Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Is the following an actual and complete quote from the Holy Bible (King James Version)? "And a little child shall lead them."

Answer: Yes

This is found in Isaiah 11:6. Isaiah is prophesying the beginning of the new earth. "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."
2. Does the Holy Bible (King James Version) contain the following phrase?: "God helps those who help themselves."

Answer: No

God definitely has the ability to help those who ask for it. Whether he gives us the tools to help ourselves or intervenes on our behalves, we sure could use His help. But, the Bible doesn't say anywhere that we need to help ourselves for Him to help us.
3. Is this an actual quote from the Holy Bible (King James Version)? - "Cleanliness is next to Godliness."

Answer: No

Even though Christians are taught to "honor our temples" (stay healthy and clean in appearance), this is not a Bible quote. The religious people in the time of Jesus had very strict rituals about cleaning themselves after touching certain foods or objects, but Christians do not believe these rules to have been necessary.
4. "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock." This is a popular quote from Jesus on pictures, but it appears nowhere in the four gospels. Is it really in the Holy Bible (King James Version)?

Answer: Yes. Jesus also spoke in Revelation, which is where this quote comes from.

John was to write unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans. "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20.
5. Is the following an actual and complete quote from the Holy Bible (King James Version)? "Do unto others as they do unto you."

Answer: No

The actual quote from Jesus in the King James Version is, "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise" (Luke 6:31), or in our words: "Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you." The version in the question is a huge change in meaning.
6. Is this a complete quote from the King James Version of the Holy Bible? "Money is the root of all evil."

Answer: No, the complete quote is "The love of money is the root of all evil."

It's actually the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.
"But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:9,10.
7. Does the Holy Bible (King James Version) contain this phrase?: "The heart is deceitful above all things."

Answer: Yes

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." Jeremiah 17:9,10.
8. Will you find the following phrase in the Holy Bible (King James Version)? "What would Jesus do?"

Answer: No

This is just a popular phrase that was popularized by Rev. Charles M. Sheldon's book "In His Steps" which reminds followers to be like Christ at all times. It can still be found on bracelets, shirts and other Christian items everywhere.
9. Is the following an actual and complete quote from the Holy Bible (King James Version)? - "Spare the rod, spoil the child."

Answer: No, this is a paraphrase of the actual quote "He who spareth the rod hateth his son..."

Proverbs 13:24 (King James Version)- "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." The phrase "Spare the rod, spoil the child" is considered by some to be true to life, but isn't specifically in the Bible. Discipline, with love, is used to steer children away from that which will hurt them.
10. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." This is another popular quote on plaques in many homes. But - is it in the Holy Bible?

Answer: Yes

Yes, it is. Right there in Joshua 24:15: "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
