The Balearic Sea is a marginal sea of the Mediterranean, located off the east coast of Spain, and is best known for the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. These are some of the most popular holiday destinations for European tourists. Ibiza is the third largest of these, and is especially well known for its nightlife.

Answer: Brussels

Brussels is the capital city of Belgium, and is regarded as the de facto capital of the EU, as many of that body's institutions are located there. Brussels is also home to a number of tourist attractions such as the Atomium, the Mannekin Pis and the Grand Palace.

Answer: Burgenland

Burgenland is in Austria. Situated in the far east of that country, it is both its smallest and least populated state. Bavaria is the largest state of Germany, and lies in the southeast, with Munich being its largest city. Brandenburg surrounds, but doesn't include, Berlin; Potsdam is its capital. Baden-Wurttemberg, with Stuttgart as its capital, is in the southwest of Germany.

Lake Balaton has a surface area of 230 square miles, and is located in western Hungary. Fed by the Zala River, the area around its shores is noted for its vineyards.

Berlin, the capital city of Germany, is home to over 130 museums and 400 art galleries. Many of these are located in Museum island, which is part of Spree Island in the river of the same name. Answer: Bernese Alps

The Eiger is over 13,000 feet tall and is located in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. The mountain's north face is regarded as one of the most challenging ascents for climbers, and wasn't successfully conquered until 1938. Clint Eastwood starred in a 1975 movie called "The Eiger Sanction", much of which was filmed on location on the mountain.
8. The Sagrada Familia is a cathedral and UNESCO World Heritage Site in which Spanish city?

Answer: Barcelona

Barcelona is the second biggest city in Spain and the capital of the Catalonia autonomous community. The Sagrada Familia was designed by Antoni Gaudi, with construction beginning in 1882 - by 2020, it still wasn't finished. Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the building in 2010.
9. Which of these four European capital cities does NOT lie on the banks of the Danube River?

Answer: Bucharest

The Danube flows from the Black Forest to the Black Sea and is one of the longest rivers in Europe. Bratislava (Slovakia), Budapest (Hungary) and Belgrade (Serbia) all lie on its banks, but Bucharest does not. Although the Danube does flow through Romania, and indeed reaches the sea there, the country's capital actually lies on the banks of the Dambovita River.
10. Which Italian city is home to the oldest surviving university in the world?

Answer: Bologna

Bologna is a city in northern Italy, and the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region. The University of Bologna was founded in 1088, eight years before the University of Oxford was founded in England. In 2020, it had a student body of nearly 90,000. Apart from its university, Bologna is renowned for its cuisine, including Bolognese sauce and prosciutto.
