Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Upon arriving in the Lake Kingdom, Mario will learn that the Broodals have stolen what local artifact?

Answer: The Lochlady Dress

Landing in the Lake Kingdom, Mario will emerge from the Odyssey with a single Mission put before him: Broodals Over the Lake. Talking to the nearest local in distress, a Lochlady on the water's edge, he'll learn that the Broodals have passed through to wreak their normal amount of general havoc while also doing a bit of shoplifting for the upcoming wedding, specifically snagging the Lochladies' prized creation, the Lochlady Dress, which is normally on display in a window of the Water Plaza. To fight back, Mario needs to head over to the flying ship above said plaza.
2. What's the name of the large, blue, top-hatted creature swimming around in Lake Lamode?

Answer: Dorrie

Dorrie, the loch monster, can be found swimming in circles around the Water Plaza of Lake Lamode with a Power Moon sitting on its back, and it's just as easy as swimming up and grabbing it (it doesn't move fast!). Making a return appearance from "Super Mario 64's" Hazy Maze Cave, Dorrie is a friendly creature amongst other less-friendly foes patrolling this area.

The region seems to love it though; some of its purchasable treats, waiting in the Crazy Cap Shop, pertain to it directly.
3. Throughout the Lake Kingdom, Mario can use Cappy on which of these artificial features of the region found along walls, floors, and ceilings?

Answer: Zippers

A nod to the Lochladies' penchant for fashion and design, the Lake Kingdom is adorned with numerous and massive zippers which, if Mario can find them, can be opened as you would any other regular fastener. Cappy's powers allow Mario to tug along the outline of an otherwise hidden panel, unzip it, and grant passage to whatever's hidden behind. Sometimes this will lead to Purple Coins; sometimes it'll grant convenient routes to other things; sometimes you'll find Power Moons.

The map of the area refers to these as 'Zippers of Mystery'.
4. Which Broodal does Mario fight in Lake Kingdom?

Answer: Rango

Reaching one of the highest points of the Lake Kingdom will bring Mario close enough to the Broodal airship to trigger a boss fight against Rango, the tallest of the Broodal four. In this fight, Rango will toss his sharp-brimmed hat at Mario who, thinking fast with Cappy, will be able to flip it upside down and create a flower pad to jump onto.

This'll be one of the only ways to get high enough to jump on Rango's head. Three of these'll end the battle, relinquish the Kingdom's only Multi-Moon, and end the 'Broodals Over the Lake' quest.
5. How many checkpoint flags can Mario reach in Lake Kingdom?

Answer: Seven

For a Kingdom of this size, this may seem like a high number, especially since Mario's visit is limited to a handful of caverns of various sizes. This total includes the one waiting at the Odyssey, but also three in the Water Plaza, one at the Underwater Entrance, one at the Courtyard, and one at the Viewing Balcony (accessed via a painting). For anyone not interested in swimming around, these waymarkers may be the most effective way of getting to spots that would be a hassle to reach otherwise.
6. Which of these Lake Kingdom foes can Mario 'capture' using Cappy?

Answer: Cheep Cheep

Although Fuzzies appear in some of the bonus areas of the Lake Kingdom, the general atmosphere of this mostly-underwater level doesn't lend itself to them quite so well, so Mario will only generally face Goombas, Cheep Cheeps, and seaweed-like Komboos. Goombas are an easy capture, based on past Kingdoms, but Cheep Cheeps will be new, allowing Mario to navigate the deep waters of this world without needing to fight for breath.

As soon as Mario crosses the barriers into dry parts of the Kingdom, he'll struggle in this form, naturally.
7. This Kingdom's Regional Coins are shaped like which of these?

Answer: Scales

Seashell Coins come into the game later, when Mario visits the Seaside Kingdom. Instead, here in the cavernous and crystal-clear waters of the Lake Kingdom, he'll get his hands on up to fifty purple scale coins, perhaps created in this shape to remind that the region is populated by mermaid-like Lochladies.

These can, of course, be used to purchase items from the Crazy Cap Shop including swimwear (as a cosmetic), an inflatable rubber Dorrie, and an underwater snowglobe.
8. A piece of artwork on a wall in the Lake Kingdom will show a previously-seen Kingdom and the location of a Power Moon. Which Kingdom is it?

Answer: Cascade Kingdom

Once you defeat Rango overtop Lake Lamode and claim the Multi-Moon you'll unlock a handful of Power Moon opportunities throughout the Kingdom, and one of these will come from the fact that the stairs near the Odyssey, previously destroyed, will be restored in full, creating a shortcut to the Main Plaza from your starting point. On these stairs, though, is a bit of artwork, specifically two images of a spot in the Cascade Kingdom (near the Odyssey) showing a small difference in the setting. If Mario goes to the Cascade Kingdom and ground pounds the indicated spot, he'll get a Power Moon.
9. The Style Sisters will reward Mario with Power Moons for wearing specific outfits. Which is not a correct outfit for these rewards?

Answer: Chef Hat and Chef Suit

Although the Style Sisters won't appear until Mario has defeated Bowser in the Moon Kingdom, Mario should be pretty well ready to show off his fashions by that point. The Style Sisters, a trio of Lochladies, will wait atop the Main Plaza and be looking for the cutting edge of fashion. Each will reward Mario with a Power Moon for showing them what they want, and this means switching into outfits from the Sand Kingdom, the Seaside Kingdom, and the Moon Kingdom, all purchased from their respective Crazy Cap Shops.
10. If Mario chose to visit the Lake Kingdom immediately after leaving the Sand Kingdom, what Kingdom MUST he visit next?

Answer: Wooded Kingdom

Leaving the Sand Kingdom in the Odyssey leads to a fork-in-the-road decision wherein Mario must determine if he should head to the Lake Kingdom or the Wooded Kingdom, and there's not really a wrong answer. This being said, completion of the Lake Kingdom means going to the Wooded Kingdom next, and vice versa if you chose to go to Wooded Kingdom first. To get to the next Kingdom down the line, the Cloud Kingdom, you'd need to have a certain amount of Power Moons from both earlier destinations to unlock the route.
