Notes:
Songs with one-word titles will include a hint. For example, if this quiz was about Van Halen, this one-word song-title "leapt" to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Mainstream Rock, Canada Top Singles and Italy's Musica e Dischi chart. Then you'd choose the word "Jump" as the answer, right?

According to The Go-Go's Facebook Page, Jane Wiedlin and Charlotte Caffey co-wrote the song "B-Movie" in 1979, but The Go-Go's never recorded this song on any album or single (Go-Go's, 2026).
The Go-Go's only performed their unreleased "B-Movie" two times and one of these venues was the Elks Lodge in Los Angeles, California on 17 Mar 1979.
March 17 was not only St. Patrick's Day in 1979 but also the night of the "Punk Massacre" at the Elks Lodge when the LAPD violently shut down the well-publicized "St. Patrick's Day Dance" featuring a line-up of local punk bands. According to the website Chris Morris's Wasted Space, "As the Plugz were preparing to take the stage at around 11:30, the whip came down. The reasons for sending in a full squad of riot-equipped Los Angeles police officers to close the show remain a complete mystery" (Morris, 2014).
According to Belinda Carlisle's autobiography "Lips Unsealed: A Memoir," "As I recall, Jane, Charlotte, Margot, and Elissa had, like me, managed to get away before the violence started. However, our manager, Ginger Canzoneri, was beaten with a nightstick. It was scary, dangerous, and one of those very unfortunate events now relegated to a footnote" (Carlisle, 2010, p. 57).
Other footnotes of police bringing the whip down on young punk concertgoers:
* 26 Sep 1980: The Fleetwood punk nightclub; Redondo Beach, California; Redondo Beach Police Department; multiple injuries
* 22 Nov 1980: Devonshire Downs festival; Northridge, California; LAPD and Los Angeles County Sheriffs; dozens injured
* 26 Mar 1981: BACES Hall community center; Hollywood, California; LAPD; dozens injured
* 11 Dec 1982: Perkins Palace music venue; Pasadena, California; Pasadena Police Department; multiple injuries
* 17 Nov 1984: Hollywood Palladium music venue; Hollywood, California; LAPD; numerous injuries
* 1981-1985: Cathay de Grande punk nightclub; Hollywood, California; LAPD; numerous injuries
* 1984-1985: Grand Olympic Auditorium music venue; Los Angeles, California; LAPD; dozens injured
Song 2) "Don't Hang Up"
According to The Go-Go's Facebook Page, Jane Wiedlin, Margot Olavarria and Belinda Carlisle co-wrote the song "Don't Hang Up" in 1978, but The Go-Go's never recorded this song on any album or single (Go-Go's, 2026).
The Go-Go's only performed their unreleased "Don't Hang Up" one time and this sole performance was at the Whiskey a Go Go in West Hollywood on 4 Oct 1978.
According to their playlist at the Whiskey a Go Go, The Go-Go's performed 12 songs and five of the songs were also never recorded on any album or single: "B-Movie," "Just a Number," "Overrun," "Robert Hilburn" and "We're Here Now."
Song 3) "Rebel Girl"
The Go-Go's covered Bikini Kill's song "Rebel Girl" at the 13th Annual Musack Rock n' Roll Carnival at Hancock Park in Los Angeles, California on 23 Aug 2025.
Kathleen Hanna, Billy Karren, Tobi Vail and Kathi Wilcox co-wrote "Rebel Girl" and released this song as a single backed with "Demirep" on 1 Sep 1993.

Bikini Kill's "Rebel Girl" is featured in five movies and one video game: "Rock Band 2" (2008), "Captain Fantastic" (2016), "Bad Reputation" (2018), "Next Gen" (2018), "Moxie" (2021) and "Hoppers" (2026).
Song 4) "It's Everything but Partytime"
Jane Wiedlin and Gina Schock co-wrote the song "It's Everything but Partytime" on The Go-Go's album "Vacation" in 1982.
According to a review of the album "Vacation" by Rolling Stone magazine, "The Go-Go's don't just sing songs about fun anymore; they toy with the idea of fun, asking: 'What does it mean? Is it worth it?' And they turn it inside-out on 'It's Everything but Partytime,' surely the most dour song ever written about hedonism: 'We're only looking for a good time...but what we get is empty rhyme...It's everything but partytime.' Does the 'it' in this song refer to the newfound stardom of the Go-Go's? Will they survive their own good times? Stay tuned for the next vacation" (Tucker, 1982).
The songs "It's Everything but Partytime" and "I'm with You" are the only songs solely co-written by Jane and Gina; however, Jane and Gina also teamed with outside writer Steve Plunkett to co-write "Automatic Rainy Day" on the album "God Bless The Go-Go's" in 2001.
Song 5) "London Boys"
Jane Wiedlin and Don Bolles co-wrote the song "London Boys" on The Go-Go's album "Return to the Valley of The Go-Go's" in 1994.

Song 6) "Overrun"
According to The Go-Go's interview with NPR Music, Jane Wiedlin, Margot Olavarria and Belinda Carlisle co-wrote the song "Overrun" in 1978, but The Go-Go's never recorded this song on any album or single (Hughes, 2020).
According to Belinda's interview with American Songwriter, "As the band was racing up the charts, Carlisle was also honing her voice as a songwriter. She co-wrote one of the band's early tracks, 'Overrun,' which she describes as an 'angry political song' that was 'about taking over the world,' as evidenced by such lyrics as, 'We want to overrun the city, the state, the world'" (Houghton, 2025).
The Go-Go's only performed their unreleased "Overrun" two times and both times were in Hollywood during 1978.
Song 7) "Sonic Superslide"
Jane Wiedlin, Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock and Kathy Valentine co-wrote the song "Sonic Superslide" on The Go-Go's album "God Bless The Go-Go's" in 2001.
According to a review of the reissued album "God Bless the Go-Go's" on Vocal, "Armed with high caliber standout tracks such as the should've been smash 'Apology,' the aggrieved 'Automatic Rainy Day' and the unapologetic 'Unforgiven' (featuring Billie Joe Armstrong), it's hard to fathom why 'God Bless' initially slipped through the cracks. While the poignant melancholy of 'Daisy Chain' tugs at the heartstrings, the raucous crunchiness of 'Stuck in My Car' and 'Sonic Superslide' prove The Go-Go's never lost the beat. Perhaps now 'God Bless' will finally receive its long overdue appreciation beyond The Go-Go's hard-core fans who've loved it for many years" (Allen, 2021).
The songs "Sonic Superslide" and "Throw Me a Curve" are the only songs solely co-written by all members of The Go-Go's; however, The Go-Go's also teamed with outside writer Anna Waronker to co-write their chart hit "Club Zero" as a non-album single on 31 Jul 2020.
Song 8) "Throw Me a Curve"
Jane Wiedlin, Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock and Kathy Valentine co-wrote the song "Throw Me a Curve" on The Go-Go's album "God Bless The Go-Go's" in 2001.
According to a review of the album "God Bless The Go-Go's" on PopMatters, "Songs like 'Vision of Nowness' and the enchanting 'Throw Me a Curve' are autumnal, earthy songs that sound a bit...to my boy ears...like advice for the daughters and younger sisters coming after them. 'Curve' in particular looks at the skewed values of a society which insists that Kate Winslet is somehow too big. 'I'd rather be a pinup girl than zero size,' Carlisle sings on one of the few songs ever written by all five women" (PopMatters Staff, 2001).
Speaking of pinup girls, Belinda posed for the August 2001 issue of Playboy magazine and after Jane posed topless for her album "Kissproof World," Rolling Stone asked Jane if all The Go-Go's will be posing naked, "No. I don't think you would want to see all five Go-Go's naked...I think we would be scary. But Belinda is doing Playboy. I believe it's coming out in April. Good timing [with the release date of "God Bless The Go-Go's" in May]. You've got to love that timing" (Skanse, 2000).
Song 9) "We Got the Beat & Hot to Go!"
The Go-Go's mashed up their chart hit "We Got the Beat" with Chappell Roan's hit "Hot to Go!" at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California on 9 Apr 2025.
Charlotte Caffey wrote "We Got the Beat" on The Go-Go's album "Beauty and the Beat" on 8 Jul 1981, and Kayleigh Amstutz and Daniel Nigro co-wrote "Hot to Go!" and released this song for download on 11 Aug 2023.
The Go-Go's "We Got the Beat" ranked on 16 music charts in three countries for 38 weeks from 9 Aug to 12 Dec 1980 and from 30 Jan to 11 Jun 1982 peaking at number two on Billboard Hot 100: Canada (2), France, United States (11) and the Internet (2).
Chappell Roan's "Hot to Go!" ranked on 24 music charts in 10 countries during two years peaking at number four on the UK Official Singles Chart: Australia (2), Canada (3), Croatia, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, New Zealand, Philippines, the United Kingdom (3), the United States (7) and worldwide chart (3).
Song10) "You Thought"
Gina Schock and Kathy Valentine co-wrote the song "You Thought" on The Go-Go's album "Talk Show" in 1984.
American Songwriter ranked "You Thought" at number four on their Top 10 Songs from The Go-Go's: "'You Thought' harkens back to the band's earliest days in the new wave movement. 'I can't seem to stop the music...All those familiar sounds...My thoughts cut in on partners...Dancin' in their empty arms,' the lyrics read. This minor-chord floor filler is a must-listen" (Hopper, 2023).
The Go-Go's "You Thought" is so nice, it was recorded twice! Both Plantigrade Waltz and The Curd recorded versions of "You Thought" on The Go-Go's tribute album "PRF 50 Tribute" (Premier Rock Forum 50th tribute album) on 31 Aug 2018.
The songs "You Thought" and "Good for Gone" are the only songs solely co-written by Gina and Kathy.
