Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What item does Kamala receive from her grandmother, deciding to wear with her Captain Marvel costume?

Answer: Bangle

Teenage girl Kamala Khan posts a new video to her YouTube account, Sloth Baby Productions, this one about the impact and subsequent disappearance of Carol Danvers, better known as Captain Marvel. As her video uploads, her mother calls her down for her driver's test-- something she very quickly fails when she backs into her instructor's vehicle. It's a typical day for her.

Kamala and her friend, Bruno, covertly prepare for AvengerCon in the meantime, putting the finishing touches on their cosplays but not being all too sure of how to make them personal. Kamala wants to be her own version of Captain Marvel, but something's missing.

That afternoon she receives a package from her grandmother-- a box of what she believes might be junk. Amongst the items in the box is an old bangle. Her mother insists it's all just trash and has it placed up in the attic.

Kamala, meanwhile, asks if she can attend AvengerCon and she's refused the opportunity. It's why she sneaks out with Bruno, taking her costume and grabbing her grandmother's bangle on the way out.
2. AvengerCon is held at which of these key sites?

Answer: Camp Lehigh

Kamala devises her plan of escaping her house, using Bruno's cool tech, and boarding the bus to Camp Lehigh for AvengerCon, but before she does, she searches the attic for something Pakistani to add to her cosplay. The bangle turns out to be the right piece.

When the day of AvengerCon finally comes around, the plan almost goes perfectly...except for all the problems Kamala encounters. She and Bruno miss the first bus, but they catch the second, losing Kamala's bike in the process. They do, however, manage to make it to Camp Lehigh and join the crowds for a good time.

Before long, the cosplay event is ready to begin and Kamala heads to the restroom to change into her outfit. As she dons her accessories she heads out to the stage, managing to open her grandmother's bangle and wrap it around her wrist. What happens next, however, is unexpected.

An unseeable energy wraps itself around Kamala as the contest begins, and as an energy rushes over her, she shoots a series of photon blasts over the crowd, accidentally destroying a giant Ant-Man helmet and causing the building's propping to come down. She's barely able to prevent one of her classmates from getting hurt, using her newfound ability to protect her from an injurious fall.
3. Which of these is true about Kamran?

Answer: He's new to Kamala's school.

Bruno is able to get Kamala home on his bike and though neither of them know why she, all of a sudden, has powers, they spend the ride wondering. He promises not to tell anyone. As Kamala climbs into her window two hours late, she finds her mother waiting up to have a talk with her. She's told that she has to make a choice: she can be good, like she was raised to be, or she can keep her head in the clouds.

That night, the DODC sends agents Cleary and Deaver to Jersey City to investigate what might have happened at AvengerCon. It's not hard for them to find info, especially since Zoe, one of Kamala's classmates, has been bragging about meeting the superhero at the event.

Bruno assists Kamala in learning how to harness her new superpowers but there's not much of a basis for understanding, especially when Bruno deduces they might have been inside her the whole time. Though she put the bangle on, it might have simply activated something within her all along.

Later, when Kamala and Bruno are invited to a party at Zoe's place, the events that occur after start a bit of a rift between the pair, especially when Kamala starts to develop a crush on the new kid in school, Kamran. Kamran drives them home so that they can escape the cops as they come in to break up the event and he leaves his number for Kamala. They're clearly a good match, much to Bruno's dismay.
4. What name is given to Kamala's superhero alter ego by the unaware public?

Answer: Nightlight

As Kamala's power continues to manifest in ways that she can't anticipate. It's during a driving lesson with Kamran that she blows off Bruno, pushing aside her power training for the time with the new guy. She invites Bruno to Eid instead, getting closer to Kamran over coffee and getting to know more about his relationship with his mother.

At dinner, Kamala's bangle begins to glow during a family discussion about the Partition of India, and when it does she has a vision of a figure emerging from a glowing tear in the fabric of reality. She awakens with her family by her side and, that night, she calls her grandmother asking after information about the bangle-- one that belonged to her great-grandmother, Aisha, who disappeared during the Partition. No one can seem to give Kamala a solid answer about Aisha. Her mother tells her not to pursue it any further.

Zoe Zimmer is brought into an interrogation by Agents Cleary and Deever and they try to eke information out of her regarding the 'enhanced individual' who appeared at AvengerCon. They manage to determine that the individual is South Asian, and with that they do a sweep of the tri-state area.

That night, at the Eid festival, Kamala and Bruno aid Nakia in spreading the word of Nakia's running for board of the mosque. When a young kid, taking selfies out the window of the mosque tower, tumbles out of the building, Kamala covertly dons her costume and uses her abilities to prevent him from plummeting. The crowd, phones in hand, tweet nothing but praise for 'Nightlight', but it's then that she has another vision, of the woman reaching for her from beyond the veil. The boy drops, but she's able to get him down to the ground with minimal injury.

Nonetheless, Kamala flees, worried that she harmed who she was trying to save, and it's then that she's intercepted by DODC drones which come in trying to apprehend her. Kamran, driving by, manages to get her into his car and drive off. As they drive off, Kamala looks into the back seat and finds the woman from her visions waiting for her. Kamran introduces her as his mother.
5. The Clandestines, as Kamala comes to understand, come from what dimension?

Answer: Noor Dimension

In 1942 in British Occupied India, artifacts are dug up and a bangle is located in a pile of rubble, still attached to a severed arm. Aisha takes the bangle as British forces attempt to cave in the ruins, donning it and racing away from her companions, Najma amongst them, in an attempt to prevent the bangle from falling into the wrong hands. It was the last time Najma saw her.

In the present day she explains to Kamala, with her son Kamran and others by her side, that they, along with Aisha, come from another dimension. They were exiled and the bangle was their way home. In private, Najma explains that the bangle allowed her to sense the presence of Noor. In the Noor Dimension, they were known as the Clandestines, but on Earth, they would be better-known as the Djinn.

Though Bruno later suggests that interdimensional travel might be dangerous, Najma is eager for Kamala to help them navigate back to the Noor. It leads to a scuffle at Kamala's brother's wedding where the Clandestines try to overpower her and, regardless of the danger, use the bangle.

Kamala manages to set off the fire alarm to get her family out of the reception venue but the Clandestines fight her into the kitchen. Kamala holds all of them at bay, but only until Najma grabs the bangle, triggering a vision for both of them. A train emerges from a rift of light, bearing down on them before the DODC arrive.
6. Kamala and her mother, on Sana's request, travel to what city?

Answer: Karachi

As the DODC closes in on Kamala's position at her brother's wedding, they miss out on apprehending her and Bruno, but they do take the Clandestines into custody, believing them to be the enhanced individuals they're looking for. When she returns home, Kamala has to admit to pulling the alarm but she can't tell them what's really going on. As she heads to bed she receives a phone call from her grandmother; she had the same vision of the train. She and her mother have no choice. They have to head to Karachi.

Arriving at her grandmother's home, Kamala settles in and reconnects with her family history. Bringing forth the bangle she asks Sana what she can, and what she receives in response is nothing short of casual. Kamala is part Djinn, but her genetics shouldn't much matter. The bangle saved her grandmother's life during the Partition and it is important to her. The train from their vision is the train that Sana took to escape the Partition. They'll have to figure it out.

Khan ends up visiting Karachi's central train station when she has a moment alone and when she sneaks into an under construction stretch of the building, she finds herself face-to-face with a dagger-wielding individual who's been following her all day. He senses the Noor in her, and with Aisha's bangle around her wrist, he makes his move. The pair soon come to an agreement, escaping the clutches of security, and depart to talk.

The attacker brings her to a hidden room in a cafe and introduces himself as Kareem, a member of the Red Daggers. Waleed, their leader, sits her down to talk about the Clandestines. There are many realms around Earth that can not be seen, and the Noor Dimension is one of them. The Veil of Noor protects the paths between the worlds, but the bangle can break through that veil. The Clandestines simply wish to use it to spill their world onto Earth until there's nothing left of it.
7. Whose strike sends Kamala back in time to the Partition?

Answer: Najma

Though Kamala is in Karachi, the Clandestines are, at the same time, breaking out of the DODC Supermax Prison. Najma leaves Kamran behind. After all, he made his choice in helping Kamala.

Kamala is busy though. Between reconnecting with her grandmother in understanding her place in the world and reconvening with the Red Daggers. Waleed trains her in harnessing her abilities and suggests that her genetics, which tie her to the human world and Earth, allow her to use the powers of the bangle in a unique way. He bestows upon her a vest, an indication of where she came from, but their moment is interrupted by the intrusion of the Clandestines. Kareem and Waleed manage to get her out of the hideout and race out into the streets in the back of a cycle rickshaw. Waleed separates the bike from the carriage to let the others get way, diverting the Clandestines but at the cost of his life. Najma stabs him in the back as he holds off one of the others.

Kamala and Waleed find their way into a dyeing facility and a dead end, and with that they have no choice but to fight Najma. They succeed for a while, but the melee comes to an end when Najma's blade strikes Kamala's bangle, sending her careening through dimensions...and time...to the train tracks of India. As she climbs to get a better view, she sees that she has emerged into the Partition.
8. Sana, lost in the train station as a little girl, was guided back to her father by what she believed were which of these?

Answer: Stars

As the Partition raged in British Occupied India in 1942, Aisha ran, bangle in her possession, away from the troops chasing her from the temple site. She was found sleeping near an Indian village by one of its citizens, Hasan, who invited her to stay, and shortly after, their love began to blossom. They spent five years living together in his home and, there, she gave birth to Sana.

It's when tensions rose between Hasan and other locals that Najma located Aisha's whereabouts. Aisha lied, saying that she hid the bangle and would need time to retrieve it, and Najma gave her a day to relinquish it so that the Clandestines could open the veil. She used that time, instead, to pack her family's belongings. Placing the bangle on Sana's wrist, they departed with the processions leaving for the trains to Pakistan. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to fool Najma who, following behind, killed Aisha before she could make it onto the train. With her dying words, Aisha invoked the power of the bangle, inadvertently pulling Kamala, her great-granddaughter, into the past.

Hasan and Sana, attempting to board the train, get separated in the chaos of the station. Kamala, navigating the crowd nearby, finds Aisha dying and is begged to help Sana get onto the train. Kamala manages to find the young Sana on the platform and, using her powers, guides her to her father with what looks like stars. It's a story her grandmother will tell her in the distant future.

Sana and Hasan board the train and depart for Pakistan while Kamala is shunted back into the present and into the ghat where Najma and the others fought with her.
9. Are the Clandestines able to cross through the Veil and return home?

Answer: No

When Kamala and the others awaken from the blast left by the bangle, they discover that the Veil has opened between Earth and the Noor Dimension. As one of the Clandestines steps forward to pass through it, however, it turns them to dust. Realizing that the Noor Dimension will kill everyone, Kamala makes moves to block it off, but Najma steps forward, sacrificing herself and her power to seal the rift. Her power rushes away, placing itself into Kamran, and the Veil closes off moments before Kamala's mother and grandmother arrive, having located Kamala using her family phone plan's location service. And the catch is that they saw her use her powers. Realizing her potential, they both accept the magical abilities with all three accepting that despite their choices, all of them need to take their own journeys. Kamala says her goodbye to Kareem before leaving and he hands her a red bandana, a symbol of his group, and with that, she heads home.

Things are complicated back in Jersey City though. Kamran seeks help from Bruno at his home, knowing that there's nowhere else for him to go. Unfortunately, the two of them are beset upon by the DODC's drones, one of which destroys the shop below Bruno's apartment. They manage to escape, but the DODC, led by Agent Deever, close down Jersey City, citing quarantine. All the while, Kamran's powers are starting to manifest, not unlike Kamala's.

Kamala returns to Jersey City shortly before the quarantine, apologizing for her recent behaviours to her family before, just a bit too late, informing them of her powers. Fortunately, all of them are supportive of her decision to help people. The family moment, however, is interrupted when Nakia calls to inform Kamala of the situation at hand. Bruno's missing and his place has exploded. Before she leaves to get to the bottom of it, her mother gives her a gift-- a new outfit befitting a true hero.
10. Bruno runs tests on Kamala's blood and determines which of these?

Answer: That she has a genetic mutation

As the DODC closes in on Bruno and Kamran at the Jersey City Mosque, Agent Deever finds that the community isn't all too eager to give up the kids. They search the building nevertheless, coming up with nothing.

Kamala finds the two hiding in an alley, and just in time as Kamran exhibits a burst of Noor power that he can't keep held in. Kamala calls Kareem, on the other side of the world, for help from the Red Daggers. Fortunately, he's able to pull through, even if from a distance. All she needs to do is get Kamran to the harbour by midnight. It takes everyone-- Nakia, Kamala's family, even Zoe Zimmer from school-- to get him there.

But before they do, Kamala and the others hide out in their high school, creating a distraction by having Zoe put out a viral video, asking everyone to come to the building. The DODC, despite orders not to infiltrate, proceeds to break in and ends up facing not only Bruno's clever traps, but the brunt of Zoe's followers as well. Khan and Kamran end up being the only two of the group not nabbed by the DODC and they make their way to try to escape out the bathroom, but the escape is marred by the truth. Kamran asks about what really happened to his mother in Pakistan, and when he finds out the truth of Najma's death, he lashes out. Heading out to the parking lot, he nearly attacks Agent Deever, getting shot at by the special forces, but Kamala blocks the bullets. It takes Kamala, weathering his unrestrained powers, to break through and keep him at bay. She tells him that Najma died so that he could survive, and with that she buys him time to get him to the harbour. Safely, he makes his way to Pakistan and Kareem's care.

Agent Deever is relieved of duties while she's onsite at the high school as she's disobeyed direct orders. The DODC gets to work cleaning her mess.

Kamala becomes a full-fledged, fully-recognized hero, and after a chat with her father, she takes on the name Ms. Marvel. Kamala, as she discovers, has always meant 'Marvel'. A week later, Kamala visits Bruno before he heads to study at Caltech. He explains that he looked at Kamala's genetic makeup and found something odd. She's never been like the rest of her family; it appears she has a mutation.
