Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which American state was the first to pass anti-stalking laws after a spate of murders that had started as stalking cases?

Answer: California

After Richard Farley shot and killed nine people and wounded four others after years of stalking fellow employee Laura Black, the state of California enacted some of the most stringent stalking laws in the nation. Within three years of California passing the first stalking law, all 50 states in the nation had passed laws of their own.A movie starring Brooke Shields and Richard Thomas was made about the incident and was called "I Can Make You Love Me".

In Britain it was called "The Stalking of Laura Black". Richard Farley was still sitting on death row 20 years later.
2. The United States does not have a monopoly on stalkers. The stalking murder of Shiori Ino in 1999 caused an uproar in which Asian country?

Answer: Japan

The stalking murder of Shiori Ino shocked the people of Japan. She and her family had attempted numerous times to report the man who was stalking her and sending unwanted gifts. They also attempted to cover up their own responsibility. The stalking laws in Japan were changed immediately after this incident.

Answer: False

Women do engage in stalking but not as often as men do. Women tend to do it more often in daylight hours and are usually not as prone to violence. Often this is because the female being stalked is seen as interfering with the stalker's imaginary relationship with a man she is interested in.

7. Which North American law enforcement agency was sued in 2004 by Bonnie Mooney after her stalker of five years killed her friend and maimed her daughter?

Answer: RCMP

Ms. Mooney sued the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) after they refused to provide proper protection from her stalker. When she tried to make reports she was told to see a lawyer. 8. When he stabbed her over ten times, how had the stalker of American movie actress Theresa Saldana obtained her home address?

Answer: Through her mother

Arthur Jackson convinced the star's mother that he worked for Martin Scorsese and needed Theresa's home address so that he could offer a job in an upcoming movie. After knocking on her door in broad daylight he stabbed her 10 times in the chest, bending the knife.

He had spent years writing fan letters, attempting to meet her, following her from city to city. He was sure that they were soul mates from a past life. He received a 14 year prison sentence and then was extradited to Great Britain to be tried for a similar successful crime there.

He died in prison.
9. Which blond Russian tennis star has been stalked by a crazed fan who swam nude across the Bay of Biscayne in an attempt to meet her face to face?

He ended up three doors down, lounged by the pool while he recovered from the swim and was subsequently arrested. At one time he also stalked one of the Spice Girls and was also found guilty of stabbing a sleeping college student.

He was ordered to stay 1,000 ft from the tennis star and given six months in a mental facility. All choices have been professional female tennis players.
