Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
"Ripple" was initially released by the Grateful Dead on the album "American Beauty" in 1970, with lyrics and music by Robert Hunter and 'Jerome' (Jerry) Garcia respectively. It was also the B-side on the well-known song "Truckin'."
Robert Hunter (1941 - 2019) wrote the lyrics for this and two more Grateful Dead songs "Brokedown Palace" and "To Lay Me Down" in one weekend while in London. He was a favorite lyricist for the group for 25 years. At this time, Hunter is the only non-performer ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of a band.
"Ripple" has been covered by other bands, notably Jane's Addiction, and can be heard during the movie "Mask" (with Eric Stolzer) and the TV show "Taken," plus at many memorial celebrations.
