DuitDuit73: Those old taxis with everyone and anyone in them, how would the fare work?

Catholic West Belfast consists of four basic 'routes' radiating off the Falls Road: Whiterock, Andersonstown, Glen Road, and Twinbrook/Poleglass/Lagmore. The first three routes are a basic fare for each individual passenger (no matter whether you go the entire length of the route or just part of it). Twinbrook/Poleglass/Lagmore is 'out in the sticks' (relatively speaking), so there's a short and a full-length fare. They don't take you to your door, they just operate along the arterial routes, but you can get them to stop anywhere on the route you want. They're similar to buses, but without set bus stops!

Back in the late 70/s/early 80s it was 10p for the basic fare (20p for the full Twinbrook etc fare). I rarely use black taxis these days (a car driver now) but I think the fares are £1 / £1.70 (cheaper than a standard bus fare), and half price for children and pensioners.

I found the smoking ban great craic. It did lead to an awful amount of 'smirting' outside pubs and clubs :)

That's a disgrace? What's Eurovision coming to? You'd imagine if you parade a couple of Irish guys onstage with ripped abs and no shirts you'd be on a surefire course for victory!! Foreigners huh! ;-)

A couple?! There were at least five. That means they got one point each. And the presenter called Linda Martin a drag queen. It was all very bizarre. :)

Taxi: That's dirt cheap. We only have one bus a week on a Saturday (lots more during summer months) so to go into the nearest town (2 km away) it costs 12 Euro one way. It's robbery.

Eurovision: I thought it was 3 points we got (2 from Cyrpus and 1 from the UK), I clearly missed something, who gave us the other two? Ireland wasn't that bad, felt so sorry for him. A lot of the songs were good this year.

RTE were not happy about that Linda Martin joke. I thought it was funny. They were talking about Johnny Logan winning it three times and when they showed the third time on screen was Linda Martin so then they said Johnny Logan in drag.

Yeah, it was funny. :D

I was sort of proud that Johnny Logan got the mention. How sad am I?!

We're still devastated, that's all.

Any requests for special subjects in the VIP Quiz by the way?

I stuck Mythology in for last Monday so we need a new one for next Monday, but any of the days can be spesh topics, just need to know what people might like. :)

How about Cities of the World ... seems like something most people could have a fair crack at?

Mythology was tough. I like Cities of the World too.

Cities it is! It'll be mainly cities of the world with a few other cities questions thrown into the mix just to keep us on our toes. That ok?

Any more requests? We have many Mondays.
