Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Out of the four names below, which one does not belong as the person is not mentioned in the book of Genesis?

Answer: David

David, a king of Israel, is the correct answer. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were all patriarchs in the Book of Genesis, the first book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. According to Scripture, Abraham was the father of Isaac who was the father of Jacob.

Meanwhile, David was an unassuming shepherd boy who slayed the Philistine giant Goliath and ascended to become king of Israel.
2. Out of the four names below, which one does not belong as she was a queen while the others were not royalty?

Answer: Esther

Out of the four names listed, Esther is the only one who served as a queen. What's more, she is the only one of the four who is mentioned in the Old Testament. A book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible bears her name.

Susana, Mary and Martha are women who are all mentioned in the New Testament. Susana is mentioned as a follower of Jesus in Luke 8:1-3 while Mary and Martha were the sisters of Lazarus, as per John 11. There are a number of other women in the New Testament called Mary, including the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.
3. Out of the four names of Old Testament books below, which one does not belong as it is not part of the Pentateuch?

Answer: Malachi

The odd one out is the book of Malachi, part of the Minor Prophet section of the Christian Bible and the Twelve Prophet section of the Hebrew Bible. The book was written by Malachi, a prophet of God. In order of appearance in the Christian Bible, Malachi is the last book in the Old Testament. Notes in the NKJV Study Bible state Malachi means 'My Messenger'.

Genesis, Exodus and Leviticus are all part of the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. Tradition holds the books of the Pentateuch were written by Moses, but a number of modern day theologians see things differently.
4. Out of the four names below, which one does not belong as he was not a king, but a prophet of God?

Answer: Elisha

Elisha was a prophet of God making him different from Saul, David and Solomon who were all kings of Israel. All four of them appear as active players in the Old Testament.

Interestingly, the names of all four also appear in the New Testament with the names David and Solomon appearing multiple times. Elisha's name can be found in Luke 4:27 and Saul's name in Acts 13:21.
5. Out of the four names below, which one does not belong as he was a king and not a judge of Israel?

Answer: Ahab

Ahab is the odd one out as he was a king of Israel while Othniel, Eli and Samson were all judges of Israel.

Ahab's exploits largely appear in 1 Kings, 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles. Along with his wife Jezebel, he is noted for being evil and a bitter adversary of prophets of God. The exploits of the three judges can be fittingly found in the book of Judges.
6. Out of the four names below, which one does not belong as he was adversary of the early church and not a follower of Jesus like the other three?

Answer: Alexander

Alexander was an adversary of Christians while Barnabas, Timothy and Silas were all workers in the early church, laboring alongside Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles.

The exploits of Barnabas, Timothy and Silas can be found in the Book of Acts with their names appearing multiple times.

While the names of Barnabas, Timothy and Silas can be found multiple times, Alexander's name appears only once. He is mentioned in only 2 Timothy, and is described as a coppersmith who was apparently strongly opposed to the Christian message. (In the NIV, Alexander is described as a metalworker.)

The name Alexander also appears in 1 Timothy 1:20, but there is no conclusive proof it is the same man who was a coppersmith.
7. Out of the four Bible books below, which one does not belong as it was not written by the same person?

Answer: Revelation

Revelation was written by John of Patmos while the three other books were all written by Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles.

On top of this, Revelation is a book of prophecy while the three books by Paul are are largely devoted to information about living the Christian life.
8. Out of the four names below, which one does not belong as she was not a member of the early church like the other three?

Answer: Drusilla

Drusilla, a Jewish woman who was the wife of Felix, as per Acts 24:24, is the correct answer.

Lydia, Euodia and Tabitha, who was also known as Dorcas, were all workers in the early church. There is no indication in Scripture, however, that Drusilla was a Christian.
9. Out of the four names of New Testament books below, which one does not belong as it is not one of the four Gospels?

Answer: Philemon

Philemon, a letter written by Paul to the master of a run-away slave, is the correct answer. In the order of appearance in the New Testament, Philemon is the last of the thirteen books Paul is credited with writing.

Matthew, Mark and John are three of the four Gospels that appear at the start of the New Testament. The missing Gospel is Luke. The four Gospels are devoted to telling the story of Jesus and His teachings as well as His life and death which was followed by His resurrection and ascension to Heaven.
10. Out of the four names below, which one does not belong as he was not one of the original Twelve Disciples?

Answer: Barnabas

The correct answer is Barnabas, a worker in the early church.

Peter, John and Matthew were also workers in the early church but they have the distinction of being part of the original Twelve Disciples of Jesus. In addition, the three are credited with writing books in the New Testament.

Barnabas was known as the 'Son of Encouragement', as per Luke 4:36.
