Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Fallout

Debuting on Amazon Prime in April 2024, "Fallout" was a post-apocalyptic drama based on the video game franchise of the same name. Set a couple of centuries after the Great War of 2077 in an alternate history, the series started with Lucy (portrayed by Ella Purnell) leaving her fallout shelter to try and find her kidnapped father.
2. Shōgun

Based on the 1975 novel "Shōgun" by James Clavell, this historical drama series debuted in February 2024 and won multiple Primetime Emmy Awards during its first season. Most of the cast were and the dialogue was Japanese. An English pilot was shipwrecked in Japan and, in time, rose to become a samurai for a powerful feudal lord.

The book and TV series were loosely based on historical figures from around 1600.
3. Gen V

One of several spin-offs from the satirical superhero series "The Boys" (2019-2026), "Gen V" premiered in September 2023. The moral boundaries of the young superheroes were soon tested at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Jaz Sinclair portrayed Marie Moreau, whose superpower was to weaponize blood.
4. The Diplomat

Keri Russell portrayed Kate Wyler, who was starting as the newly appointed US Ambassador to the UK. Premiering in April 2023, the series followed her as she did diplomatic work during various crises whilst her marriage deteriorated. Not to be confused with a British TV series also called "The Diplomat" that started a few months earlier in 2023.

This starred Sophie Rundle in the diplomat role in Barcelona, Spain.
5. The Rehearsal

The documentary comedy series "The Rehearsal" premiered in July 2022. The basic premise was that the comedian Nathan Fielder (as a fictionalised version of himself) helped ordinary folk with their issues. This was done through practising different responses to real-life situations, typically using extravagant constructed sets and a host of hired actors. Fielder created, directed, co-wrote and starred in the series.
6. Severance

February 2022 saw the debut of the science fiction psychological TV series "Severance". The employees of a biotech company have undergone a surgical procedure that separated their work-life memories from personal-life memories. The result was employees with no knowledge of the outside world and who, when outside the company, had no knowledge of their work until a journey of rediscovery was triggered.
7. Station Eleven

"Station Eleven" was a dystopian miniseries that premiered on HBO Max in December 2021. The series was based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Emily St. John Mandel. HBO Max commissioned the mini-series in June 2019. Somewhat topical at the time as the series premiered during the COVID pandemic, a scene-setting flu pandemic had caused the collapse of civilisation. Set in a period some 20 years after this, the action followed Travelling Symphony, a group of travelling performers who encounter a cult. MacKenzie Davis portrayed Kirsten Raymonde, the leading actress amongst the troupe.
8. The White Lotus

"The White Lotus" was a drama anthology series that mixed black comedy and tragicomedy elements as the viewer followed the lives of the guests and staff over the course of a week. Each season in the series used a different ensemble cast (although there were a few returnees) and a different resort hotel from the fictional luxury resort chain.

The series took its name from the resort chain. It premiered in July 2021.
9. Betty

The teen comedy series "Betty" premiered on HBO in May 2020. It was based on the 2018 film "Skate Kitchen" by the same director and writer, which in turn was based on her 2016 short film "That One Day". Most of the cast from the 2018 film appear in the series. The plot follows an all-girl group of skateboarders trying to break into New York's male-dominated skateboarding world.
10. Little America

Apple TV+ premiered the "Little America" anthology series in January 2020. The award-winning series portrayed the tales of various immigrants living in America who were typically unassuming, quirky, and relatable. The series was based on selected true stories from "Epic" magazine.
