Question 1 of 10
1. Joss Whedon made a pretty bold statement in the very first episode of "Buffy" when he called it "Welcome to the Hellmouth". Not only was Sunnydale literally sitting atop a mouth to hell, but the residents suffered all forms of torment therein. Which of these "BTVS" characters had the distinguished honor of being the first to be eaten alive? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. As time went by on both "Buffy" and "Angel", it became apparent that death was not always the end. Humans died and became vampires. Though most were soulless demons, they were resurrected nonetheless. Which feisty human died early into "Buffy", only to be brought back to life by Xander? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Sunnydale High's first openly gay character was Larry. Xander sort of forced Larry to admit he was gay in "Phases", though Xander had no idea of it at the time. He thought Larry was a werewolf, but it turned out to be Oz. It was sad that Larry died, because in an alternate dimension he may have worked alongside Giles and been known to vamps as what? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Life's never easy for a short idiot. At least that was how Jonathan perceived what others thought of him. It wasn't easy when the Inca Mummy girl tried to suck out his life force. It wasn't easy when he planned suicide on campus. It wasn't easy when he created an alternate world where he was a "Superstar", and it wasn't easy when he trusted the wrong person. By who and what method did sweet little Jonathan Levinson meet his fate? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. When Angel left Sunnydale, he took up residence in a city ripe for crime. In Los Angeles, Angel tasked himself with a solo mission of "helping the helpless". Of course, no real hero is ever alone for long, and soon he had many humans helping his cause. Which of Angel's helpers did make it out alive? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Lilah Morgan was an evil lawyer who never apologized for the choices she'd made. I think the only smart and decent thing she ever did on "Angel" was having an affair with Wesley. Even that started out as ploy to spy on Angel and Connor. After surviving four seasons in her male dominated world of evil, Lilah finally met her match with evil Cordy/Jasmine. Where was Lilah, that she never got out alive? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. A true hero will sacrifice herself without thought. Cordelia Chase had one of the most amazing hero arcs over her time in Sunnydale and then Los Angeles. As we all know, she stepped into her hero role a bit reluctantly, but once accepted, she was all in. Which event listed was NOT one on Cordy's journey before she died in the final season of "Angel"? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Both series showed that when one sacrificed oneself for the greater good.. well, one tended to get sexier. It seemed to apply to Wesley more so than most, since he appeared in Sunnydale as a reticent, needy, insecure oaf. After cementing himself deeply with the 'Good and Plenties' of Angel Investigations, he was forced to risk his life to protect baby Connor. It looked like his number was surely up when which enemy slit his throat and stole the baby? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. A simple, albeit brilliant, young woman from Texas was sucked through a portal into a land where humans were viewed as beasts of burden. You'd think that might be her undoing, but it wasn't. Which of these characters was NOT linked to Fred Burkle's demise in the final season of "Angel"? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. Alongside Cordy and Spike, I feel that Anya had the third most interesting hero arc. She arrived in Sunnydale all set to dish out a dose of vengeance, but it was Cordy's wish who caused her to be human again after over 1100 years. She died a hero, protecting Andrew Wells. But, who was it that inspired her to begin a life of vengeance? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Principal Flutie

This unfortunate turn of events occurred in the season one episode "The Pack". While exploring the Sunnydale Zoo, Xander and several of his classmates became possessed by the hyenas' spirits. It may have just been one hyena spirit, but I do not think so.

The fivesome began to exhibit signs of aggression and mindless predatory behavior. Though Xander himself was not present when Principal Flutie was eaten, he did take part in eating Herbert, the school mascot. The rest of Xander's pack were Kyle, Tor, Heidi and Rhonda. Jack O'Toole was eaten by werewolf Oz in season three's "The Zeppo", and Principal Snyder was eaten by the demon Mayor Wilkins in "Graduation Day Pt. 2". Though Tucker Wells raised a group of hellhounds to attack the Prom in season three, his brother Andrew never reported later that he'd been consumed by any of them.
2. As time went by on both "Buffy" and "Angel", it became apparent that death was not always the end. Humans died and became vampires. Though most were soulless demons, they were resurrected nonetheless. Which feisty human died early into "Buffy", only to be brought back to life by Xander?

Answer: Buffy, the slayer

Buffy was the only one of these characters to die whilst on "BTVS". Cordy died in the final season of "Angel". In the season one finale, "Prophecy Girl", Buffy died at the hands of the Master, which allowed him to escape his prison. Xander and Angel found her, drowned in a pool of water, but Angel was unable to save her due to his lack of breath. Xander performed CPR and Buffy awoke ready to do damage.

She killed the Master, only to go on and die again in the season five finale. And while I do not argue the fact that Angel did not need to breathe, I do argue that he could.

There are countless scenes of David Boreanaz breathing fast and/or gasping for air, and on both shows.

Answer: A White Hat

Larry first presented to the audience has a hyper aggressive male chauvinist. It seemed that it was all an act to prevent anyone from realizing he was gay. When he did tell Xander the truth, he seemed relieved that Xander was also gay. Xander was not gay at all, but thinking Larry was a werewolf, was trying to bond on a predator level from his time as a hyena. Xander never did get around to telling Larry that he was straight, and Larry died during the fight against the mayor. But, before he died, Larry was a White Hat alongside Oz, Giles and Nancy in the season three episode "The Wish".

This episode marked the first of many appearances by Emma Caulfied as Anya. Cordelia wished that Buffy had never come to Sunnydale, and that was made true. Giles was still there, and Cordy was able to tell him enough to get her wish reversed. But, not before she, Willow, Xander, Buffy and Angel were all killed.

Answer: Andrew wells stabbed him to death

In his heart, Jonathan was always a good person. He even felt awful after he created his super persona in "Superstar", as he'd made people feel used. In the end, his sweet trusting ways got him killed at the hands of another mostly decent human being. Andrew Wells was the brother of hellhound raising Tucker.

He and Jonathan joined with the slimy Warren Mears to "team up and take over Sunnydale" in season six. After Warren's death (being skinned by Willow), the duo fled to Mexico, but the First Evil sent Andrew back to Sunnydale, Jonathan in tow. Disguised as Warren, the First had Andrew stab Jonathan over the Seal of Danzalthar in order to open it. Danny Strong played Jonathan.

He went on to spend quite a few episodes on "The Gilmore Girls" and wrote the screenplay for "Lee Daniel's The Butler".

Answer: Kate

Detective Kate Lockley appeared first in the series' second episode. At first, she and Angel formed a mutually beneficial partnership as cop and private investigator. A few times it even appeared as though Kate was attracted to Angel, but then most women were attracted to him.

When her father died at the hands of vampires, Kate snapped. Having discovered and slightly tolerated Angel being a vampire a short time prior, she could no longer tolerate the idea of unnatural beings in her city. She slowly lost her "stuff" over a season and a half, destroyed her career, and almost overdosed on pills and booze. Angel saved her life by busting into her home and reviving her.

She thought it was a miracle, as she'd never invited him him. I say he got in because she had died, and he brought her back to life. Elisabeth Rohm played Kate.

Answer: The Hyperion Hotel

After she'd been injured during the beast's attack on Wolfram & Hart, Lilah escape the building with Wesley down into the sewers. Afterward, she told Wes that Connor was still up there, trapped inside with the beast. The beast killed every employee, save Lilah, during his attack. Lilah lived that day, only to die later where she thought she was temporarily safe- the hotel. Evil Cordy stabbed her in the neck to frame Angelus for her death. Until Angel came back, everyone did think Angelus had killed her. Wes had to remove Lilah's head just in case she'd been turned. During his time of reflection, he realized that they'd need Faith to get Angelus back alive and restore Angel's soul back in his body.

Answer: She sacrificed her life to protect baby Harry

Baby Harry was protected from the killing curse by his mother Lily Potter in the series created by author J.K. Rowling. Cordy unknowingly accepted Doyle's visions when he decided to sacrifice himself in the "Angel" season one episode "Hero". He kissed her and the visions passed on to her, though I do not think he knew this would happen.

She then tried to give them away by kissing Angel, Barney, and then Wesley. She finally accepted they were hers to carry, as one gift from Doyle that she'd never lose.

When those visions came close to killing her in season three, she allowed herself to be imbued with demonic powers to survive. She had no way of knowing this would still lead to her death. At the end of season four, Cordy accepted her offer from Skip to become a Higher Power.

She ascended but quickly became bored and restless, begging a clueless Angel to find a way to rescue her. She was returned to Earth, though she brought a hitchhiker along for the ride. Another former Higher Power named Jasmine used Cordy and Connor to bring herself forth from Cordy's body.

This left Cordy almost brain dead. She did return for one episode in season five to set Angel on his truth path and say goodbye. RIP Cordelia Chase. Buffy, the Vampire Slayer herself, also learned in the final season of her series that her power came from demons as well. Though, Dracula had tried to tell her that much much earlier.

Answer: Justine

Wesley arrived in Sunnydale in the third season of "Buffy" after Giles had been fired by the Watcher's Council. And, while Giles wasn't super confident when he started, Wesley's false confidence and ineptitude made Giles look like a superhero. He too ended up unemployed after he lost control of Faith and Buffy quit working for the Council. Like LeBron James, Wesley decided to take his talents elsewhere. Of course, it turned out that Council just refused to pay for a plane ticket back to England. So, after Doyle died, Wesley appeared in Los Angeles and quickly entrenched himself with Angel and Cordy.

His skills and confidence grew with their support, and later in his friendship with Gunn. Sadly, Wesley translated a false prophecy which read 'the father will kill the son' and believed he had to leave town with Connor. Justine tricked Wes and ended up slitting his throat and taking Connor. Connor ended up growing up in the Quor'toth dimension and emerged a very angry 17 year old at the end of season three. Angel forgave Wesley the betrayal, and the pair worked side by side at Wolfram & Hart in the show's final season. Angel made a deal with the Senior Partners to take over the L.A. branch of the law firm with the caveat that Connor would get new memories.

A demon named Cyvus Vail created and erased memories, including those of Angel's team. Wesley was the only member of the team to get those memories back, along with Connor himself. It was Cyvus who killed Wes in the series finale. Then, Illyria killed Cyvus.
9. A simple, albeit brilliant, young woman from Texas was sucked through a portal into a land where humans were viewed as beasts of burden. You'd think that might be her undoing, but it wasn't. Which of these characters was NOT linked to Fred Burkle's demise in the final season of "Angel"?

Answer: Buffy

I'd like to argue that both Lilah and Angel were also responsible, but that happened in the season four finale. Angel and Lilah's deal to give Connor a new life, erasing everyone's memories, in my opinion was the tipping point for Wes, Gunn, Lorne, and Fred accepting the deal to run Wolfram & Hart. But, it was Knox and Dr. Sparrow who made sure that Illyria's coffin was brought into Wolfram & Hart after it left the Deeper Well. Dr. Sparrow's brain upgrade began to unravel inside Gunn at a most convenient moment. Gunn would have signed just about any paper set before him in order to keep his new intelligence. Fred's natural curiosity and puzzling mind couldn't resist touching the sarcophagus, which freed Illyria's essence. Fred was infected with the ancient demon, who came forth, burning Fred up in the process. Illyria had Fred's memories as well as it's own, and could appear as Fred when needed. Amy Acker played Fred on four seasons of the show. Marc Vann played Dr. Sparrow on three episodes of "Angel", but American fans may be more familiar with his long time role as Conrad Ecklie on "CSI".

Answer: Olaf

When Anya was first human, her name was Aud. She was an outspoken, but overly generous person who loved a bear sized man named Olaf. Olaf was prone to cheating on Aud with overweight bar matrons, as he loved his mead. When she grew tired of his cheating, she did her first vengeance spell. It turned him into a troll. His new visage scared the townsfolk, and inspired D'Hoffryn to visit Aud with a proposition. He informed her that she was Anyanka, and made her a demon. She spent 1100 years cursing men on behalf of wronged women before Cordy's wish, that Buffy had never come to Sunnydale, resulted in her losing her powers. She subsequently fell in love with Xander, tried to be a good human, was stood up at her wedding, became a demon again, and then became human once more. She died in the final battle, inside the high school, protecting Andrew from the Bringers. Emma Caulfield played Anya for five seasons.

Sven, Hans, and Kristoff are characters from the animated film "Frozen", as was Olaf, the correct answer. I decided to theme out my answer choices.
