Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these does not carry over when you commence New Game+?

Answer: Expedition Journals

Available from any Expedition Flag as soon as the main story is completed, you can proceed into New Game+ just by making the selection, converting your save file into a new game altogether but keeping much of the progress you've accumulated in the way of collectible items and stat points. It does mean facing off against stronger foes to compensate for this increase, but you'll have the benefit of knowing the strategies against these enemies and the ability to up your Pictos to a higher max level as a result.

As there are opportunities to miss some of the Expedition Journals in your travels, starting from scratch may give you the ability to get some of the ones you locked out in your first playthrough. The same goes for Pictos.
2. Maxing your Relationship Levels with your Expedition members will unlock a small handful of areas on the map. Which is not one of them?

Answer: Flying Casino

Flying Casino is certainly only accessible late in the game since you can only fly up to it when Esquie receives his fourth rock, but it isn't locked by a quest need quite like the others. Instead, you can visit this Gestral facility to collect a cosmetic for Monoco and a Record provided you stop by as the right party member (Monoco).

The others all pertain to the late stages of your Expedition's relationship quests. Sacred River is where Verso and Monoco can resurrect Noco; Sirène's Dress is where Lune's family met their end; The Reacher is where Maelle can have her one-on-one duel with Alicia. In all three cases, you must overcome the fights at hand to max out your characters' Relationship Levels and get their final Gradient Attack unlocked.
3. Esquie's fourth and final rock, found in François' possession, is Urrie, and it allows him to do what?

Answer: Dive underwater

Esquie can get four magical rocks throughout the story, but the fourth, Urrie, is the only non-essential one as all three earlier rocks are collected throughout the story with the last, Soarrie, being handed over during the fight against the Paintress. This makes Urrie a distinctly third-act collectible, and it appears as part of Esquie's Relationship quest line, boosting Verso's Gradient Attacks in the process. For this, Verso and Esquie will make a visit to François, back in Esquie's Nest, to battle over the rock. Initially, Esquie will try to make and trade a different rock for his own, but François has his ways, and will naturally want to fight.

Urrie allows Esquie to visit distinct spots in the Continent's waters to collect hidden Colours of Lumina.
4. If you fly to the Dark Gestral Arena, you can battle which high-level optional boss?

Answer: Golgra

You have a few instances in the game where you may end up fighting against the 'chef' of the Gestral Village, Golgra, but not all of them are mandatory battles, and it's probably a good thing since she's one of the tougher foes you'll face outside of the Endless Tower.

You will always be able to face Golgra in Gestral Village itself, but you'll likely be at a low level when you pass through, making the battle a bit of a wash. She will, however, reward you with a weapon for beating her in a one-on-one fight.

Golgra appears again in Monoco's relationship quest, standing in the way when Monoco attempts to resurrect Noco in the Sacred River, though Verso and Monoco can fight her two-on-one to help this along.

She can be fought one more time as the final foe in the floating Dark Gestral Arena. Again, this is a potentially tough battle, but winning will get you some Grandiose Chroma Catalysts and a cosmetic for Maelle.
5. Visiting The Fountain will allow you to meet Blanche, who will reward you provided you did which of the following?

Answer: Helped other Nevrons without fighting them

Throughout the Continent, you may happen to come across unfinished Nevrons which appear in a dull pallor in some of the less battle-heavy regions of the game. These Nevrons will not generally fight but will instead ask for assistance in some way, whether that involve collecting an item, performing a task, or simply chatting through problems. Though the Expedition will generally receive an opportunity to do battle with them, one who avoids fighting where it's not necessary could be rewarded when they encounter Blanche in The Fountain. Choosing to spare those Nevrons-- all of them-- will result in an achievement and 100 Colours of Lumina as a reward.

Failure to follow through on this can be remedied by trying all over again in New Game+.
6. Both Sprong and Serenphare can only be fought in/after Act 3.

Answer: False

While Serpenphare, who flies above the sea on the Continent map, can only be fought once you get Soarrie from the Paintress battle and allow Esquie to fly (making it only accessible in Act 3). Sprong can be approached as soon as the start of Act 2, being fightable as soon as you take to the waters after Stone Wave Cliffs. The catch is that Sprong is much more difficult to face due to its heavy hits, so approaching it at this time probably isn't in your best interest, even if you're good at parrying.

If defeated, Sprong will drop the Cheater Picto, which many regard to be one of the strongest in the game due to its ability to let the user attack twice in a row on every turn. Serpenphare, meanwhile, drops Energy Master, which gives its user 1 AP for every AP already collected.
7. Which of these can not be found in the Endless Night Sanctuary?

Answer: Mime

This late-stage area of the game, found off on its own on the Continent's northeast reach, is a deep, dark forest of high-level Gestral creations, all manned by a single Grandis Engineer upgrading their Sakapatates. Although this was a once-thriving Gestral home region, Golgra killed the Gestrals there, moving them to be planted in the Ancient Sanctuary. What results is an area of narrow forest glades, tough fights against constructs, and a handful of hidden treasures that may be worth your while in the latest stages of the game.
8. One of the latest bosses you'll face in the game is found in the Flying Manor. Which member of the Dessendre Family will it be?

Answer: Clea

Besides this instance, Clea is only ever really seen outside of the Canvas, appearing in flashback sequences with Alicia/Maelle between Acts 2 and 3 to provide backstory for the Dessendre family's motivations. There is a version of Clea to fight, however, if you head into the Act 3/late-game area known as the Flying Manor, which you can access with Esquie's flight ability in Act 3.

The foes here, many of which are bosses, are enhanced for the sake of high-level parties, and the fight with Clea is amongst the toughest in the game because of her diverse abilities (brought on by various Nevrons). Beating her is, as a result, gruelling as well as rewarding.
9. After the 'Thank You Update' DLC released, the trials of the Endless Tower ended with Simon the Divergent Star. Simon can be fought, previously, in which other location?

Answer: Renoir's Drafts

Endless Tower aside, Renoir's Drafts, at one point, made up the bulk of "Expedition 33's" endgame content, forming an area leading deep into the Abyss, the home of the to-that-point, unvisited character of Simon, who was a part of Expedition Zero alongside Verso. Simon has since been corrupted by the early events of the Canvas, and he sits in wait to fight those who descend into his final lair.

As part of the 'Thank You Update' DLC, Simon also appears as one of the four final bosses in the Endless Tower, being found beyond the main series of fights. As Simon the Divergent Star, he poses one of the biggest threats in the game, requiring significant planning and strategy for even the most battle-ready, fully-levelled parties.
10. Esquie's cousin can be found in the Root of all Evil in Verso's Drafts. What is his name?

Answer: Osquio

A world found next to Lumière on the Continent map, but only after the release of the 'Thank You Update' DLC, Verso's Draft surpasses Renoir's Drafts in terms of difficult endgame content, providing a handful of unexpectedly whimsical NPCs (Monsieur Frappe and the Very Very Cool Gestral amongst them), new items and Pictos, and a number of tough boss battles against Chromatic Nevrons.

At the end of all of this is Osquio, an evil version of Esquie, found at the Root of All Evil once you collect all of the pieces of birthday cake. Yes, he may be Esquie's cousin, but he's not playing around.
