Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Brawler predictably aims to increase the player's proficiency with Knuckle weapons. At the very final Tier 5 of this perk, what unique benefit does the player gain a 20% chance to do with Knuckles?

Answer: Dismember enemies

By default, only Steel Knuckles have a Dismemberment rate, and even they have just a paltry 5% chance to do it. Tier 5 of The Brawler gives all Knuckles a base 20% Dismemberment rate, and the rate on Steel Knuckles increases to 25% in the process. Note that Knuckles can only dismember on Power Attacks.
2. Machine Gunner is a quirky perk. On paper, its impact is simple. In practice, one really interesting question immediately comes up: does Machine Gunner work even on non-Fortitude machine guns, despite being a Fortitude perk?

Answer: Yes

The MP5 is an Agility weapon, but it reaps the full benefits of Machine Gunner by virtue of being a Sub"Machine" "gun". As such, a player making an Agility build will likely divert some points to Fortitude just so they can access Machine Gunner.
3. Lightning Hands is intended to make the player punch faster. This is a perk with five different tiers for the player to invest skill points into reaching. For each tier, what is the added attack speed this perk provides?

Answer: 5%

After using five whole skill points, the player has a meagre 25% speed bonus to show for it. In practice, this really barely matters and is too tiny an amount to seriously impact the weapon. As such, Lightning Hands is actually a perk even Fortitude build players will frequently skip out on. Five skill points is a pretty major investment, and for that to go towards a 25% melee attack speed bonus is rarely ever worth it.
4. The Huntsman is meant to reward players who hunt animals. What does it do?

Answer: Give more resources from harvesting animals

On paper, this perk looks very out of place under the Fortitude tree; Perception lets the player hunt animals more efficiently with multiple perks, which may prompt one to ask why this perk isn't a Perception perk.

The answer to this can be found elsewhere under Fortitude: the Steel Knuckles. This weapon actually allows for optimal animal harvesting, functioning identically to the Machete in doing so. As such, a player with Steel Knuckles should consider this perk.
5. Pain Tolerance aims to do two simple things. The first is simply cause the player to take less damage from all sources. Eventually, after reaching Tier 5 Pain Tolerance, the player gets a really helpful immunity to what?

Answer: Stun

When Stunned, the player will move and turn at extremely slow rates for a few seconds. If they're being pursued by Zombies, the dead will absolutely have time to catch up. This can put players into a really bad situation.

With Level 5 Pain Tolerance, however, these worries can easily be rendered obsolete. At specifically T5, the player is now fully immune to Stun.
6. The Fortitude Mastery perk has a series of extremely useful attributes within it. Which of the following is one of them?

Answer: Increased Max HP

Fortitude Mastery is, hands down, the best 'Mastery' tree in the game. All attributes are useful to all builds, Fortitude or not. Tier 1 lets the player cure themselves of Bleed automatically by killing an enemy. Tier 2 grants the player a full two in-game days, two real world hours, of Infection immunity after recovering from Infection once. Tier 3 grants a chance for Zombies to drop Gold or Silver on dying to a Knuckle weapon. Finally, Tiers 4 and 5 each grant the player an extra 50 max HP.
7. Siphoning Strikes, as the title implies, lets the player heal when they attack zombies with Knuckles. What is the condition for this perk to heal?

Answer: Kill

Siphoning Strikes activates when the player kills a zombie with a Knuckle weapon. On doing so, they will heal an amount based on whatever Tier their Siphoning Strikes perk is at.
8. Healing Factor grants the player passive health regeneration. There is one, explictly stated condition that prevents this perk from working. What status condition can the player suffer that will disable Healing Factor?

Answer: Starvation

If the player's Food meter hits exactly zero, they will begin to suffer from the Starvation status effect. This effect will passively damage them until the Food meter stops being at zero.

Healing Factor would, in theory, allow the player to survive Starvation indefinitely. By making it disabled when starved, this perk avoids literally breaking the game.
9. Iron Gut functions as not just a useful survival perk, but a major quality of life enhancer as well. It comes packed with four separate buffs it gives the player. What is one of them?

Answer: Reduced food and water loss

Any time the player uses Stamina to do anything ever, it slowly reduces their food and water meters. Obviously, if these fall to zero, death via starvation or thirst will soon follow. Iron Gut, for one of its benefits, slows down the rate at which food and water loss incur from using Stamina.

Other than that, Iron Gut also increases the duration of consumable buffs, increases how long they can hold their breath underwater, and reduces the chances of contracting Dysentery from anything.
10. Rule 1: Cardio is very useful for players who prefer to travel on foot. What is one thing it does?

Answer: Reduces stamina consumption while moving

By the time the player reaches Tier 5 of this perk, it will be so strong that the player can combine it with a simple Beer buff to quite literally regenerate stamina while simultaneously sprinting, thus affording infinite sprinting. In the early game, sprinting tends to use tons and tons of stamina, making this perk very, very valuable.

Tiers 4 and 5 of this perk also increase the player's maximum Stamina, which is another massive boon to investing in this perk.
