The KN-44 is basically the AK47, or seriously watered down AN-94, of this game. It is a magazine-fed assault rifle with a very standard 30 round clip size. Quite frankly, there are no deficiencies just as there are no serious strengths to this weapon, making it fitting for it to be the weapon players begin their profiles with in Multiplayer.
In Zombies, the KN-44 is a very sturdy wall buy weapon. Just as in Multiplayer, this is a reliable weapon with no particular drawbacks, making it well suited as a wall buy weapon.
2. Kuda
Answer: Submachine Guns
The Kuda is basically the MP5 of this game, and has virtually the same stats and structural profile as that classic, albeit mediocre, submachine gun.
3. KRM-262
Answer: Shotguns
The KRM-262 was the first shotgun Treyarch ever developed that well and truly dominated a game's bullet meta. This was *the* shotgun for use if you wanted to play a super high risk/reward type of game. On one hand, most of this game's maps and mechanics are poorly suited for shotguns to succeed. On the other, the KRM-262 is an eighteen-wheel truck in the form of a shotgun. If you merely graze your opponent slightly with it, they are probably going down in one hit, let alone landing a clean shot.
In Zombies, the good times keep on rolling. Funny enough, the KRM-262 is one of few weapons which was actually nerfed specifically in this mode. Despite this, it once again easily claimed the crown atop all shotguns, and was arguably the single best wall buy weapon as well. When Pack-a-Punched, this brute becomes the Dagon's Glare. It is not only destructive, it's incredibly fast, with a super speedy rechamber and reloading multiple shells per shell inserted.
4. BRM
Answer: Light Machine Guns
The BRM is sort of a knock-off M249 SAW from the "Modern Warfare" franchise. It has good damage, excellent fire rate, but poor mobility, handling and reload speed, just as most LMGs do.
In Zombies, this weapon had an interesting ride. It is only available out of the Mystery Box, except on Der Eisendrache where it is a wall buy weapon. However, to access the wall buy on DE with the BRM in it requires specific, highly time sensitive platforming that is nearly impossible to pull off with a horde of zombies on one's tail, so some squeezing will be needed to earn this LMG-flavored juice.
5. Drakon
Answer: Sniper Rifles
The Drakon was likely supposed to be a knock-off version of the Dragunov, given the similar name and the fact that both are semi-automatic sniper rifles. However, the Drakon puts every single Dragunov ever made in a "Call of Duty" game, ever, to complete and utter shame in this game. It has no recoil, does more damage than you'd think and fires surprisingly fast for a sniper rifle. While it cannot threaten a one-shot even to the head, it can reliably kill in two hits, and these two hits can easily be swiftly delivered due to the high fire rate and lack of any recoil to get in the way.
In Zombies, again, the Drakon is a force of nature. It's basically a super watered down SVU-AS from "Black Ops 2" in this mode, though the SVU-AS was absolutely legendary, so being in its shadow is hardly a bad thing. The Drakon is available out of the Mystery Box on all maps.
6. MR6
Answer: Pistols
The MR6 is an incredibly basic semi automatic pistol, essentially posing as a knock-off M1911 from various past "Call of Duty" titles. It is a sturdy sidearm, but nothing that ever proved capable of dominating the Multiplayer meta by any means.
In Zombies, this is the pistol players begin the game with on all maps. It has the exact same 8 round clip sizes with 32 total rounds that had been given to players in every Zombies map ever made to this point. However, if players complete the "A Better Tomorrow" Super Easter Egg, players will start with 80 total rounds instead of 32.
7. HVK-30
Answer: Assault Rifles
The HVK-30, my personal favorite weapon in this game, is a reliable, accurate assault rifle with reasonable damage and an above average fire rate. In Multiplayer, it is the fourth assault rifle players unlock.
In Zombies, this is a wall buy weapon on all original maps, but on Chronicles maps, it is missing on every map except Origins in this capacity. When Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the High Velocity Kicker, a powerful and speedy assault rifle that makes reaching the mid 30s for round a fairly effortless affair.
8. VMP
Answer: Submachine Guns
The VMP became a fan favorite almost immediately due to its unique design for an SMG. Unfortunately, in Multiplayer, this is easily the worst SMG in the game. While its large size implies that it should be stable, it actually features the second worst accuracy of any SMG in the game. As well, its handle speed is significantly slower to go with a slightly below average reload speed. These drawbacks are not made up for by having slightly above average damage output. The Kuda completely outclasses the VMP in practice, and the Kuda itself isn't even that great.
In Zombies, things do improve for the VMP slightly. High damage output is valuable here, and handle speed is basically meaningless. The reload speed is not all that bad either, making the VMP much more competitive with other SMGs in this mode. Thankfully, it's a consistent wall buy weapon as well, making it reliable.
Despite its deficiencies, the VMP was so popular with players that it ultimately made a come back in "Black Ops 4." There, it finally turned into an excellent SMG for Multiplayer use. Though it's no longer a wall buy weapon in that game's Zombies, it was gifted a major statistic overhaul that makes it sturdier when it is acquired out of the Mystery Box.
9. 205 Brecci
Answer: Shotguns
The 205 Brecci would absolutely have dominated this game's Multiplayer bullet meta, were it not for the KRM-262 crashing the party before the Brecci ever stood a chance. That said, this is still an amazing semi automatic shotgun that succeeds in the exact situations the KRM-262 does.
In Zombies, the Brecci becomes a little bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, it's a perfectly powerful weapon with strong stats that's more than suitable to get the player through anything they'd need a shotgun for. On the other, the Brecci's rival in the KRM-262 once again massively hogs the spotlight. The KRM-262, unlike the Brecci, is a wall buy weapon, making it far more reliable than the Brecci. Apart from that, like in Multiplayer, it simply outperforms the Brecci slightly in doing anything it could try and do. The fact that the KRM is a wall buy weapon makes the gap even larger here than in Multiplayer. The player could easily just use both shotguns and absolutely be well set in doing so, but if they had to choose one or the other, the KRM-262 wins this debate without question.
10. Dingo
Answer: Light Machine Guns
This is a fan favorite LMG and, fittingly, is the best LMG in the game by a landslide for Multiplayer use. This LMG has, by a million miles, the absolute best handling for any LMG, making it plausible to actually go on the offensive with. The fast mag attachment for the Dingo is amazing, and cuts down its sluggish reload speed to size; even without this attachment, the reload speed is still competitive with other LMGs, but having exclusive access to it is one of the things that makes the Dingo outclass the competition. The stability on the Dingo, for a fully automatic LMG, is peerless, and the fire rate is excellent as well. There are truly no downsides to the Dingo along with immense upside.
In Zombies, the Dingo is a Mystery Box weapon, which is more than reasonable due to how strong it is. It performs just as excellently here as in Multiplayer. As well, the player can access Speed Cola to pair it with Fast Mag, making way for the single speediest reload you will ever see on an LMG, ever.
11. Locus
Answer: Sniper Rifles
The Locus essentially functions as a spiritual successor to the DSR-50 of "Black Ops 2", and it holds that distinction with honor. It improves on the concept of its predecessor, with the same lethal one-shot kill potential to the chest and up, while offering much larger magazines (8 to the DSR-50's 4) and the ability to equip a Fast Mag for potential to go on the offensive as well, as the DSR-50 did in the previous game.
In Zombies, the Locus went on a very weird journey. It was a Mystery Box weapon, but numerous other maps featured quirky alternate ways for the player to get their hands on a Locus. In Shadows of Evil, Fumigating a purple colored Pod has a chance to yield a free Locus. On Gorod Krovi, interacting with any of the Dragon Pods once the power and Pack-a-Punch have been enabled has a small but existent chance to give a free Locus. On Nacht Der Untoten, there is actually a wall buy for the Locus for a whopping 4500 points, the only map this weapon is a wall buy on. Finally, in Origins, there is a possibility of digging up a free Locus from a dig site as long as the weather is not snowing.
12. RK5
Answer: Pistols
The RK5 is this game's burst pistol. It fires a three round burst every time the player pulls the trigger. While it is a marked improvement over "Black Ops 2's" B2 3RD, its damage output still does not enable it to kill in a single burst, making it a rather low tier option. It is a sidearm of course, so it should not be able to compete with actual primary weapons anyway.
In Zombies, the RK5 is a spawn room wall buy on every map in the game for 500 points. Alternatively, if the player has finished the "A Better Tomorrow" Super Easter Egg, the RK5 becomes their starting pistol, a really cool feature that put the RK5 into the spotlight as a really nice quality of life reward for embarking on a brutal six-map Easter Egg Main Quest tour.
13. L-CAR 9
Answer: Pistols
This is a machine pistol. In Multiplayer, this is easily the most map dependent gun in the game. On small maps such as Nuketown, this weapon can take entire games over. On much larger maps, using this weapon may as well be throwing the game. It has a very small effective range, but it dominates engagements within this range. It has top tier mobility being a pistol, excellent handling, excellent reload speed and an excellent fire rate. It just needs to be isolated to strictly close quarters fights, as this weapon falls off ridiculously bad even at a slight distance.
In Zombies, the L-CAR 9 became the most forgettable wall buy weapon, in a game filled to the brim with amazing wall buy weapons. Since players are not required to have a 'primary' and 'secondary' weapon, and can just have two primaries or even a wonder weapon, the L-CAR 9's advantage of being a full auto secondary weapon diminishes completely. Forced to compete with SMGs, LMGs and assault rifles, the L-CAR 9 is simply embarrassed in all facets in some way. It may be a reliable wall buy weapon, but there are consistently going to be several alternatives which are simply better. Never mind using the Mystery Box for something like a wonder weapon, a Dingo or a Man-O-War.
14. ICR-1
Answer: Assault Rifles
This assault rifle takes home the title of the single most accurate AR with the lowest visual recoil in the game, narrowly edging out the HVK-30 in doing both. It features competitive damage and a speedy reload. For a profile-starting weapon, it's hard to ask for better.
Like the HVK-30, it is a wall buy weapon on a litany of maps, only missing The Giant, Shadows of Evil and Der Eisendrache, along with the Chronicles maps.
15. Weevil
Answer: Submachine Guns
The Weevil is essentially a knock-off P90 from the "Modern Warfare" series. It improves on the P90 in a few different ways; the reload speed is much faster and the handling and stability are better, all while the weapon retains its massive 50 round clip size, all in return for only a little bit of fire rate and a smidgen of damage.
In Zombies, this is the ultimate point-gaining weapon. It is weak, but slaying the undead was not necessarily this thing's purpose. By shooting zombies with the massive bounty of ammo this thing has, players will rapidly earn points by sustaining fire with a weak weapon. You should never, ever Pack-a-Punch this, but it's an excellent accessory to have up until about round 15, or whenever the player is ready to construct their final, full set up for the game.
16. Haymaker 12
Answer: Shotguns
The Haymaker 12 is a fully automatic shotgun, essentially mirroring the AA-12 from the "Modern Warfare" series. This shotgun is truly great, but it has unimaginable competition coming from the KRM-262 and 205 Brecci that it just can't live up to. It suffers from offering less damage output to compensate for being fully automatic and, in this game, a full auto shotgun doesn't really serve much of a niche that the KRM and Brecci can't fill. This would likely have been a top 5 weapon in the "Modern Warfare" series, and is certainly a perfectly viable choice in this game, it simply suffers from being a Bronze medalist sitting in the shadow of a clear-cut Gold and Silver finisher.
Like the Locus, the Haymaker 12 had an interesting journey in Zombies. It is a Mystery Box weapon on all maps. It is also a potential reward for Fumigating a purple Pod on Shadows of Evil. Like the Locus, it can also potentially be dug up out of a dig site on Origins. Ultimately, the Haymaker and Brecci are basically neck and neck in this mode, as they may as well be the exact same shotguns. However, they both come up short to the KRM-262, a wall buy weapon, so if a player wants a good shotgun, they'll be likelier to turn to the wall rather than the unreliable Mystery Box.
17. Gorgon
Answer: Light Machine Guns
The Gorgon likely takes the cake for being the single most underrated weapon, for sure in this game, but potentially in all of "Call of Duty" history as well. This LMG features easily the lowest fire rate of all LMGs, to go with an unwieldy reload speed. It is a bit difficult to go on the offensive with, but in return, this is the ultimate weapon for playing defense with. Sadly, that means this is a camper's paradise of a weapon. It has brilliant accuracy and amazing damage, best in class by far. As such, users can take a position, simply aim down the sights of the Gorgon, wait for an enemy to show up, then light them up when they do. The Gorgon will kill so quickly that victims are likely to not even know where they were just shot from.
In Zombies, again, the Gorgon is extremely underrated. That high damage output is an absolute asset in this mode and, though the unwieldy reload speed definitely hurts, a weapon almost designed specifically to camp works well in a game where the undead will rush through choke points haphazardly in a crowd, rather than try to outwit or outmaneuver the user. It is a Mystery Box weapon on all maps except for Origins.
18. P-06
Answer: Sniper Rifles
This is a quirky piece of machinery; a sniper rifle which fires a three round burst. This is the gnarliest three round burst you are likely to ever see, and it will absolutely kill if all three shots land, no questions asked, even if the shots hit the victim in the foot. Unfortunately, the cycle speed is horrendous, so if the initial burst misses, the player is unlikely to get a second try. This is best viewed as a sniper rifle with a very high skill ceiling, but massive payout on return for skilled use.
Sadly, the P-06 does not appear in Zombies at all.
19. Man-O-War
Answer: Assault Rifles
The Man-O-War is a bit of a mixed bag. Unfortunately, mostly because assault rifles in this game are pretty much all at least good if not great, the Man-O-War is the outlier, easily the worst AR in Multiplayer. It features above average damage output and a good clip size of 35, but these advantages are eclipsed by somehow possessing a horrible combination of both low fire rate and lacking stability with noticeable visual recoil. Though the Man-O-War isn't at all hopeless, there is simply no reason to use it over basically any AR in the game.
In Zombies, the Man-O-War went down the path of the Locus and Haymaker 12. It is a Mystery Box weapon on all maps, but has some instances of being acquired in other ways. Like the Locus and Haymaker, it is a possible reward when Fumigating a purple Pod on Shadows of Evil. On Origins, it can be dug up out of a dig site or, alternatively, a Pack-a-Punched Man-O-War can be earned by landing 115 headshots with any gun and then visiting a Challenge Site to collect it.
20. Vesper
Answer: Submachine Guns
The Vesper takes the honor of the game's highest fire rate of any gun. That makes it an absolute monster in close quarters. Predictably, guzzling out bullets as quickly as this thing does makes the accuracy suffer. In this case, it's bad enough to saddle the Vesper with the single worst accuracy of any fully automatic gun. That massively bottlenecks its performance outside of close quarters, making its usage cases pretty clear.
In Zombies, this is a wall buy weapon on all maps. In this mode, Double Tap can be purchased to jack the fire rate up even further. It would be best to pair it with Speed Cola then, as such a massive fire rate means that the magazine itself will be emptied even faster, necessitating frequent reloading.
21. Argus
Answer: Shotguns
This is the final shotgun unlocked in Multiplayer. Sadly, it is also by far and away, easily the worst shotgun in the game. As a lever action shotgun, the advantage to the Argus is supposed to be enhanced effective range. While that is the case, the range enhancement is pretty pathetic and does not compensate at all for sawing this thing's damage off by nearly 45% compared to the KRM-262.
In Zombies, the Argus is a wall buy weapon on Revelations, Nacht Der Untoten, Shi no Numa and Origins. Here, it is a perfectly okay weapon. While weaker than the 205 Brecci and Haymaker 12, the Argus can leverage its reliability on the aforementioned maps. It can't touch the KRM-262 at all, however, so it runs into the same dead end that the Brecci and Haymaker do in the grand scheme of things.
22. 48 Dredge
Answer: Light Machine Guns
The 48 Dredge is, bizarrely, a six round burst LMG. The bursts themselves are lightning fast, but the cycle speed is very slow. With poor mobility, poor handling and a hefty reload speed, this is another weapon for the camping gamers of the world.
The 48 Dredge is in the Mystery Box in Zombies. It is a genuinely good weapon, though it doesn't necessarily stand out in any way apart from being unique for its six round burst.
23. SVG-100
Answer: Sniper Rifles
This is the big boomstick of the sniper rifle category. It is a bolt action rifle, and the shots it fires are incredibly loud. They can be heard from the direct opposite end of a particularly large map, such as Redwood or Rise. This isn't just senseless flair, as the SVG-100 hits just as hard as it sounds. It is an effortless one-shot kill to the waist and up, while being laser accurate. Of course, being bolt action and heavy, its mobility is poor, so this is better used for defensive gameplay.
In Zombies, weapons which deal good damage are always welcome, so the SVG-100 fits in well. As well, it is possible to equip it with an Elo sight, making it a bit less unwieldy used in close quarters.
24. Sheiva
Answer: Assault Rifles
The Shieva is a very basic semi automatic rifle, with high damage, slow fire and relatively poor hip fire performance. It packs lethality not seen in other ARs, as this is a reliable two shot kill at all ranges to the chest and up. However, said poor hip fire performance and sluggish reload speed make it difficult to use offensively.
In Zombies, this is one of the two spawn room wall weapons available on every single map in the game. It may work for newer players but, unfortunately, it isn't even spared a passing glance from those who did the "A Better Tomorrow" Super Easter Egg. The Super EE gives players a starting RK5 completely for free, making it pretty pointless buying the Sheiva.
25. M8A7
Answer: Assault Rifles
The M8A7 is a four round burst assault rifle. It is the very last one unlocked for use. It features excellent range and amazing accuracy, letting it contend with LMGs and sniper rifles better than most ARs. The damage output is quite acceptable, rendering this gun's only true weakness being hip fire accuracy, making it less desirable in close quarters.
In Zombies, this is a wall buy weapon. In any game prior to "Black Ops 3", the M8A7 would have been a top contender. However, this game seriously stepped up the quality of wall weapons, so the M8A7 had massive competition. The KN-44, HVK-30, ICR-1 and KRM-262 are just some examples of elite alternatives. The M8A7 wasn't bad at all, it just wasn't up to par with the best of the best.
