Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Australian tennis star who won a Wimbledon singles title in 1987

Answer: Cash

Pat Cash was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1965. His professional career started in 1982, and he achieved his only grand slam tournament win in 1987 when he beat Czech player Ivan Lendl by three sets to none in the final of the Men's Singles at Wimbledon.

He was also a four-time grand slam runner-up. In 1984 he paired up with fellow Australian Paul McNamee in the Men's Doubles competition at Wimbledon; the duo made it all the way to the final before losing out to the defending champions, American's Peter Fleming and John McEnroe. The following year in 1985, Cash once again entered the same competition, this time teaming up with Australian compatriot John Fitzgerald. Unfortunately, he was to be on the losing side again as the two Australians were beaten in the final by the team of Swiss Heinz Gunthardt and Hungarian Balazs Taroczy.

He was also a two-time runner-up in the Men's Singles tournament at the Australian Open, losing out to Swedish stars Stefan Edberg and Mats Wilander in 1987 and 1988 respectively.
2. American country music artist who released the songs "I Walk the Line" and "Ring of Fire"

Answer: Cash

Johnny Cash was born in 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas. In 1935 his family moved to the agricultural colony of Dyess, Arkansas, where they grew cotton on the land that they were allocated. The colony itself was established as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal policy to help farming families affected by the Great Depression.

In 1950, Cash enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and upon completion of his training was assigned to the 12th Radio Squadron in Landsberg, West Germany. He served four years before he was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned stateside.

In 1955, Cash secured his first recording contract with Sun Records, and had his first No.1 hit the following year when "I Walk the Line" reached the top spot on the US Hot Country Songs chart. He had four further No.1 songs before "Ring of Fire" became his sixth chart topper in 1963.

Cash was given the nickname the "Man in Black" because of his trademark all-black stage wardrobe and he continued to record music and perform concerts right up to his death in 2003. He died in Nashville, Tennessee aged 71. In 2005, Cash's life and career were dramatized in the biographical film "Walk the Line". The movie was directed by James Mangold and starred Joaquin Phoenix as Cash.
