Rugby Six Nations has begun with Ireland pipping France in the last second of the last minute of extra time. Close doesn't begin to describe it! Well done Ireland.

Top o' the mornin' to ya! :-)

I don't seem to recall ever coming across this blog and I can't walk away from it without contributing. I am not from Ireland, nor have I ever been to Ireland, but I happen to bear the most common surname in all of Ireland, so I'm sure I must have ancestors who came from that area.

I don't mind admitting that I am stubborn as a mule about certain things, and I also rather enjoyed fist fighting in my younger years, mainly because I was quite good at it, Lord knows especially for a white man. Don't imagine I would have enjoyed it so much if I had been lousy at it. However, those days are long behind me now. These days I am just all about peace and love and friendship and having a few laughs and good times with people.

Furthermore, I love U2 and I also love Irish Spring. What a fine, fresh scent it has! :-)

On a final note, I also don't mind one little bit admitting that, as much as I love my country, if I were to ever have that golden ticket fall right in my lap with a one-way trip to the destination of my choice, I suppose that would have to be Ireland. As I say, I love my country, but I am just as fed up as I can be with all of the crime and death and hate from sea to shining sea. I'm afraid to leave my home after dark because of it. How can anyone be expected to be truly happy and satisfied with life in every way when they have to live like that? In the meantime, I'm sure it is so very unlikely that it will ever come to pass, so I just live with it and move on.

Continue rocking by all means, my friends! :-)

Do anything exciting this week?

Things I've done today that I wasn't expecting to do.

1. Emptied a nearly full pot of blackberry jam down my front.

2. Extra load of washing.

This has been a humbling and sticky lesson on why our mums told us not to eat jam straight from the jar.

A trip I would someday love to make. What time of the year has the best weather?

One of my most favorite movies was "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and an Irish lass, Maureen O'Hara, filmed in Ireland.

Greetings again from Ireland.

Here is a photographer with a unique take on the Troubles. He was Japanese and had worked for Life Magazine taking photos of the Vietnam war. Then he visited Ireland and stayed, setting up a family here, and photographing his view of the Troubles.
