Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What year did 'Pro Bowlers Tour' (PBT) premier on ABC?

Answer: 1962

2. Ed Lubanski is the only bowler to do what on national TV?

Answer: Bowl two perfect games back-to-back

This amazing feat was done on CBS-TV in 1959. Unfortunately, the American Bowling Congress (ABC) could not sanction these games. Reason being is that this was a 'scotch doubles' tournament where the first of a four-man team would throw the first ball and continue as long as he made strikes. Once he missed a strike, the second member of the team throws the second ball to try and convert the spare, then continue until he missed a strike.

The third member would take over from there, and so forth.
3. In 1970, Don Johnson won the Firestone Tournament Of Champions with an unforgettable 299! Which pin denied him of the perfect game (as well as an extra {$10,000} and a new car)?

Answer: 10

Along with the $25,000 check and the tournament trophy, Don was given another trophy: the stubborn 10 pin!
4. Who was the first bowler to bowl an official 300 on the PBT?

Answer: Jack Biondolillo

Jack Biondolillo threw his perfect game in the 1967 Firestone Tournament Of Champions in Akron, Ohio. The other three bowlers listed here also threw perfect games on {TV;} Johnny Guenther in 1969, Jim Stefanich in 1974, and Pete McCordic in 1987.
5. Who was the first pro bowler to earn over {$1,000,000} in the Pro Bowler's Association (PBA)?

Answer: Earl Anthony

Surpassed the one million mark at the 1982 PBA National Championship!
6. He was the first to covert the 7-10 split on the PBT. Who was it?

Answer: Mark Roth

7. Which professional bowler is nicknamed 'Bo'?

Answer: Nelson Burton, Jr.

He is also well known as Chris Schenkel's PBT co-host for many years.
8. What is pro bowler Walter Ray Williams Jr's other sports profession?

Answer: Horseshoes

Quite an underhander in both sports!
9. Going back to Don Johnson's famous 299 victory at the 1970 Tournament of Champions, whom did he defeat for the championship?

Answer: Dick Ritger

10. Where is the National Bowling Hall Of Fame?

Answer: Arlington, Texas

A beautiful place to visit. You can even bowl a few frames on their modern lanes or old fashioned laquer surface lanes.
