Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mario's first visit to the Cascade Kingdom will be directly from which of these, the only earlier visited Kingdom?

Answer: Cap Kingdom

After completing his first objectives in the Cap Kingdom, Mario will use Cappy to ride a power line from the top of Top-Hat Tower all the way to the Waterfall Basin of the Cascade Kingdom. This primeval-inspired land will contain not only Mario's first Power Moons, but also happens to be the place where he can obtain the Odyssey, an airship that'll allow him to travel even further in his adventures.

But first he'll have to navigate this dinosaur-laden early land.
2. 'Our First Power Moon' is the first instance where Mario can collect said objective. Which of these must he capture to obtain it?

Answer: Chain Chomp

Almost as soon as Mario lands in the Cascade Kingdom he'll be able to proceed along the path to his first Power Star, sealed away under heavy rocks. The only way to collect it is by using Cappy's capture ability, tossing the item onto the head of something nearby to inhabit its body.

In this case, the only useful figure is a Chain Chomp located nearby, and by inhabiting it, pulling back on its chain, and slingshotting into the boulders, Mario can free up the Power Moon and claim it while also making a bridge to the other side of a raging waterfall.
3. How many Power Moons does Mario need to activate the airship?

Answer: Five

On the other side of the waterfall (from the Mario's entry into the Kingdom), you'll be able to locate a rusty, old airship, the Odyssey, and utilize it to continue traveling around the globe. To do so, Mario must first toss Cappy at the globe near the machine.

Then, he needs to load the airship up with enough Power Moons to get it running. Once he puts in the first, at Cappy's insistence, it'll become apparent that the airship needs five to start up, so the trip around Cascade Kingdom continues from there.
4. Amongst other creatures, which of these dinosaurs can Mario transform into?

Answer: Tyrannosaurus Rex

Sleeping on one of the plateaus of the Cascade Kingdom is a massive t-rex, and by this point, it should be quite apparent how far Cappy's power extends. Tossing Cappy onto the t-rex allows Mario to transform into the massive beast, but only for a limited time. That said, with this time you'll be able to fight large foes and destroy all manner of loose rocks, opening new passageways and unlocking hidden items that may be overdue for excavation.

The t-rex is otherwise harmless to Mario.
5. The passage up the walls behind the waterfall will force Mario to transform, taking on which of these styles?

Answer: 8-Bit

Though both of these options lead to a flatter Mario, a pipe revealed by his t-rex form will open a passage up the cliffs of Fossil Falls, but that route will transform Mario into his old school, 8-bit self, forcing the player to partake in some true side-scroller action. The route upward should be quite straightforward, but a detour around the corner behind the falls leads to a Power Moon.

This 8-bit styling reappears in some later Kingdoms as well.
6. Which Broodal-related boss can be found in this Kingdom?

Answer: Madame Broode

Waiting at the top of Fossil Falls Heights is Madame Broode who, while not actually a member of the Broodals, waits there to hold off Mario with her gold Chain Chomp (or 'her Chain Chompikins'). The fight should be a straightforward one, especially if you got your first Power Moon, since it involves getting Cappy onto the Chain Chomp's head, dodging Madame Brood's swings, and launching at her three times.

Completion of the fight wins Mario a Multi-Moon (three Power Moons), and likely enough to restore the Odyssey.
7. A triceratops skull tops out the high plateau above Fossil Falls.

Answer: True

Fossil Falls Heights will be the spot at which you'll have your most precipitous view above the raging waters below, and before encountering Madame Broode, you'll be able to take a close look at the massive triceratops skull which rests above the water.

This unique landmark is one of the Kingdom's most memorable, so much so that a replica of it can be purchased from the Crazy Cap shop for twenty-five Purple Coins.
8. Which other Kingdom does NOT connect to the Cascade Kingdom via a Painting?

Answer: Metro Kingdom

The Cascade Kingdom may very well be the first time you encounter Paintings, even if you can't use them quite yet. Mario's ability to travel through Paintings has been known for quite a lot of his platforming career, and in this game, they allow you to link between Kingdoms without needing to travel by Odyssey. One Painting, found underneath the waterfall (in its basin) will link directly to Bowser's Kingdom.

Another, found on the Island in the Sky, links to the Seaside Kingdom or the Snow Kingdom.
9. The Purple Coins in Cascade Kingdom are which shape?

Answer: Circular

Taking on the form of purple stone wheels (with holes in the middle), the Regional Coins are intentionally primitive, leaning into the dinosaur/caveman aesthetic found in this Kingdom. There are fifty of these scattered throughout the area, and using them will allow Mario to pick up a Caveman Outfit and Headgear (which may come in handy for a Power Star later), a t-rex model for the Odyssey, and a giant triceratops head.
10. All in all, the Cascade Kingdom contains more than thirty Power Moons.

Answer: True

The Cascade Kingdom actually contains forty-- thirty-nine plus the Multi-Moon. Mario will only be able to collect a handful of these upon his first visit with Cappy (in which he claims the Odyssey), but a subsequent visit can net another dozen, a few more appear once Mario visits other Kingdoms and defeats Bowser, and then another fifteen come into play when Mario is able to destroy the Kingdom's Moon Rock, up at Fossil Falls Heights.
