Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Raised Eutychus from the dead

Answer: Paul

Paul raised Eutychus from the dead at Troas after the young man fell asleep in a third storey window and tumbled to his death. According to Scripture, Eutychus had been listening to a lengthy sermon by Paul when he went into a slumber. Acts 20:9-12 tell of Paul rushing downstairs and miraculously bringing Eutychus back to life.

After this miracle, Paul went back to the third-storey meeting room, had a bite to eat and preached on to the early morning hours.

Troas was a community on the Aegean coast in present day Turkey.
2. Raised Dorcas from the dead

Answer: Peter

Dorcas, also known as Tabitha, was miraculously raised from the dead by Peter, one of the original twelve disciples. According to Acts 9:36-43, Dorcas was well known in Joppa as she was "full of good works and charitable deeds".

After Dorcas died, Peter was called upon to visit her house to see what could be done. Scripture tells of Peter kneeling and praying over her dead body and then telling her to "arise". Miraculously, she did just that.
3. Raised Lazarus from the dead

Answer: Jesus

Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus, this even though he man had been dead for four days. The majority of the 11th chapter of John is devoted to the miracle.

According to Scripture, Lazarus lived in Bethany with his two sisters, Martha and Mary.

It's in Chapter 11 that Jesus makes the famous declaration: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."
4. Raised Jairus' daughter from the dead

Answer: Jesus

The account of Jesus miraculously raising Jairus' daughter from the dead can be found in three Gospels -- Matthew 9:18-26, Mark 5:21-43 and Luke 8:40-56.

According to the passages, Jairus' was a synagogue ruler and his unnamed 12-year-old daughter was in bed seriously ill. Upon hearing Jesus was in the area, Jairus went out to meet Jesus to invite Him to come to his house to heal his daughter.

However, when Jesus arrived at Jairus' house it was announced the girl had died and people were outside crying. A few minutes later, the mourners were filled with amazement when Jesus miraculously brought the girl back to life.
5. Raised the widow's son from the dead

Answer: Jesus

The account of Jesus raising the widow's son from the dead is told in Luke 7:11-17. According to Scripture, Jesus was entering the town of Nain when He saw a funeral procession for the only son of a widow.

A few moments later, the young man would be restored to life by Jesus and the widow who had been crying would be ecstatic.

Verses 13 to 15 in the NKJV explains things this way: "When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, 'Do not weep.' Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, 'Young man, I say to you, arise.' So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother."

Interestingly, this is the only time Nain is mentioned in the Old and New Testaments.
6. Made Publius' father well

Answer: Paul

After being shipwrecked off the coast of Malta, Paul miraculously healed Publius' father, who was in bed "sick of a fever and dysentery".

According to Scripture, Publius was a "leading citizen" of Malta.

Acts 28:8 tells of Paul praying for Publius' unnamed father, laying his hands on him and healing him.

Verse 9 goes on to state: "So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed."
7. Made a paralyzed man at the gate to the temple Beautiful able bodied

Answer: Peter

Peter, who was accompanied by John, miraculously made a paralyzed man able bodied, according to Acts 3:1-10.

The passage tells of the two disciples encountering a paralyzed man begging for money "at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful." Peter responded to be beggar by saying: "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

Amazingly, he did just that.

Scripture tells of the man accompanying Peter and John into the temple "walking, leaping, and praising God."
8. Fed a multitude with a pittance of food

Answer: Jesus

On two different occasions, Jesus fed a multitude with a pittance of food.

Details of the first miracle can be found in Matthew 14, Mark 6, Luke 9 and John 6. Details of the second miracle can be found in Matthew 15 and Mark 8.

In the first miraculous event, Jesus fed 5,000 men with five loaves and two fish. In the second miraculous event, He fed 4,000 men with seven loaves and a "few small fish".

Scripture says Jesus fed 5,000 men on the first occasion and 4,000 men on the second. However, many scholars believe He fed a much larger number as the figures do not include women and children. As per the custom of the day, woman and children were not included in census figures.

In other words, it is believed Jesus fed 15,000 people on the first occasion and 12,000 on the second occasion.
9. Cleansed ten lepers at once

Answer: Jesus

According to Luke 17:11-19, Jesus cleansed ten lepers at once of the dread disease which was incurable in Biblical times.

Scripture tells of the ten lepers being sent by Jesus to show themselves to the priests and as they travelled along they were cleansed.

However, only one leper -- a Samaritan -- returned to thank Jesus.
10. Gave sight to Bartimaeus

Answer: Jesus

Bartimaeus was a blind beggar who was miraculously able to see after he had an encounter with Jesus alongside a road leading into Jericho. The miracle is recorded in Mark 10:46-52.

According to the passage, Bartimaeus referred to Jesus as the Son of David, an Old Testament title for the Messiah. Verse 52 in the NKJV tells what happened next: "Then Jesus said to him, 'Go your way; your faith has made you well.' And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road."
