1. Who was the only Ronette to sing on "Be My Baby"?

Answer: Ronnie Bennett

Diana Ross and Tina Turner were not in the Ronettes. The Ronettes were an American girl group. The Ronettes began as "The Darling Sisters" and became "The Ronettes" when signed by producer Phil Spector. The group was from Spanish Harlem in New York.
2. "Be My Baby" featured what young backup singer, who would later go on to a solo career with albums such as "All I Really Want to Do," "Backstage," and "Dark Lady?"

Answer: Cher

Sony Bono introduced Cher to Phil Spector, who used her as a backup singer on the song. Released in August of 1963, "Be My Baby" spent 13 weeks on the U.S. singles chart, peaking at number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
3. What songwriting partners, who also penned "Chapel of Love," wrote "Be My Baby"?

Answer: Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich

Born Joel Adelberg, Jeff Barry is also known for co-writing "Do Wah Diddy Diddy," "Then He Kissed Me," and "River Deep - Mountain High" with his one-time wife Ellie Greenwich. The writing partners produced songs for such acts as the Ronettes, the Crystals, and the Shangri-Las. Phil Spector, who, in keeping with his standard arrangement, also got a writing credit for the song, was not satisfied, Rolling Stone reports, until after 42 takes of the song.
4. What Beach Boy was inspired by this song and told The New York Times he listened to it over a thousand times?

Answer: Brian Wilson

"Spector created a lush, echo-laden sound," writes Rolling Stone magazine, "that was the Rosetta stone for studio pioneers such as the Beatles and Brian Wilson, who calls this his favorite song."

According to AllMusic, Brian Wilson declared "Be My Baby" to be "the greatest pop record ever made."
5. Producer Phil Spector's approach to this song, which included creative mixing in the studio and an array of instruments (from saxophones and pianos to strings) became known as what?

Answer: The Wall of Sound

"The Wall of Sound" was also known as "the Spector Sound." It was a production approach created in the 1960s at Gold Star Studios by Phil Spector and sound engineer Larry Levine, along with "the Wrecking Crew" session musicians. The aim was to concoct a dense orchestral sound.
6. "The night we met, I knew I needed you so / And if I had the chance I'd never" what?

Answer: Let you go

The song continues:

"So won't you say you love me
I'll make you so proud of me
We'll make 'em turn their heads every place we go."

"Be My Baby" hit number four on the U.S. Billboard R&B charts and on the UK Singles Charts. It also made the top ten in Norway, New Zealand, Canada, and Belgium (Flanders).
7. "I'll make you happy, baby, just wait and see / For every kiss you give me, I'll give you" how many?

Answer: three

The song continues:

"Oh, since the day I saw you
I have been waiting for you
You know I will adore you 'til eternity."

8. "So won't you, please / (Be my, be my baby) Be my ____ baby." What kind of baby?

The chorus of the song runs:

"So come on and please
(Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby
(My one and only baby) Say you'll be my darlin'
(Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now
Wha-oh-oh-oh"

"Be My Baby" was released as a single in 1963 with "Tedesco and Pitman" on the B-Side. It was also included in the 1964 album "Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica." This was the Ronnette's only studio album and consisted of previously released singles.
9. Whose 1972 cover of "Be My Baby" climbed to number 15 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart?

Answer: Jody Miller

The song was included on Jody Miller's album "There's a Party Goin' On." Her version also made Billboard's Easy Listening chart, at number 35. "Be My Baby" has also been covered by Shaun Cassidy, Leslie Grace, and the Teen Queens.
10. According to drummer Hal Blaine, "Be My Baby" uses the same drum beat as what song composed by Bert Kaempfert and famously sung by Frank Sinatra?

Answer: Strangers in the Night

Hal Blaine played drums for both "Strangers in the Night" and "Be My Baby." In the "Percussion and Arts Society" article on Hal Blaine, he is quoted as saying, "If you listen closely, I played the same beat on 'Strangers in the Night' that I played on 'Be My Baby,' just slower and softer." Other musicians on the song included Frank Capp on percussion, Al De Lory on keyboards, and Steve Douglas on saxophone.
