Hi, kitchen

You need to *log out* (small print, upper right of the tournament page) of the private tournaments, and 're-sign'. If you are already in private tournaments, it will be easier for you to sign up with the user name, email, and password used for those.

That's right. You need to log out so you can register, but just for the first time you play -- after that there shouldn't be any need to log in / log out if you use the same name, email etc as you are already using. That's what I do anyway.

How to register and play in the VIP tournament:

1. Go to / Click on quiz link http://www.funtrivia.com/private/main.cfm?tid=101321

2. Go to / Click on "Create a Free Trivia Account (instantly!)"

(You may have to log out first. This registration process only needs to be done the first time you visit the tournament. From then on, unless you log out you should find yourself automatically logged in on each visit.)

3. Follow instructions to put in "Your email address" and "Enter a login name".

(You can use the same email address and screen-name as your FT membership.)

4. Enter a password and verify it. Don't forget the password!

(You can use the same password for your main FT membership account.)

N.B. As the tournament administrator, I cannot see any of the above details! All I have access to is the choice of topic for the quizzes.

5. Play quiz and enjoy! :)

So much to do, so little time LOL

In giving my previous answer, I was reminded to go play, and then I was distracted :-p On my way now :-)

I had quite a nice jaunt at the weekend down to Lough Erne. Hired one of those little 'Puffin' motorboats for the afternoon, and amazed myself at my ability to lose any sense of direction on the water despite a map and all sorts of landmarks!

On the return journey from Lusty Beg island across the open lough it got a bit choppy and the boat was bouncing up and down - so we let on we were in the middle of 'The Perfect Storm'! :)

Next time though I want one of those kickass motor launches that roar round the lough - not my little 'putt putt'!

Has anyone else had any good weekend trips recently around the Auld Sod?

Special topic suggestion for next Monday - International Cuisine? Again, it's a fairly good all-round one ...

I will make it so. I don't seem to be able to select it to be exclusively International Cuisine so I am adding in a couple of specific countries. International countries obviously. ;)

Strange...there doesn't appear to be a sub-category devoted to Irish Cuisine.

Dsimpy, that jaunt sounds lovely.

I haven't been to Lough Erne in a few years but at one stage I went there quite a lot, putt-putting around the Devenish Island region and Enniskillen. I think I am happy with the slow pace rather than a big motor, myself, I think that's what's so nice about it all!

But that whole area is just magic.

The only time I've been in a cave has been the nearby(ish) Marble Arch caves. I have nothing to compare them to so they are probably small-potatoes compared to international caves, but I'd definitely recommend them if you're near.

I think anywhere on the Shannon/Erne is probably one of the best spots to pick for a jaunt.

Seeing as we have History as today's quiz topic, here's a link to the National Library of Ireland on flickr where they have uploaded a lot of historical photos. It's a great place to rummage around.

I've been to the Marble Arch caves (years back too), and my guess is they compare pretty well to similar caves elsewhere - they're pretty impressive.

I gave my kids the option of (a) boating and a picnic on Lough Erne, or (b) Marble Arch caves followed by the country fair at Florencecourt house - there wouldn't have been time for all of them in the one day - and they opted on balance for Lough Erne.

We'll do the other options next time! :)

Yes, dsimpy, "Ar fheabhas" that I am enrolled in the tournament :-D (Had to google it, of course)

Chavs, I love old black and white photos. Many of these have humorous captions, as well, giving a further flavour of the Irish people.

(I googled it too.)

Ha, yes, those photos have some irreverent titles and tags, not very official-library-ish, and it makes it harder to search for something specific too. But you're right, that's funny - and typical.

I love old photos too. :)

We could have 'international cuisine' on Friday too?
