Cherub Rock" was the first single released from the 1993 album "Siamese Dream". Nominated for the "Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance" in 1994, it lost to "Plush" from Stone Temple Pilots. It managed a top spot on the "Music Week" UK Indie Chart and reached the top ten on the Billboard US Alternative Airplay chart.

The album itself was relatively successful, reaching top ten in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and US Billboard 200.

It was nominated for two Grammy Awards, "Record of the Year" and "Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal" but lost out to Eric Clapton for "Change the World" and Dave Matthews Band for the song "So Much to Say" respectively. It did win a belated MTV Music Award in 2012 however, for "Best Alternative Video".

Interesting tidbit. Billy Corgan, frontman for the Smashing Pumpkins, owns NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) which spawned WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).

"Tonight, Tonight" was the fourth single from "Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness". It was recorded with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It achieved top ten chart positions on charts around the world; yet again the Icelandic audiences responded well, and it topped the Icelandic charts.

Smashing Pumpkins kept smashing it out of the park with their music videos though. The 1996 MTV Video Music Awards garnered six awards for "Tonight, Tonight" and it was too nominated for a Grammy Award, but this time it lost out to The Beatles for the music video to "Free as a Bird".

"Disarm" was the third single released from the 1994 album "Siamese Dream". Its best charting position was the Billboard US Mainstream Rock chart at position five. The music video was the first of the band's music videos to be nominated for an MTV Video Music Award.

This song was banned by the BBC in the UK from the record chart television show "Top of the Pops" due to the lyrics "cut that little child". The song is in fact about Corgan's childhood and the tumultuous relationship with his parents.

"Rhinoceros" features on the album "Gish" (1991) which was the Pumpkin's debut album. As with everything else, they did not release "Rhinoceros" as a single, but instead released it as the opening track for the EP called "Lull" in 1991.

Corgan would say of "Gish", "Gish is almost like an instrumental album - it just happens to have singing on it". The album was named after the "First Lady of the Screen", actress Lillian Gish.

"Ava Adore" is the first single from the 1998 album "Adore". Yet again a hit in Iceland, reaching top spot on the chart. It did well in Greece and New Zealand as well and managed a solid third spot on the US Billboard Alternative Airplay chart.

The music video was insanely expensive, costing $800,000, and netted them an award at the 1998 VH1 Fashion Awards for "Most Stylish Video".

As a side note, of the four chemical elements given in the answers, mercury is the only one that is liquid at room temperature and could feasibly be consumed as a drink. It would kill you, but you could drink it.

The third single released from the album "Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" was "Zero". It reached number one on the Canadian and Spanish charts and managed another top ten chart position for the Pumpkins on the US Billboard Alternative Airplay charts.

The song was used on an episode of "The Simpsons" which featured the actual band. A great joke from the episode is where Billy Corgan introduces himself to Homer Simpson. "Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins". Homer responds, "Homer Simpson, smiling politely". Doh!

"Today" was the second single from the album "Siamese Dream". It charted well, achieving fourth spot on the US Billboard Alternative Airplay charts and third spot on the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts. Due to many personal issues affecting the members of the band, Corgan recorded most of the guitar and bass guitar parts.

Despite the song sounding very upbeat and happy, Corgan would say this to "Rolling Stone" magazine, "I was really suicidal ... I just thought it was funny to write a song that said today is the greatest day of your life because it can't get any worse."

Released as the lead North American single for the 1999 album "Machina/ The Machines of God", "The Everlasting Gaze" did fairly well on the charts. It achieved a fourth position on the US Billboard Alternative Airplay chart and fourteenth place on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock charts.

The music video was directed by Grammy Winning director Jonas Akerlund who won his Grammy for directing Madonna's 1999 music video for "Ray of Light". He was also responsible for directing videos from Metallica, Jamiroquai, Iggy Pop and U2.
