Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Atop Whistler Mountain, how many of the ten competing teams received Express Passes?

Answer: Ten

This season of the race started in the snow with ten teams uniting at the starting line atop Whistler Mountain in British Columbia where Jon Montgomery informed all racers of the caveats of this season. Firstly, the Desjardins Assist would be returning at select challenges. Secondly, all ten teams would be getting an Express Pass, but only one team would be able to utilize the Express Pass on any given task until the end of Leg 5. They could find this bundled with their first clue.

And on that note, racers were given the go and told to search the nearby snowfield atop the mountain for a metal box containing their first clue. Canada would be waiting for them.
2. The 'Sparkle' Detour task in Whistler Village had teams outfitting how many letters in the WHISTLER sign with twinkle lights?

Answer: Six

As soon as racers dug up and opened their first clue envelopes they found the race's first Detour task, a choice between 'Sparkle' and 'Shine', both of which sent them down Whistler Mountain on a gondola, dropping them off in Whistler Village.

In 'Sparkle', racers had to find the Whistler sign in front of Carleton Lodge. There, after untangling a knotted pile of twinkle lights, they needed to string them up on one of the available letters in the sign (all but the letter I) to receive their next clue.

In 'Shine', racers had to find the Longhorn Saloon and learn an aprés-ski dance with a group of performers, showing off their choreography for the waiting patrons.

Maestro and Duane, who left the digging task last, used their Express Pass to skip the 'Shine' Detour, pulling away from last place as a result and forcing two other teams to follow through with the dance in their wake.
3. At Whistler Sailing Club, racers needed to collect items themed around which live-action Disney movie release?

Answer: Moana

Teams had to flag down taxis after their Detour and direct them to 5678 Alta Lake Road and the Whistler Sailing Club. There, on the waterfront, racers received a video message from Catherine Laga'aia, who played Moana in the 2026 live-action Disney film of the same name. Here, teams were instructed to hop into a sailboat, and head around Lake Alta collecting a buoy, a shell, and a coconut from markers out on the water. If they traded these in they could get their next clue and keep racing.

Michele and Matteo used their Express Pass to skip this task and stay ahead of both Maestro and Duane and Chayla and Chyana.
4. Atop Squamish Canyon, racers had to perform which of the following tasks for their Road Block?

Answer: Cross a tightrope

Racers hopped back into their cabs to head onward, this time with a Road Block clue in-hand. For this one, one team member from each duo would need to 'walk the line', and to do that, they would need to take a ride to Squamish, B.C. Here, atop the Mamquam River cutting through Squamish Canyon, the selected racers would have to cross a hundred-foot slackline above raging river rapids to complete the task.

Tina, Clara, Sébastien, Eamon, Dina, Nova, Ameen, Michele, and Duane completed this task while Chayla and Chyana used their Express Pass to get ahead (though Chayla was selected for the challenge).
5. Which team was last to arrive at the Pit Stop in Squamish at the end of Leg 1?

Answer: Maestro and Duane

Once teams braved the heights above Squamish Canyon, teams had to open their final clue for the leg and take their cabs to the Squamish Campus of Capilano University. There, on the university's soccer field, they could find Jon and their first Pit Stop mat of the race.

Tina and Liz, who managed to hold a lead out of the Detour back in Whistler Village, coasted into a first place win for this first leg, winning themselves an Expedia trip to Rio de Janeiro with $10,000 CAD in spending money. On top of that, as a FIFA 2026 promotion, Bell also rewarded the pair with new devices, soccer jerseys, and $10,000 CAD cash.

At the back of the pack, Maestro and Duane were last to hit the mat, a consequence of using their Express Pass too early and failing to maintain that momentum. Though they forced two other teams to use their Express Passes, they hit the mat in tenth place. Fortunately, they were spared from going home at a predetermined non-elimination mat.
6. The Speed Bump encountered by one team at the Big White Ski Resort (in Kelowna, B.C.) had them collecting which of these to be sorted?

Answer: Inner tubes

All ten teams headed out from Squamish, B.C. bound for the airport in nearby Vancouver with the aim to continue deeper into the province, grabbing seats on one of two flights, arriving fifteen minutes apart, headed for Kelowna. Once there, teams had to proceed (self-driving) to the Kootenay Mountains, one hundred kilometres away, to locate a clue box waiting for them outside the lower gondola station at Big White Ski Resort.

Before taking a ride up the mountain, Maestro and Duane had to overcome an expected Speed Bump Task, a consequence of placing last in the previous leg. For this, they had to help the workers at the ski resort by stacking numerous snow tubes, all tossed out into the snow, before they could keep racing.
7. Teams faced two Road Blocks in Leg 2, and the first of them had team members needing to 'sit tight'. Where did they need to sit to complete the task?

Answer: On skis

Arriving at Big White Ski Resort, teams started the day with a Road Block task which made use of the what the slopes had to offer. For this task, racers had to strap into a sit-ski, learning to navigate their way through a flat slalom course while strapped into the adaptive device. Once they figured out how to maneuver around, the participating racers had to push themselves through the training area to collect five flags, suspended from wires above them, and cross the finish line in two minutes.

Filipe, Sacha, Liz, Bec, Chyana, Michele, Surria, Keshia, Dana, and Maestro were selected for this task though Ameen and Surria used their Express Pass to bypass it.
8. Visiting an animal sanctuary in Leg 2, racers had to pick up poop. Which of these unexpected animals was featured at the farm here?

Answer: Kangaroo

Leaving the mountains, teams had to drive themselves sixty kilometres through the Kelowna area to find Kangaroo Creek Farm, a sanctuary for rescued kangaroos and wallabies, and here, opening their next clues, they discovered that they needed to collect poop. Each team was provided a bucket that they needed to fill, totally, to get their challenge done. Filipe and Clara, who managed to get there first, ended up receiving this leg's Desjardins Assist, and only had to fill half-a-bucket.

After this, racers drove out to Knox Mountain Park whereupon they were met by two Okanagan elders overlooking the city of Kelowna. After learning the thirteen moon cycles, provided to them in the Nsyilxcen language, they had to solve a puzzle correctly to keep on racing. Due to the complexity of this task, Eamon and Bec used their Express Pass to skip over it while Dana and Cordelia took a time penalty.
9. One team was penalized for not completing the irrigation Road Block in Leg 2.

Answer: False

Racers who left Knox Mountain dove directly into a second Road Block task in Kelowna. After driving themselves into West Kelowna to find Paynter's Fruit Market, team members had to prepare themselves for 'a water break'. Here, the participants who didn't complete the first Road Block of the leg were tasked with constructing an irrigation system for the local orchard, assembling a sprinkler system by-hand with a provided diagram. When the water turned on, Eamon, Tina, Sébastian, Ameen, Matteo, Cordelia, Clara, Chayla, Nova, and Duane could get their next clue.

Dana and Cordelia used their Express Pass to avoid completing this challenge and regain time brought on by their earlier penalty, leaving only four Express Passes still in the game.
10. Which team was the first to be eliminated from the race, willingly hitting the mat last in Kelowna in Leg 2?

Answer: Maestro and Duane

Leaving the second Road Block, racers had to drive themselves to the race's second Pit Stop at the KF Centre for Excellence, an aviation museum and aircraft facility near Lake Okanagan. Maintaining their momentum out of using their Express Pass at Knox Mountain, Eamon and Bec landed on the mat with a sizeable lead in first place to receive an Expedia trip for two to Edinburgh, Scotland (with an additional $10,000 reward).

Though Dana and Cordelia incurred a two hour penalty by skipping out on the moon cycle task, two teams were unable to check in within that time. At the final task, Duane assisted Nova in solving the Road Block and allowed the girls to check in ahead of them at the mat. It meant that Maestro and Duane were, willingly, the first team eliminated from this season of the race.
