"Murder She Wrote" ran from 1984 to 1996, although there have been two one-off TV specials in 2000 and 2001. The show featured Angela Lansbury as Jessica FLETCHER (3), a mystery WRITER (1) who lived in Cabot Cove, MAINE (4). Jessica is a widow, although she often mentions her late husband, FRANK (6). Wherever Jessica went, MURDER (5) seemed to follow and she usually solved the case, often with the help of her friend, DR (2) Seth Hazlitt (William Windom).

Her NEPHEW (9), Grady (Michael Horton) shared the family habit of getting himself involved in murders and often ended up the prime suspect. Recurring character, HARRY (7) McGraw (Law and Order's Jerry Orbach), had his own spin-off series. Jessica never learnt to drive and was often seen CYCLING (8) to the scene of the crime.
