Answer: Joniskis, Lithuania

He was born Lauruska Mischa Skikne in Lithuania in 1928, and changed his name to the more memorable Laurence Harvey after moving to South Africa. He later relocated to London in 1946.

Answer: Royal Academy of Dramatic Art

After moving to London in 1946, Harvey enrolled at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He then went on to perform with the Manchester Library Theatre and reportedly became a hustler to make ends meet. He made his film debut in 1948 in the film, "House of Darkness", starring as a psychopath.

"The Room at the Top" was released in 1959, and was based on a novel by John Braine. Laurence Harvey shines as a young working-class man, Joe Lampton, in a bleak northern town. He was the first Lithuanian to be nominated for an Oscar.
