Steve Hislop win was also Norton's 1st win since 1973 on the TT. In a recent Fan poll, this race between Fogerty and Hislop was voted one of the greatest in the Isle of Man TT history.

Joey and his friends were traveling to the Isle of Man from Northeren Ireland in a fishing boat which sank. Luckily they were rescued by the Portaferry lifeboat. The bikes were recovered from the wreck, and were able to compete in the races after an overhaul.
