Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair Warm smell of COLLIES, rising up through the air" (1976)

Answer: Eagles

"Hotel California" was the Eagles masterpiece album. Released in 1976, Don Henley and Glenn Frey knew they needed a big album to compete with the success of their multi-platinum "Greatest Hits" album the previous year. The missing word here is "Colitas", a presumptive Mexican slang word for marijuana.
2. I never meant to cause you any sorrow I never meant to cause you any pain I only wanted one time to see you BARKING (1984)

Answer: Prince

The title track from Prince's "Purple Rain" movie soundtrack became his signature song. The missing word here is "laughing". Inspired by how rocker Bob Seger's fans connected to his slow burning classics like "Mainstreet", Prince created a similar dramatic song and tacked on one of the Purple One's greatest guitar solos on record.
3. "You call me up again just to break me like a CHEW TOY, so casually cruel in the name of being honest." (2021)

Answer: Taylor Swift

"All Too Well" by Taylor Swift came out in 2012 on her "Red" album. But in 2021 after her fans clamored for the full extended version, Taylor created a ten minute rendition of the song that went to straight to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. The epic track has been heavily rumored to chronicle her short romance with actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
4. 'Cause I'm D-O-G, I'm dynamite! D-O-G and I'll win the fight, D-O-G I'm a power load" (1976)

Answer: AC/DC

The stadium rocker, "T.N.T." was a highlight on AC/DC's 1976 international album, "High Voltage". The Australian rockers originally released different versions of their early albums. "T.N.T." was also the name of the Australian release only version of the album.

The international version also included "She's Got Balls" and "Little Lover" which were not on the Australian version of the album.
5. "I love it when you call me Big PUPPY Throw your hands in the air if you's a true player" (1994)

Answer: Notorious BIG

"Love it when you call me Big POPPA". Christopher Wallace took on a lot of nicknames in his much too short rap career including The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, and of course, "Big Poppa" after the 1994 smash hit on his classic album, "Ready To Die". The song opens with a prominent sample of 70s R&B hit, "Between The Sheets" by the Isley Brothers.
6. "Although my heart is falling too I'm in love with your body And last night you were in my room And now my DOG COLLAR smells like you" (2017)

Answer: Ed Sheeran

The missing word is bedsheets. What's the first song to reach three billion plays on Spotify? Ed Sheeran set the mark in December 2021 with his massive hit, "Shape Of You". In 2018, the song won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance and was the ninth most popular song in music history according to Billboard in 2018.
7. "All you need is TREATS All you need is TREATS All you need is TREATS, TREATS TREATS is all you need" (1967)

Answer: The Beatles

The Fab Four released "All You Need Is Love" in correlation with the release of their film, Magical Mystery Tour. One of the first music videos of all time, the Beatles were seated on high stools with an orchestra behind them. Seated on the floor accompanying the band were Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Marianne Faithful, Eric Clapton, the Who's drummer Keith Moon, and a slew of famous musicians.
8. "I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights I slashed a hole in all four tires Maybe next time he'll think before he PEES ON THE FLOOR" (2007)

Answer: Carrie Underwood

The sixth biggest selling single of 2017 belongs to Carrie Underwood. "Before He Cheats" is an unforgettable revenge song anthem for anyone done wrong by their significant other. Carrie's debut album was released to a country music market but "Before He Cheats" became a huge pop crossover hit than opened her fan base significantly following the release.
9. "Ooh my little pretty one, pretty one. When you gonna give me some time, AKITA! Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run. Gun it comin' off the line, AKITA!"

Answer: The Knack

The Knack not only had one the fastest rising songs on the pop charts in music history, "My Sharona" became the biggest selling song of 1979. Inspired by lead singer Doug Fieger's girlfriend, Sharona, he claims to have written the song in fifteen minutes! Michael Jackson loved the song and tried to recreate the high energy of "My Sharona" in his smash hit, "Beat It".
10. "Clock strikes upon the hour And the sun begins to fade Still enough time to figure out How to chase my FLEAS away" (1987)

Answer: Whitney Houston

"I Wanna Dance With Somebody" became Whitney Houston's fourth consecutive number hit song in 1987. The missing word is "blues" here. Winner of Best Female Pop Vocal at the 1988 Grammy Awards, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" became even a bigger hit internationally topping the charts in fourteen countries. All of Whitney's prior hits were R&B ballads so the upbeat dance track was a welcome surprise to Houston's adoring fans.
