Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first time Mario is able to fully access Mushroom Kingdom, what is he doing?

Answer: Napping

The first time you can visit Mushroom Kingdom in full is immediately after the game's end credits as they run right after escaping the collapsing moon in the Moon Kingdom. Coming out of the fade-to-black, Mario will be found laying in the grass next to the Odyssey, enjoying the idyllic landscape around Peach's Castle. Cappy will explain that he doesn't want their adventure to come to an end and, fortunately, it won't.

There's still a lot to do.
2. Instead of Power Moons, in the Mushroom Kingdom, it appears that Mario can collect which of these?

Answer: Power Stars

Another throwback to "Super Mario 64", the only Power Moons-- at least in Moon form-- that you'll find in Mushroom Kingdom will likely be Multi-Moons since all the rest, while being classified as Power Moons, will actually be Power Stars. They function the same in terms of totals, but you'll get a familiar jingle and animation when you collect any of them, and it's one that hasn't been in a "Mario" platformer since the 1990s.
3. Throughout the Mushroom Kingdom's many buildings, Mario can find rematches against past bosses. How does he access these?

Answer: By jumping into paintings

If nothing else, Mushroom Kingdom is a place to show off your skills in difficult ways. The idyllic world it inhabits holds a dark underbelly, all the better to make those late-game Power Moons all the more valuable. Part of the visit here might involve locating six different boss rematches (Knucklotec, Torkdrift, Mechawiggler, Mollusque-Lanceur, Cookatiel, and the Ruined Dragon) within towers and chambers found throughout the Kingdom.

In classic Mario fashion, you jump through paintings to travel to them. Each boss completed will reward a Multi-Moon, a suitable reward since the fights are tougher than the first time around.
4. Where can Mario locate Yoshi for the first time?

Answer: On the roof of Peach's castle

Again, just like in "Super Mario 64", Yoshi appears in his egg on top of Peach's Castle (even though his home is on a floating island not too far away!). All Mario needs to do to get him is find a scarecrow to make a staircase up to the roof and then crack his egg open. Just like all the other creatures in the game, Mario needs to capture Yoshi to use him, inhabiting his body instead of riding on his back. Throughout Mushroom Kingdom, Mario can use Yoshi to flutter around and eat apples, some of which will get Power Moons and some of which will unlock new locations.
5. Luigi, found near the fountain by the Odyssey, will tell Mario that he's taken interest in which of these?

Answer: Balloons

Speaking to Luigi will be quite enlightening because, while it's clear Luigi is happy to congratulate Mario on another job well-done by beating Bowser and saving Princess Peach, he's more interested in 'Balloon World', his new game in which you search for balloons hidden by people all over the world.

The game doesn't necessarily lead to more Power Moons, but as an online player, it gives you the ability to find balloons hidden by actual other players to collect points or to hide them for others to find.

There's also an online leaderboard for your efforts.
6. Toadette, who waits in Peach's throne room, will reward Mario with Power Moons for which of these?

Answer: Achievements

Toadette appears to be a record keeper when you locate her in Peach's Castle, and provided you're engaging with the game to a substantial enough degree, you stand to add a lot to your totals by just accomplishing as much as possible. Everything from completing Missions to finding Checkpoint Flags to jumping and using Cappy will reward you with Power Moons if you do them enough, and you can check your progress on all of them (more than five dozen!) from your tracker list in the map menu.
7. The Crazy Cap Shop will receive a massive influx of new costumes. Which is the only one that can be bought with Regional Coins?

Answer: Mario 64 Outfit

More than a dozen new, unlockable costumes will appear on the regular coin side of the Crazy Cap Shop (including some items valued at 9,999 coins!) but Mushroom Kingdom, like most Kingdoms before it, will also use purple Regional Coins, here shaped like coins from "Super Mario 64", and these will cap off the stickers, souvenirs, and dedicated gear for the game.

The Mario 64 cap and outfit will bring Mario back to polygon form and open up one of the chambers behind the castle. There are one hundred Regional Coins in the Mushroom Kingdom.
8. Mushroom Kingdom has the ability to up your Power Moon count more than any other location in the game.

Answer: True

Mushroom Kingdom contains a total of one hundred and sixteen Power Moons, which is by far the most you can find in a single Kingdom (second place being Sand Kingdom with ninety-three), and on your first visit you can collect them all, a welcome change since all other kingdoms require that you wait until Bowser is defeated to unlock a large component of them. Just under half of these Power Moons are from Toadette.
9. The 'Freerunning' mini-game is introduced here. Who does Mario face off against in these?

Answer: Koopas

Yet another way to get your hands on more Power Moons, since they now appear in every Kingdom if you've beaten Bowser, the Koopa Freerunning challenges will be operated by some speedy Koopas who will race you to a beacon-lit goal somewhere on the map.

In some of these races, Mario will have to overcome obstacles or make use of certain boosts to keep ahead, but the first one in Mushroom Kingdom is pretty straightforward, leaving Mario to beat four Koopas in a race to Peach's Castle from Dorrie's lake.

There's a Standard Cup and a Master Cup, the latter with a faster racer on the roster.
10. How many more Kingdoms can Mario open up after reaching the Mushroom Kingdom?

Answer: Two

Although it may seem like the game ends when Mario gets to the Mushroom Kingdom, there are actually two more Kingdoms down the line, both of which bring Mario to the further reaches of the moon beyond the Moon Kingdom. The first, Dark Side, is the Broodals' home world where Mario will face off against them one more time while collecting Power Moons. Mario needs 250 Power Moons to unlock it.

The second is Darker Side, a final championship stage with a single Multi-Moon unlocked when Mario has 500 Power Moons.
