Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Toronto in Leg 5, racers encountered the U-Turn Vote board. Which team did not receive a vote against them?

Answer: Sacha and Sébastien

Leg 5 commenced with eight teams still in the competition heading towards the halfway mark of their race across Canada, and to begin this one, they had to take a plane, a train, and an automobile over to Ontario and through the southeastern region of the province to Peterborough, Ontario. What this meant was flying from Montreal to Toronto to locate Union Station.

At Union, racers encountered the U-Turn Vote board and each team had to vote for one of their fellow teams. The two teams with the most votes would be forced to complete both sides of the upcoming Detour. While Keshia and Nova received five votes, both Eamon and Bec and Tina and Liz received two apiece, leading all three to be saddled with the extra work. Interestingly, instead of an added task, Keshia and Nova's Speed Bump involved receiving an extra vote to their name at this juncture. It didn't make a difference.
2. In Peterborough, racers had to complete three cottage games. Which was not amongst them?

Answer: Horseshoes

Leaving Toronto's Union Station, teams took the train along the Lakeshore East line to Oshawa, located waiting vehicles, and drove themselves into Peterborough, locating their next clue box at City Hall. Here, when the day began, they needed to complete a trio of cottage-country-themed activities at Roger's Cove. Completing ladder toss, cornhole, and frisnok one at a time (and without missing subsequent tasks), they could get their next clue from the competitors there and continue to the Canadian Canoe Museum to find out who got U-Turned.

Sacha and Sébastien, the last team with an Express Pass still in-hand, used it on this task to start the day ahead, effectively wiping these bonus items out of the race.
3. Even with the U-Turn considered, all teams chose to complete which side of the Detour in Peterborough (in Leg 5)?

Answer: 'Inside'

The Canadian Canoe Museum held not only the U-Turn Vote results, but the leg's Detour task, and this one sent teams to complete either 'Inside' or 'Outside'.

In 'Inside', racers had to head into the museum proper, searching hundreds of canoes for two indicated in a provided pair of descriptions. If they could find the matches, they'd get their next clue. 'Outside' had teams taking to the water instead, paddling canoes backwards through a marked precision course on Little Lake. If they could complete the trial in under seven minutes, they'd get the next clue.

Eamon and Bec, Tina and Liz, and Keshia and Nova had to do both tasks. In spite of this, all teams chose 'Inside.
4. In Bobcaygeon, racers needed to deliver food on behalf of which famous local company?

Answer: Kawartha Dairy

Leaving the Canadian Canoe Museum, teams had to drive to the Ontario Turtle Conservation Center and, there, they had to give a spa treatment to one of the facility's snapping turtles. If they could clean out its habitat, they'd get their next clue and drive out to the cottage country town of Bobcaygeon.

Locating the Kawartha Dairy Company, racers had to make deliveries through town via cycle rickshaw. Collecting unique orders of ice cream and butter tarts they needed to proceed to three of ten locations found around Bobcaygeon, return to the starting point, and get their next clue. Because Michele and Matteo found the Assist on this task, they only had to complete a single delivery instead of three.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race along the Trent-Severn Waterway in Leg 5?

Answer: Keshia and Nova

After completing their deliveries in Bobcaygeon, racers had one last clue to open before driving themselves to the fifth Pit Stop in Buckhorn, Ontario. Here, along the Trent-Severn Waterway, racers had to locate Jon and the mat waiting at Lock 31-- one of the busiest locks on the route between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay. Here, Sacha and Sébastian maintained their lead to win their second leg of the race, this time taking a trip for two (from Expedia) to the Patagonia region of Chile (along with $10,000 CAD of spending money).

Although Chayla and Chyana got lost en route to Bobcaygeon, Keshia and Nova fell too far behind after the U-Turn to overcome the extra task and survive the leg. They would be eliminated checking in once again in eighth place.
6. The 'Sync' Detour task, completed by teams in Scarborough in Leg 6, had racers completing which of these in sync?

Answer: Diving

At the start of the sixth leg, teams were sent directly to one of two waiting charter buses and instructed to take the ride back to Union Station in Toronto. From there, they would be able to search the GO Transit concourse for an unexpected early Detour that would have them racing into the East Toronto neighbourhood of Scarborough.

Racers who chose the 'Sync' Detour option needed to make their way to the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre where, after changing into diving gear, they needed to perform a pairs dive in perfect sync to collect their next clue from a coach.

Sacha and Sébastien, Bec and Eamon, Felipe and Clara, and Michele and Matteo got to the spots for this challenge.
7. Which team did NOT complete the 'Sum' Detour task in Leg 6?

Answer: Michele and Matteo

Racers who didn't want to work at the precision task on the diving board for their Leg 6 Detour could instead embark on the 'Sum' task, and this one sent them to Scarborough's Casa Deluz Banquet Hall. Here, they would need to memorize and serve ten dishes of dim sum at a busy luncheon for Cantonese diners. If teams could learn the dishes and deliver them to perfection, the waiter would hand over their next clue.

Ameen and Surria, Tina and Liz, and Chayla and Chyana, all of whom were in the second bus, elected to complete this task.
8. The Leg 6 Face Off, which teams encountered in Markham, Ontario, involved which of these competitive activities?

Answer: Table tennis

As soon as teams managed their Detours, the precision test didn't end as they needed to make their way to this season's first Face Off challenge. For this one, the game of choice was table tennis, and teams headed to the Canadian Community Table Tennis Association (CCTTA) in the Northern Toronto city of Markham.

Here, racers would battle head-to-head in an attempt to get eleven points before the opposing team. Winners would keep on racing and get their next clue; losing teams would face the subsequent team. Chayla and Chyana, who did not finish the task in spite of arriving first, had to wait out an hourglass before they could keep racing.
9. The Road Block teams encountered in Unionville, Ontario (in Leg 6) had them acting in which of these?

Answer: A Christmas romcom

The clue teams received leaving their Face Off was the Road Block for Leg 6, and with the vague hint of "who wants a 'latte' love?, the selected teammates had to embark on a task they really couldn't have prepared for. Proceeding to the gazebo on Unionville, Ontario's Main Street, participants needed to learn the lines for a Christmas romcom being filmed there and participate in front of the camera. If they could get all the lines down and perform it in a full take, the director would hand over their next clue.

Tina, Surria, Sébastien, Eamon, Matteo, Clara, and Chayla completed this task.
10. Which was the last team to hit the Pit Stop mat at the end of Leg 6 (in Scarborough, Ontario)?

Answer: Felipe and Clara

At the end of Leg 6, all teams needed to do was brave Toronto traffic, pass back through Scarborough, and arrive on the mat on the grounds of the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant on the edge of Lake Ontario. Here, Tina and Liz took their second win of the race (and their first since the very first leg, back in British Columbia) and claimed an Expedia trip to Barcelona, Spain with $10,000 CAD of spending money.

Although Felipe and Clara were last to meet the Pit Stop mat as a result of the tough Road Block, Jon informed them that no one was going home this leg. Instead, they were handed their next clue and told to keep racing.
