Grover Cleveland was a proponent of the gold standard and did not support the heavy coining of silver. William Jennings Bryan is well known for prosecuting the Scopes Monkey Trial and his "cross of gold" speeches.

Baby Ruth was born between Cleveland's two terms and was hugely popular with the public. The Baby Ruth candy bar is named after her [not Babe Ruth!] Mrs. Cleveland was 27 years his junior and they had five children. Tragically, Ruth died in 1904 at the age of 12 from diphtheria.
