Jeffrey Scott (Jeff) George was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons. He played in college at the University of Illinois. He was the very first played pickedin the 1990 draft, taken by the Indianapolis Colts. He also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks.

George H. W. Bush was VP under Ronald Reagan and later served as President. He played baseball at Yale and served as team captain. He also played in the first two College World Series.

George Clinton was the fourth Vice President of the United States from 1805 to 1812, serving under Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. He also was the governor of New York for 21 years.

George Dallas served as Vice President under President James K. Polk. Before that, he was the 80th mayor of Philadelphia.

Schuyler Colfax was the 17th Vice President of the United States (1869-1873) serving under Ulysses S. Grant. At the time of their inauguration, President Grant and Colfax, (46 and 45) were the youngest Elected President and VP and remained so until the inauguration of Bill Clinton and Al Gore in 1993.

Marlin Briscoe was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 1968. He was the first black starting quarterback in the American Football League and established a Denver rookie record of 14 touchdown passes that season. He played in the NFL for nine years with Denver, Buffalo, Miami, San Diego, Detroit and New England.

Cecil Isbell played QB with the Green Bay Packers from 1938 to 1942 and was famous for passing to Don Hutson. He led the Packers to the NFL Championship in 1939. He is a member of the NFL 1930s All-Decade Team and was twice the NFL Passing TD Leader (1941, 1942)and twice the NFL Passing Yardage Leader (1941, 1942). He was elected to the Packers Hall of Fame in 1972.

Heath Shuler was a first-round pick in the 1994 NFL Draft, taken by the Washington Redskins with the third overall pick. He never played very well and was often injured. In 1996, he was traded to New Orleans, where poor play and injuries led to "Football Outsiders" magazine naming Shuler "The least valuable quarterback of 1997." After retiring, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina's 11th district and served from January 3, 2007 to January 3, 2013

John Nance Garner nicknamed "Cactus Jack" was elected the 32nd Vice President of the United States, serving from 1933 to 1941 with Franklin Roosevelt. He and FDR disagreed on a number of issues. In 1940, Garner ran against FDR in the Democratic primary. Roosevelt won on the first ballot as Garner got 61 votes out of 1,093. Roosevelt dumped Garner and chose Henry A. Wallace to be his Vice Presidential running mate. Apparently, many Democrats did not find Garner to be an appealing candidate, as one union leader (John L. Lewis) described him as "a labor-baiting, poker-playing, whiskey-drinking, evil old man".

Leslie Lynch King, Jr. is the given name of Gerald R. Ford who was the 40th Vice President of the United States serving from 1973 to 1974 under President Richard Nixon. He was also the 38th President of the United States, serving from 1974 to 1977. He he did not legally change his name until December 3, 1935 when he was in his early 20s. He played center and linebacker for the University of Michigan's football team and helped the Wolverines to undefeated seasons and national titles in 1932 and 1933.

Jack Kemp was a professional quarterback for 13 years. He played in the National Football League (NFL), the Canadian Football League (CFL), and was a star QB in the American Football League (AFL) where he was the captain of both the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills. He was honored as the AFL Most Valuable Player in 1965 after leading the Bills to a second consecutive AFL championship. Kemp was also a politician. He served as Housing Secretary under President George H. W. Bush from 1989 to 1993, after previously serving nine terms as a congressman for Western New York's 31st congressional district. Ironically, he was the Republican Party's nominee for Vice President in the 1996 election, where he was the running mate of presidential nominee Bob Dole. However, Dole/Kemp was defeated by Clinton/Gore in the 1996 election.

Virgil R. Carter is a former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League and the World Football League from 1967 through 1976. He is considered to be the first great quarterback from Brigham Young University. He had his best year (1971) playing for the Bengals under the tutelage of then-offensive coordinator Bill Walsh.

Gary Hogeboom is a former quarterback in the National Football League and a contestant on the CBS reality TV show "Survivor: Guatemala". He played for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Phoenix Cardinals, and Washington Redskins during his career that went from 1980 to 1990. In 1987, as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Hogeboom was one of the few regular players in the NFL who did not participate in that year's player strike. He played QB with the replacement players, who were hired to play in the games scheduled during the strike. The Colts' victories in those games allowed the Colts to earn their first playoff berth in ten years. As a "Survivor" contestant, Hogeboom was eliminated on day 30.

He had an interracial relationship with Julia Chinn, an octoroon slave which worked against his political ambitions. Unlike other political and civic leaders who had African American mistresses but never mentioned them, Johnson openly treated Chinn as his common law wife. He acknowledged their two daughters as his children, giving them his surname.

Andrew Johnson was the 16th VP serving under Abraham Lincoln and he became the 17th President after Lincoln was assassinated. A Democrat, Johnson battled with the Republican congress and became the first president to be impeached but he was acquitted in the Senate by one vote.

He also quarterbacked the Orlando Predators and Buffalo Destroyers in the Arena Football League. Nagle was drafted by the Jets with the 34th pick in the 1991 NFL Draft one pick after Brett Favre was taken.

Thomas Andrews Hendricks was the 21st Vice President of the United States under Grover Cleveland. After winning the 1884 election, Hendricks died after only eight months in office.

Sherman is a member of the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in Commack, Long Island, New York.

Kordell Stewart nicknamed "Slash," played eleven years in the NFL. His 38 QB rushing touchdowns ranks behind Steve Young's 43. He was an AFC Pro Bowl selection and AFC Offensive Player of the Year in 2001.

Todd Alan Blackledge was a quarterback in both the NCAA and NFL. In college, he led the Penn State Nittany Lions to a national championship (1982) and as a pro, he played for the Kansas City Chiefs (1983-1987) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (1988-1989). Blackledge was the seventh pick in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft, taken by the Chiefs. He was picked behind John Elway but ahead of Dan Marino and Jim Kelly. Elway, Marino, and Kelly are in the Hall of Fame. Blackledge is not.
