Question 2 of 10
2. After leaving the house to school, I had to ride the bus to the downtown area. On the way there I saw a well known, tall skyscraper and a variety of other buildings. A prominent African American (probably of Haitian descent), Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable, founded the city. The city had a great fire a long time ago that was rumored to be started by a cow. The last clue I will give is that the city's name origin is believed to come from a Native American word meaning wild onion. Where do I live? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. After getting to school, I went to my first class World Studies. At the beginning of the year, we discussed the five themes of geography. Which is NOT one of the main five themes? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. After that, my next class was biology. We discussed biochemistry. Before we went into detail of the topic, we first had to understand what an atom is, what it does, how atoms bond, and such and such. Can you tell me the charges of the subatomic charges of an atom. Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. After I blurred through a class and lunch, I went to algebra class. We had quite an easy warmup compared to others. On the warmup, this problem came up: (-3x-8)(-7x+13) Easy right! Can you correctly expand it? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. After math class, I went to art class. The first thing we discussed in the class is the four main purposes of lines. Which one is not a main purpose? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. After art, my last period, Survey Literature, finally came. We are reading an epic right now. Before we started, we discussed some of the underlying principles or characteristics of an epic. Which one of these is not a characteristic of an epic? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. When I got home, I turned on the radio and heard my favorite rapper's new, controversial song. Here is a lyric from the song:
"It's Tuesday and I'm locked up
They say I was running butt naked
Down the street screaming (ah ah ah ah)
Well, I'm sorry, I don't remember
All I know is this much, I'm not guilty
They said "save it, boy we got you on tape, yelling at an old lady"
(touch my body)"
Who rap is this from, released in the fall of 2004?
Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. After listening to the radio, I watched television. I flicked on one of my favorite shows, "Jeopardy". I've been watching possibly one of the best "Jeopardy" champions. I saw his first appearance during the spring of 04 and was still watching him in fall of '04. This person has won over a million dollars (the first person to do so, actually) and has become an inspiration to me to learn more. Who is this champ who describes his self as a nerd who likes to read comics? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. I am a vegetarian, so for dinner, I didn't eat what? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When I woke up and got dressed, I put on a pair of pants created and sold during the California Gold Rush to stop the complaints of miners who had easily worn out clothes and to make money. What brand of pants did I put on?

Answer: Levis

Levi Strauss was the inventor of blue jeans. He began selling supplies to miners in California. After hearing them complain about their clothes being easily torn and worn out, Strauss became rich by inventing, selling, and improving jeans.

Answer: Chicago

Chicago, it's mainly fun when you are just visiting. The tall skyscraper I referred to was the Sears Tower. Chicago was founded by Native Americans, just exposed to the world by DuSable (I feel the same about Columbus and the Americas). Chicago used to be a swamp and had quite a stench to it, but the name Chicago may also refer to great or strong according to some historians. Chicago is a very big city, the second largest in the U.S.

This is why it takes me two hours and two buses just to get to High School (but it is a magnet school, so of course it's far away from my home).
3. After getting to school, I went to my first class World Studies. At the beginning of the year, we discussed the five themes of geography. Which is NOT one of the main five themes?

Answer: physical features

The five themes are location, place, human environmental interaction, movement, and region. The topic of physical features is a sub-topic of place.
4. After that, my next class was biology. We discussed biochemistry. Before we went into detail of the topic, we first had to understand what an atom is, what it does, how atoms bond, and such and such. Can you tell me the charges of the subatomic charges of an atom.

Answer: protons:positive; neutrons : no charge; electrons: negative

Protons are positive, neutrons has no charge, and electrons are negative. Atoms are the smallest, basic units of matter. If you remembered the charges, good for you. If not, take back out that chemistry book.
5. After I blurred through a class and lunch, I went to algebra class. We had quite an easy warmup compared to others. On the warmup, this problem came up: (-3x-8)(-7x+13) Easy right! Can you correctly expand it?

Answer: 21x^2+17x - 104

If you haven't done this in a while, all you have to do is multiply the binomials. Because I still don't understand the method, I use the F.O.I.L. method. FOIL stands for front, outside, inside ,and last.

First you multiply the first two numbers of each binomial:
-3x * -7x = 21x^2
Then you multiply the first and last number of the problem as if it was a whole: -3x * 13 = -39x
Then you multiply the two inside numbers:
-8 * -7x = 56x
Last, you multiply the last numbers of each binomial:
-8 * 13 = -104
Then you come up with 21x^2 - 39x + 56x - 104
Combine common terms and you come up with the answer!
6. After math class, I went to art class. The first thing we discussed in the class is the four main purposes of lines. Which one is not a main purpose?

Answer: compare

The four main purposes of lines are to create movement, emphasis, divide, and to connect.
7. After art, my last period, Survey Literature, finally came. We are reading an epic right now. Before we started, we discussed some of the underlying principles or characteristics of an epic. Which one of these is not a characteristic of an epic?

Answer: must be at least five hundred pages

The epic we are reading is "The Odyssey." At first I was kind of interested because we learned a bit about Greek Mythology but now I enjoy it more because the teacher points out some interesting facts or points and themes made. We've discussed the first four books which include themes of hospitality and unwelcome or impolite guests, (shown through the suitors, Telemakhos, and Athena) according to the Greeks.

Another theme is how humans are responsible for their own actions which is pointed out by the gods who says humans blame the gods when bad things happen, such as Odysseus being stuck at sea. Most of the time, Poseidon is blamed but actually, it's Odysseus' fault for stabbing Poseidon's son Polyphemos (a Cyclops) in his only eye.

The same is true for Agamemnon's story in which Agisthos is to blame.
8. When I got home, I turned on the radio and heard my favorite rapper's new, controversial song. Here is a lyric from the song: "It's Tuesday and I'm locked up They say I was running butt naked Down the street screaming (ah ah ah ah) Well, I'm sorry, I don't remember All I know is this much, I'm not guilty They said "save it, boy we got you on tape, yelling at an old lady" (touch my body)" Who rap is this from, released in the fall of 2004?

Answer: Eminem

The lyric comes from "Just Lose It." The hint in the question was controversial. Em's new video caused Michael Jackson to ask several stations such as BET and MTV stop playing the video because it includes several scenes depicting Jackson. We all know Em dresses up like several people and Jackson just is asking for his sake, but Eminem will be Eminem.

Answer: Ken Jennings

This one is a bit harder than the other ones but if you are like an average American, you've probably heard or at least flipped over it (through TV of course). Ken Jennings is an amazing champ and person. Hopefully, he uses what he gains and knows for good.
10. I am a vegetarian, so for dinner, I didn't eat what?

Answer: meat

It is not as hard as everyone says or thinks. Some people even believe being a vegetarian may improve intelligence, help maintain a healthier body (as long as you eat right), and can even make you feel better at times. To me, it takes away the frequent, awkward moments where you're wondering what you are eating and is it cooked right. (Of course I still ask these questions but not as frequently.) It also allows me to make my friends who eat meat sick!
