5. Mr. Willoughby

Answer: Combe Magna

Mr. Willoughby, a character in JA's "Sense and Sensibility", is a true rake, but he does fall in love with Marianne Dashwood. He seduces Colonel Brandon's ward, breaks Marianne's heart, and marries an heiress for her money. However, when Marianne is ill at Cleveland, Willoughby makes a surprise visit, almost convincing Elinor that he is not as black a villain as she had supposed.
6. Lady Catherine De Bourgh

Answer: Rosings Park

Lady Catherine, a character in JA's "Pride and Prejudice", is Mr. Darcy's aunt and Mr. Collins's patron. Mr. Collins looks upon her as the queen of condescension.
7. Mr. Edward Gardiner

Answer: Gracechurch Street, London

Mr. Gardiner, a character in JA's "Pride and Prejudice", is Mrs. Bennet's brother. He is the opposite of his sister: helpful, cool-headed, caring, diligent, and gentlemanly. It is he who houses the disgraced Lydia Bennet (his niece) after she shacks up with Mr. Wickham in London and before she finally marries her lover.
8. Mr. Robert Martin

Answer: Abbey-Mill Farm

Mr. Martin, a gentleman farmer in JA's "Emma", proposes to Emma Woodhouse's little protege, Harriet Smith. Since Emma considers him an inappropriate husband for any friend of hers, she convinces Harriet to turn him down. Luckily, near the end of the novel, he proposes to Harriet again, and she accepts him this time.
9. Mrs. Smith

Answer: Westgate Buildings, Bath

In JA's "Persuasion", an old school friend of Anne Elliot's, Mrs. Smith, has fallen upon hard times. She is a disabled, impecunious widow. It turns out that Anne's cousin Mr. Elliot had a hand in ruining Mr. Smith before he died.
10. Admiral Croft

Answer: Kellynch Hall

In JA's "Persuasion", Admiral Croft is Captain Wentworth's brother-in-law. After Sir Walter Elliot squanders much of his fortune, he is forced to rent out his ancestral home and move to Bath. Admiral and Mrs. Croft turn out to be fabulous tenants. They are one of the select few older couples in JA's novels who seem to have perfect marriages.
