Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jack mentions going ice fishing on Lake Wissota as a youth. What's wrong with this statement?

Answer: Lake Wissota wasn't created until after the Titanic sank

2. 'Unsinkable' Molly Brown, the Colorado nouveau riche socialite, was aboard the Titanic and was instrumental in saving her lifeboat full of women. But what was incorrect about Molly Brown's portrayal?

Answer: She wasn't called Molly

'Molly' was added when her life story was made into a Broadway play.
3. The day after Jack saves Rose, they are walking along the promenade. What unlikely object is in the background?

Answer: a hill

A small hill with a building on it is visible over Jack's shoulder and above the ship.
4. When Jack sketches Rose, what is unusual about his hands?

Answer: they're too aged for someone in their early 20's

The close-ups of the sketch as it's being drawn show hands that are older-looking than Jack's (Leonardo DiCaprio). The hands actually belong to director James Cameron, who did the sketch.
5. When Jack was handcuffed, he was nervously looking out the porthole at the rising water. What was wrong with this scene?

Answer: Master-at-Arms' office was an interior room

6. When Rose is coming to New York on her rescue ship, she is looking at the Statue of Liberty. What was wrong with this scene?

Answer: her view of the Statue is only possible from dry land

Also, it was shown in its current green color. It wasn't significantly corroded until after WWII.
7. Cal has a gun. What was wrong with this?

Answer: His gun model wasn't made until 1926

Cal's gun is in fact a model 1911A1, a modified version of the 1911 that didn't appear until 1926. The main distinguishing feature is its curved mainspring housing (bottom part of the grip), which on the 1911 is straight.
8. At one point, dolphins are paralleling the ship. What was wrong with this scene?

Answer: the dolphin species shown isn't native to the North Atlantic

The dolphins shown in the film following the ship are Pacific White Sided Dolphins. They do not occur in the Atlantic, where the ship was meant to be.
9. In the movie, Jack and his friend (and later, Jack and Rose) go to the bow of the ship. What was wrong with this?

Answer: Passengers were not allowed at the forecastle head, or bow

The sign that declared 'Passengers Not Allowed Beyond This Point' was mounted on the leeward side of the forward breakwater (both port and starboard), and was missing in the film.
10. What was wrong with the cigarettes shown in the movie?

Answer: Filtered cigarettes didn't come out until the 1940s.
