Henry was the third of eight children. His parents were Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Only four children lived to adulthood. Arthur died when he was 15 in 1502.

This was considered the supreme victory during her reign. After Elizabeth died, James VI of Scotland became James I of England. 1587 is remembered for the beheading of Mary, Queen of Scots. The ships left Spain in July 1588 and were soon spotted off the coast of England.
