Like most Nightlords, the initial fight with Caligo will feature a big boss health bar attached to her name and title.

Answer: Miasma of Night

The word 'miasma' refers to a highly unpleasant, unhealthy, potentially even poisonous vapor or air wave. Caligo's breath isn't necessarily literally poisonous, but it does easily afflict Frostbite, so it definitely isn't healthy.

Answer: Fire

The majority of dragons across From Software video games in general tend to be weak to Lightning. Caligo is an exception, as she actually resists it. Instead, she harbors a nasty weakness to Fire. Applying enough Fire to Caligo will, similarly to Tricephalos and Darkdrift Knight with their weaknesses, eventually debuff her; she will deal less damage and receive more damage in general while this debuff lasts.

While not weak to it, Caligo's resistance to Scarlet Rot is actually considerably smaller than every Nightlord in the game except for Gaping Jaw. As such, bringing Scarlet Rot to this fight does make sense.

Answer: Ulcerated Tree Spirit

Curiously, while Ulcerated Tree Spirit sure is formidable, it is a Fire-weak boss that can appear in the expedition for a Fire-weak Nightlord. It is possible From Software was concerned that this boss would be too challenging for a Night 1, while also not being challenging enough generally for a Night 2.

As such, giving it this distinction is a sensible way to create a well balanced boss fight context.

Answer: Dancer of the Boreal Valley

Pontiff Sulyvahn sure would have been an amazing addition, but Dancer of the Boreal Valley ended up being a good choice as well.

In "Dark Souls 3", Dancer is famously the only mandatory boss the player can fight in which they have a distinct say as to how early they want to do it; Dancer could come as early as the player's second boss fight, or the player could put her off all the way until they have three of the game's four Lords of Cinder defeated.

She simply isn't as generally noteworthy as Nameless King, who can appear in the Darkdrift Knight expedition. But she is surprisingly still quite formidable in this game, as she was given the speed to keep up with Nightfarers to a pretty decent degree.

Answer: Fire a moon beam

The exact same beam fired off of the Darkmoon Greatsword, enlargened to be appropriate for a huge dragon, will occasionally be fired by Caligo using her tail.

Answer: Attacking it until it breaks

This is where it will be of crucial importance to strike Caligo's weaknesses. Fire and Strike will make shattering this armor very easy, done in just a few hits. Anything else will need quite a bit more elbow grease. Caligo also can regenerate her armor manually, incentivizing players to smash it quickly.

A strategy coordinated teams or a solo player may use is to simply attack the same space on Caligo repeatedly, and only this one space until she regenerates armor, then choosing a different place or returning to the same place. This will prevent the rest of her armor from being a problem, as she cannot simply shift her armor to cover the singular shattered space.

Answer: Strike

Before the transition, Caligo receives 35% extra damage from Fire and 15% from Strike. After the transition, her Strike weakness enlargens to 30% and Fire declines to 25%. This is likely due to the hard, rock-like armor she develops, which would feasibly be easier to smash through with a Strike weapon like a hammer rather than burn through with Fire.

Caligo will still be debuffed with enough usage of Fire, and is definitely still weak to it. However, Strike takes over as the #1 option once Everdark phase begins. This is great news for The Undertaker, as the only Nightfarer to begin the game with a Strike weapon.

Answer: Chilling Mist

The three wrong options would have been awesome, maybe even too much so, for this relic to grant. Nevertheless, Chilling Mist is still a solid Ash of War. It is a marked improvement over the default AoWs characters in this game can start with. That said, it is entirely incompatible and will not work for The Ironeye, The Revenant or The Recluse, so they should not use this relic.

Answer: They turn invisible

If anyone or anything gets afflicted with Frostbite near the user, the user will straight up just turn invisible briefly. Nearby enemies, even straight up bosses, will not be able to see the player. The player can still take damage if they wander into the vicinity of an attack, but they will not be targeted by any enemies while unseen.
