Answer: Gladius

While the Expedition and the species itself are named Tricephalos, the player will read "Gladius, Beast of the Night" accompanying a large health bar on the bottom of their screen while the fight takes place.

Answer: Beast of the Night

Whereas some deeper interpretation may be necessary to understand various other titles, the 'Beast of the Night' moniker is thankfully very straightforward to understand. Gladius is, very simply, a huge three-headed beast, so 'Beast of the Night' is very fitting.

Answer: Holy

Using Holy weapons and hitting the beast consistently will apply a debuff, whereupon the beast will first stagger, then temporarily deal less damage and receive more damage. As well, the damage output difference is noticeable as Tricephalos takes an enormous 35% extra damage from Holy. Weapons such as the Golden Order Greatsword or Golden Halberd can best exploit this weakness.

Answer: Fire

Whereas the beast is exposed with a 35% weakness to Holy, players will find its hide impenetrable to Fire, boasting a 70% resistance to it. Typically amazing weapons such as the Blasphemous Blade and Mohgywn's Sacred Spear will need to take a back seat for this one.

Answer: Bell-Bearing Hunter

If not the Bell-Bearing Hunter, it could also be the Demi-Human Swordsmaster and Queen duo boss fight. Between the two, good ol' Elemer certainly poses the most threat as he is difficult to slow down, notably is the literal only boss in the entire game to not even have a stagger animation to the player's Ultimate ability, and he simply hits like a truck and take hits like a champ for being so early in an Expedition.

Players struggling with the Bell-Bearing Hunter are advised to engage him in close quarters at all times, as giving him distance will prompt him to use his scarier ranged attacks that can be hard to dodge. As well, obtaining a good shield, even on characters that do not use shields very well, can make Elemer's comboes easier to deal with.

Answer: Morgott, the Omen King

If not Morgott, it will instead be a Tree Sentinel backed by two Royal Cavalrymen. Regardless, these fights are both significantly easier than fighting the Bell-Bearing Hunter. Morgott may be a lot faster and can be trickier to nail down and hit, but he does a pittance of damage by comparison and also sports almost no armor, making him easier to eventually kill when struck. The Tree Sentinel simply fails to pose much of a threat in general, especially for those who have played base "Elden Ring" before.

It is worth noting that, where Tricephalos boasts a weakness to Holy, both possible Night 2 bosses have high resistances to it. This encourages the player to consider the Night boss as well as the Expedition boss when gathering gear amidst their run.

Answer: Tricephalos splits into three

When reaching roughly 70% of its health, Tricephalos will howl loudly before emitting a small fiery explosion, the beast morphing into three huge fireballs which briefly roam the boss arena. When done roaming, singular beasts that previously made up the bigger Tricephalos will materialize.

Depending on whether fighting Everdark or not, Tricephalos can go back and forth between this state and its normal, single, three-headed beast form.

Answer: Quantity of enemies

Whereas the normal version sees Tricephalos start as a three-headed beast, the Everdark version begins with it already having split into three, single-headed beasts. The twist is that, this time when it phase transitions, Tricephalos will revert to being a three-headed beast, buff itself massively, then showcase a new, deadlier moveset that is harder to dodge and more punishing to be hit by.

Answer: The Duchess

The Duchess is first met, as a hooded woman standing next to the Roundtable Hold. Once the Old Pocketwatch is obtained, the players should approach and give it to her. Doing this does not remove it from the player's inventory, so they can proceed to use it afterward.

Part of The Duchess' moveset involves her using a pocketwatch to magically repeat the effects of the last several moments in combat, essentially allowing her to automatically repeat the damage she or her allies have dealt.

Answer: Taking Attacks Improves Attack Power

Uniquely, when fighting the Everdark Tricephalos, it will occasionally hold its sword in its mouth and walk slowly, allowing players to freely attack it. During this time, if they do so, Tricephalos will gain a hefty, temporary bonus to its damage output, enabling it to one-shot players easily for a time.

This mechanic was reflected in its signature Relic. One common theme about Expedition relics is that they try to emulate some aspect of the boss itself, and give that aspect to the player. In this instance, equipping the relic gives players the same effect of 'taking damage = dealing more damage temporarily" that Tricephalos can briefly enjoy during its Everdark fight.

In addition, Dark Night of the Beast moderately enhances the player's Fire attacks and refunds a small piece of their stamina when it is used on attacking moves which land. The former is a reflection of Tricephalos' main element of choice, while the latter is a portrayal on the beast's unrelenting attack patterns which get more ferocious the more it is able to land attacks.
