David Clark was born on December 15, 1939, in England. In 1950, he taught himself how to play the drums and formed a skiffle band, a type of folk band in which instruments usually are homemade or improvised, to raise money for his football team to go to The Netherlands.

The band eventually became The Dave Clark Five. In 1970, they broke up, and, in 1972, Clark quit drumming after he broke four knuckles while tobogganing.

Bowie was also an actor and stared in the 1976 film "The Man Who Fell to Earth" which was a science fiction movie. Bowie played Thomas Jerome Newton who was an alien that fell to earth. In 1986, he played Jareth in "The Labyrinth." He claimed he had to sing "Magic Dance" and do the gurgles for the baby in the film because "the baby couldn't string two gurgles together."

In 1977, Bowie appeared on Bing Crosby's final Christmas special, "Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas." He and Crosby did "Peace on Earth/LIttle Drummer Boy." Crosby mainly sang "The Little Drummer Boy" while Bowie sang "Peace on Earth." The song has since become a Christmas favorite in the US and UK. In 1981, he worked with Queen to produce the single "Under Pressure." This song was also a big hit. In 1992, Bowie married his second wife, model Iman, to whom he was married until his death on January 10, 2016, from liver cancer.

David Michael Letterman was born on April 12, 1947, in the United States. Letterman attended Ball State University in Indiana, his home state. As an average student, he noticed scholarships tend to go to the brilliant kids and later created one for "C Student" kids. After he graduated from Ball State, Letterman became a weatherman for a TV station in Indiana. During this time, he "congratulated a tropical storm for being upgraded to a hurricane." He had other antics, such as this while he was a weatherman.

In 1975, he moved to LA, California, hoping to be a comedy writer. Once there, he also began doing stand-up at The Comedy Store. In 1978, he guest starred on a season one episode of "Mork and Mindy" entitled "Mork Goes Erk." He also became friends with Johnny Carson and was a regular guest host for him. By 1980, he has his own show in the morning on NBC called "The David Letterman Show," which won two Daytime Emmy Awards. However, it was cancelled a couple of months later.

In 1981, "Late Night with David Letterman" debuted on NBC. Letterman interviewed guests, and had other segments such as "Stupid Pet Tricks" and the "Top Ten Lists." It was also not uncommon for non-guests to appear, such as Regis Philbin and Tony Randall. In 1992, Letterman moved to CBS, and the show was changed to "Late Show with David Letterman." On CBS the show was filmed in the Ed Sullivan Theater, the same place where Ed Sullivan had his show. Letterman left the "Late Show" in 2015 after hosting 6,080 shows between the NBC and CBS talk show.

The "Top Ten List" featured a common theme such as "The Top Ten Words That Almost Rhyme With Peas," which was his first "Top Ten" list. Sometimes, such as the episode with Tom Cruise shortly before Letterman retired from his talk show, guests would bring their own list and read it. Tom Cruise's list was, "The Craziest Things People Say Abut Tom Cruise on the Internet."
