Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I told Simba that he would become king of Pride Rock one day. Who voiced me?

Answer: James Earl Jones

Jones, born on January 17, 1931 in Arkabutla, Mississippi reprised his role of voicing Mufasa from the 1994 animated film. Mufasa was an honorable king of Pride Rock and mentioned to Simba that he would one day become king. Simba wondered if this meant he could do whatever he wanted but Mufasa said a wise king was more giving than taking.

In one scene, Mufasa saved Simba and Nala when they wound up being chased by three hyenas. Mufasa ended up dying when he climbed a cliff to escape from a stampede.

His sadistic brother, Scar, caused him to fall to his death. In his final scene, Mufasa appeared from the sky to encourage Simba to return to Pride Rock and take his place as king. Jones was cast in the films "The Sandlot", "Field of Dreams" and "Conan the Barbarian" (1982).

In 1971 Jones was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role in "The Great White Hope" but lost to George C. Scott for "Patton".
2. Simba told me we were going to the water hole. Who voiced me?

Answer: Shahadi Wright Joseph

Joseph, a native of Brooklyn, New York got the part of a young Nala. Nala and Simba were great friends and Simba told her one day that he wanted to go to the water hole. That being said, Nala knew he was fibbing since the water hole was a dull place. He mentioned to her that they were going to visit an elephant graveyard.

While at the graveyard, the two nearly got killed by three hyenas. Mufasa intervened and told Simba he put Nala in danger. Joseph had roles in the movies "Come Find Me" and "Us".

She also guest starred on the TV series "Them".
3. I nearly got killed in a stampede. Who voiced me?

Answer: JD McCrary

McCrary, born in 2007 in Granada Hills, California voiced the role of young Simba. Simba was intrigued about going to an elephant graveyard so he darted off there with Nala. Prior to going to the elephant graveyard, he sang the song, "I Just Can't Wait to be King".

After the incident at the graveyard, Simba was seen in a gorge and Scar encouraged him to practice his roar. When he did, he produced a little high pitched roar that appeared to trigger a stampede. A bunch of wildebeests stampeded into the gorge and Simba thought his roar triggered it (Scar had set this up). Mufasa got to the gorge and saved Simba from being trampled to death but Mufasa died during the stampede. McCrary had guest starring stints on the TV shows "Teachers", "I'm Dying Up Here" and "K.C. Undercover".
4. I advised Scar that he was overhunting. Which actress voiced me?

Answer: Alfre Woodard

Woodard, born on November 8, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma was cast in the voice role of Sarabi. Sarabi first appeared when Simba was presented to all the animals at Pride Rock. Early on in the film, Sarabi gave permission for Simba and Nala to go to the water hole so long as Zazu went with them.

The two objected but Sarabi told them, if Zazu did not go, they would not either. The two reluctantly agreed with Sarabi and let Zazu accompany them. Midway through the film, when Scar was King of Pride Rock, Sarabi told him that he was overly hunting and that was inappropriate. Woodard starred in the films "Annabelle", "Star Trek: First Contact" and "Primal Fear".

In 1984, Woodard was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the movie "Cross Creek" but lost to Linda Hunt for "The Year of Living Dangerously".
5. I became King of Pride Rock at the end of the film. Who voiced me?

Answer: Donald Glover

Glover, born in 1983 on the Edwards Air Force Base in California, was cast to voice adult Simba. Simba grew into an adult lion midway through the film and wanted to live his own life. Simba ran into Nala and, while he was not ready to return to Pride Rock, Nala started his desire to return there. Mufasa's spirit visited Simba from the sky and told Simba he had to take his place in the circle of life.

It was after this event that Rafiki also encouraged Simba to do what he needed to do, as in return to Pride Rock. Simba realized he had to go back and challenge Scar to become King.

The two fought and Scar ended up dead. Simba took his place as the King at the end of the film. Glover appeared in the films "Solo: A Star Wars Story", "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "The Martian".
6. I tried to kill Simba. Who voiced me?

Answer: Florence Kasumba

Kasumba, born on October 26, 1976 in Kampala, Ugana voiced Shenzi. Shenzi was one of the three main hyenas who, along with Banzai and Ed, had a friendship with Scar. Shenzi, Banzai and Ed were seen early on in the film as they attempted to kill Simba and Nala. Early on in the film, Scar told them about his plans to kill both Mufasa and Simba, so that he could become King of Pride Rock.

The three hyenas all helped him out by snapping at the wildebeests so they could run into the gorge. Shenzi was also shown hunting midway through the movie.

At the end of the movie, Shenzi and the other hyenas ganged up on Scar and killed him after she, Banzai and Ed overheard Scar tell Simba that the hyenas came up with the idea to kill Mufasa. Kasumba had guest starring roles on the TV series "Spides", "Tatort" and "Kitz".
7. I was a ruthless and cruel King for Pride Rock. Who voiced me?

Answer: Chiwetel Ejiofor

Ejiofor, a native of London, England, United Kingdom landed the voice part of Scar. Scar was Mufasa's brother and was jealous that, because Simba was born, it would be highly unlikely that he would ever become King of Pride Rock. Near the beginning of the movie, he and Mufasa argued about how Scar missed the presentation of Simba and Scar said it slipped his mind. During this argument, Scar told Mufasa that perhaps he should not turn his back on him. Mufasa angrily wondered if this indicated Mufasa would challenge him but Scar said he would never dream of doing such. Scar claimed he got the brains but Mufasa got the strength. Scar told Simba that Mufasa was right to encourage him not to go to an elephant graveyard.

It was later revealed that Scar arranged for the hyenas to attack Simba and Nala when they went to the elephant graveyard. Midway through the movie, Scar killed Mufasa and blamed Simba for his death so he advised Simba to run away and never return. Scar became King of Pride Rock and was ruthless as a ruler.

At the end of the movie, he died after the hyenas attacked him. Ejiofor had roles in the movies "2012", "Amistad" and "Four Brothers". In 2014, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in "12 Years a Slave" but lost to Matthew McConaughey for "Dallas Buyers Club".

Simba intervened and the two tussled but then Simba realized it was Nala.

She was shocked since Scar told everyone at Pride Rock that Simba died in the stampede. While she and Simba were talking, she encouraged him to go back to Pride Rock. During this talk, they argued and Simba blasted her for leaving as well.

However, she told him that she left to find help. Knowles-Carter was cast as characters in the movies "Austin Powers in Goldmember", "Dreamgirls" and "Cadillac Records".
9. I befriended Simba and told my friend that it looked like Simba was depressed. Who voiced me?

Answer: Billy Eichner

Eichner, a native of New York City, landed the voice role of Timon. Timon was a meerkat who came upon Simba midway through the movie when buzzards circled him. Both he and Pumbaa saved Simba from death and then splashed some water on him to wake him up since he was asleep. Simba showed melancholy vibes so Timon said he was "blue", which Pumbaa took to mean in a literal sense.

However, Timon told Pumbaa that he meant Simba was depressed. At the end of the movie, Timon and Pumbaa accompanied Simba back to Pride Rock to help him take his place as the rightful King of Pride Rock. Eichner guest starred on the TV series "Parks and Recreation", "Difficult People" and "Dickinson".
