometimes, but for me, 'sometimes' seems to have become 'fairly often'.

Okay, enough whinging for now. Back to quiz writing.

Cat, the air is horrible. It's causing sore throats, dry eyes and headaches. I have great sympathy, and much worry, for those with lung problems. We are being told it will be much better by the weekend. In the meantime, I'm staying indoors, with the windows shut. I'm thankful for FT, because it's an activity that doesn't require heavy breathing (ha-ha).

Indeed, Postie, so many vulnerable people. The medical correspondent on CNN said earlier in the week to wear N95 mask, because the particulate matter is so fine it can get, not only into the lungs, but into the bloodstream and cause heart problems. And I worry about the animals too, and the birds. What's this doing to their poor little lungs?

Fun Trivia is definitely a refuge. It's my favorite place.

Dad's surgery is coming up on Monday. So, please polish up those prayers, good vibes, juju, whatever your thing is.

Besides the concerns about a nearly-ninety--year-old having surgery, we are also concerned that his cat, Priscilla, won't eat while he's away. He will be in the hospital one night for certain, and possibly more depending on what they find and how well he does.

Priscilla doesn't eat hard food like the other kitties, only special soft food that needs to be prepared. The problem is, she only likes Dad. She has come, graciously, to tolerate Sis and me, but her idea of tolerance is stopping and giving us the evil eye before stalking off on her business. She is NOT going to like being called for her meals by Sis! And, if she knew Sis prepared those meals, oh my goodness, she'd have a major hissy fit! As it is, just having Sis's hand touch the dish to put it down for her will probably be enough for her to flip out. I mean, 'PEOPLE GERMS! EEK!' So, that's another concern. She'll be upset that Dad isn't here and she probably won't eat. Just one more thing to add to the worry and concern list.

This afternoon I signed up for NFB News Line, a service provided by the National Federation of the Blind that provides news in accessible form. There's so much available right here in Massachusetts, not to mention national and international sources. It will be interesting to explore.

My current bedtime reading is "The Complete Sherlock Holmes". Of course I've read all the stories before, though it was startling to find I had forgotten the denouement of "The
Five Orange Pips". It's a touch creepy. While scouting out the subcat before writing my Sherlock Holmes quiz, I noticed that there aren't very many. Counting mine, there are nineteen quizzes in Sherlock Holmes Individual Stories. Maybe someone should suggest to Kyle a commission or challenge or whatever to make sure there's at least one quiz on every story and novella.
