Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Unlike most other Nightlords, Sentient Pest features multiple enemies as part of the Nightlord fight. The main target for the regular version is the large, light blue colored moth. What is the moth's name?

Answer: Gnoster

When fighting the 'regular' Sentient Pest, only Gnoster's name will appear next to the traditionally large boss health bar players see. That said, Gnoster's associate clip-shear does share a health bar with it, so in theory, Gnoster could be killed without ever directly targeting it.
2. The moth never fights alone, as it is joined by a freakishly huge clipshear who essentially acts as a frontline tank for it. What is the clipshear's name?

Answer: Faurtus

While Gnoster will prefer to gently fly around players and pelt them with poison or magic, Faurtus is more inclined to simply march right up to the closest player and try to brawl them down. It is huge, at roughly five times the size of the player character.

Notably, Faurtus shares the same health bar with Gnoster if fighting the regular version. During the Everdark fight, Faurtus gets its own health bar, even with its own name attached to it just as Gnoster does.
3. Both of these bugs have titles. The clipshear's is simply 'Stoneshield', meant to reflect its frontline/tanky nature. What is the moth's title?

Answer: Wisdom of Night

Given that Gnoster takes a position of safety to pelt the player with, keeping out of the reach of dangerous melee assailants, this could be perhaps what makes it 'wise'. The actual reasoning behind this moniker is likely more complex, but never makes itself explicitly or even implicitly known in the game's lore.
4. The bugs both have slightly differing resistances, but they share the same weakness. What is the most effective element in this fight?

Answer: Fire

Being bugs, it is pretty easy to rationalize why neither would enjoy fire. Players should have the Night of the Beast relic available, which would easily allow them to begin the expedition with their starting weapon infused with Fire.
5. Like with Gaping Jaw, Night 1 of the Sentient Pest Expedition offers the chance at some nostalgia. What boss, near copy/pasted from "Dark Souls 2", can appear on Night 1?

Answer: Smelter Demon

The Smelter Demon does carry one twist that is definitely not seen in the original: the ability to 'evolve' into the Blue Smelter Demon as the fight progresses, which is something it absolutely can't do in the original. Other than that, this fight is mechanically unchanged from the original version made twelve years prior in a much slower paced game, so this fight is unsurprisingly very, very easy as a result.
6. In the realm of nostalgia, an old face from "Dark Souls 1" can also attack the player on Night 1. Who is this?

Answer: Centipede Demon

Like many other nostalgia trips, this one features a boss from a much older game, dumped into a much faster one while given nothing to compensate. As a result, this fight is pretty easy.

One interesting detail is, the player is incentivized to cutting the demon's tail off in "Dark Souls 1" for reasons which are exclusive to that game. In this game, such a reward does not exist, but the demon's tail can still be cut off anyway, seemingly a homage to its original appearance.
7. Night 2 gives the potential to fight a notable boss from "Elden Ring", one tied to an achievement in that game. Which of the following can potentially appear here?

Answer: Magma Wyrm Makar

It is worth noting that the majority of Night 1 and Night 2 bosses are resistant to Fire, which Sentient Pest is weak to. For this reason, players may want to plan out a weapon for use against Night bosses, along with their Fire weapon for Sentient Pest.

Other than Makar, a Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella or a Draconic Tree Sentinel with Royal Cavalrymen fight can appear on Night 2.
8. Fighting the Everdark version of Sentient Pest introduces a third "bug" to the fight. This one cements itself as the main target, and whose defeat instantly ends the entire boss fight. What is the name of the third "bug"?

Answer: Animus

The reason I say "bug" is because it's difficult to say if it's actually meant to portray a bug or not. Animus' appearance involves it essentially appearing out of nowhere, once Gnoster and Faurtus have been "slain." Animus appears to take on the form of a butterfly of some kind.

When it appears, a new health bar attached to "Animus, Ascendant Light" appears. Gnoster and now Faurtus will have independent health bars, for a total of three. Player(s) must now defeat Animus, as doing so will immediately defeat Gnoster and Faurtus for good. Gnoster and Faurtus can be killed again and again, but Animus will continually revive them. As Animus revives one, it will also possess their bodies and take control. During this time, it will inherit a much stronger version of the host's original moveset but will also receive damage if targeted by the player.
9. When defeated for the first time, the regular version of this fight gives players the Night of the Wise relic. This relic starts the player's beginning weapon infused with what?

Answer: Poison

In addition, if the player manages to poison anything, or if they themselves get poisoned, they will receive a temporarily albeit significant bonus to their damage output. Last off, this relic will provide a minor boost to the player's maximum FP.

This may not seem like much, but in actuality, this is arguably one of the best relics in the entire game for The Ironeye, The Executor and The Scholar. The former can easily apply poison at a distance, and gains synergy with the poison damage buff with one of his own, incredible unique other relics. The latter two have large Arcane scaling, can apply poison frequently, and thus can maximize the up-time on the buff.
10. When defeating the Everdark version of Sentient Pest for the very first time, players receive the Dark Night of the Wise relic. What is one trait this relic offers?

Answer: Max FP permanently increased after releasing Sorcerer's Rise mechanism

This is an absolute necessity for The Revenant who is constantly finding herself starved on FP and begging her teammates to buy her some more Starlight Shards since she bought the poor merchant out of his stock entirely. It's also quite useful for The Duchess and The Undertaker, characters who themselves do not have a ton of FP and may find themselves wanting to cast spells.

Other than the listed trait, Dark Night of the Wise also offers a flat boost to the user's maximum FP along with FP Restoration Upon Successive Attacks. Clearly, there was a large focus on FP in this relic, which is why it's so indispensable to The Revenant as mentioned earlier.
