Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Stu Hart is regarded as one of the most influential people in the history of professional wrestling. Which large country did he call home?

Answer: Canada

Stu was born on May 3, 1915 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and died in 2003. He grew up poor and lived in a tent on a farm during the harsh Canadian winters. He had to hunt and milk cows in order to survive. Through his hardships, he eventually was able to overcome and become a titan in the pro wrestling industry.
2. Stu married Helen Smith in 1947 and they had 12 children. They resided in a mansion in Calgary that has become known by what title?

Answer: Hart House

Hart House is located in Calgary, Alberta. Stu Hart lived there from 1951 until his death in 2003. It was a 5600 square foot mansion with 25 bedrooms. After Stu's death, the family sold the house for $2 million. The house became a heritage site in the city of Calgary in 2012.
3. Stu Hart was perhaps best known as a wrestling trainer, but he was also a wrestler himself as well as a promotor. What was the name of the wrestling promotion he owned that was eventually bought out by Vince McMahon?

Answer: Stampede Wrestling

Stampede Wrestling ran from 1948 to 1984. Vince McMahon, owner of the WWF (later WWE), bought Stampede from Stu in 1984 but sold it back to the Harts in 1985. Stu's son Bruce ran it from 1985-1989, and it has been started up numerous times since. Some notable wrestlers from Stampede Wrestling include the Hart brothers, Dynamite Kid, British Bulldog, and Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart.
4. Stu trained many people in his basement. What was the name of this wrestling school?

Answer: The Dungeon

The Dungeon was not a very fancy place; it had low ceilings and basic wrestling mats with no ropes. Despite this, Hart trained many well-known wrestlers, such as Abdullah the Butcher, Superstar Billy Graham, Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts and many others.
5. Stu and Helen had twelve children. The eight brothers all became wrestlers, and the four sisters all married wrestlers. Which wrestler became part of the Hart family by marrying the youngest daughter, Diana?

Answer: Davey Boy Smith

Davey Boy Smith, perhaps better known as the British Bulldog wrestled in Stampede Wrestling and met Diana while wrestling in Calgary. He was one half of the tag team known as the British Bulldogs with Dynamite Kid. He later competed in singles competition in the WWF, and at SummerSlam 1992, he faced, and defeated brother-in-law Bret Hart for the Intercontinental championship with Diana in attendance.

She later came in the ring to support both men after the match.
6. Was Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart married to one of the Hart daughters?

Answer: Yes

Jim married Elizabeth one two separate occasions, the first being in 1979. They had three children together, and one of them, Natalie, became a wrestler in WWE known as Natalya. Jim won two WWF Tag Team championships with brother-in-law Bret, as the team known as the Hart Foundation. Neidhart died in 2018 after hitting his head while having a seizure.
7. The two most accomplished wrestlers of the 12 Hart children were Bret and Owen. They both had the same finishing maneuver. What was the name of this hold?

Answer: Sharpshooter

The sharpshooter, also known as the Scorpion Deathlock, is a submission hold in which is applied to the legs of an opponent who is lying down. It is similar to the Boston Crab. Bret Hart won his first WWF Championship when he made Ric Flair submit to the sharpshooter in 1992.
8. Both Bret and Owen were WWF Intercontinental Champions. Bret was also a five-time WWF Champion. Did Owen ever win the WWF Championship?

Answer: No

Although Owen had several WWF Championship matches, he never won the title. He did, however win the European title once, the Intercontinental title twice, and Tag Team title four times -- once with Jeff Jarrett, once with the British Bulldog, and twice with Yokozuna.

He might have eventually won the WWF title if he hadn't died tragically in the ring after a fall from the rafters during an entrance at a pay-per-view event in 1999.
9. Bret Hart left the WWF to go to the rival WCW in 1997. His final match in WWF was against Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series. What did this match later become known as?

Answer: Montreal Screwjob

The Montreal Screwjob is one of the most infamous matches in wrestling history. Bret Hart, WWF Champion at the time of the match, refused to lose the match because he had contractual rights. He suggested that the match end in a disqualification and he would relinquish the belt the next night before departing the company to go to WCW. Vince McMahon, owner of the WWF, agreed to this, but when the match was ongoing, he made the referee end the match while Hart was in a sharpshooter hold put on by Michaels, thus making it appear as if Hart submitted. Hart was extremely irate about this, but he eventually returned to the company in 2010, though he never forgot about the incident.
10. Although Bret Hart won two World Championships in WCW, his time there was largely a disappointment. He suffered a career ending injury in 1999 during a match against whom?

Answer: Bill Goldberg

Hart successfully defended his WCW World Championship against Bill Goldberg at Starrcade in December 1999, but during the match he was kicked in the head by Goldberg, leaving him concussed, but still able to finish the match. Hart would not wrestle again after this match, and relinquished the title the following month.

He did have a few matches in the WWE following his 2010 return, but he was limited due in large part to effects from a stroke he suffered in 2002.
