Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "She was a"

Answer: You Shook Me All Night Long

"You Shook Me All Night Long" was released in 1980 on the seventh studio album by ACDC, and the the first album without Bon Scott as lead singer. The song was written by band members Brian Johnson, and Malcolm and Angus Young. The songwriting credits have been a point of controversy for many years now. Bon Scott's former girlfriend, Silver Smith, recalled a letter he wrote to a friend about just meeting her.

In the letter he wrote, "She told me to come, but I was already there". These, of course, are famous lyrics from the song itself.

The complete first line of lyrics are, "She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean".
2. "Backstroke lover always"

Answer: Walk This Way

"Walk This Way" was released in 1975 on the third studio album by Aerosmith. It was written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. The band's career was revitalized in the late 1980s when they collaborated with hip hop/rap legends Run-D.M.C. on a covered version of the song, and the video only furthered the fortunes of both groups.

The complete first line of lyrics are, "Backstroke lover always hidin' 'neath the cover".
3. "I get up"

Answer: Jump

"Jump" was released in 1983 on the sixth studio album by the band Van Halen. It was written by David Lee Roth, and Eddie and Alex Van Halen. The song was a divergence from what was the group's typical style. Eddie described it as a "Synth Rock" tune. According to Daryl Hall, of Hall and Oates fame, Eddie had asked to basically copy the synthesizer part from the Hall and Oates song "Kiss on My List". Daryl gave his consent without any legal attachments.

The complete first line of lyrics are, "I get up, and nothing gets me down".
4. "It's all the"

Answer: Wanted Dead or Alive

"Wanted Dead or Alive" was released in 1987 on the third studio album by the band Bon Jovi. It was written by the band's namesake Jon Bon Jovi and lead guitarist Richie Sambora. Jon always compared the lifestyles of rock stars to the outlaws of the old west.

He said each was "a young band of thieves riding into town, stealing the money, the girls, and the booze before the sun came up". It has been the opening theme song for the T.V. series "Deadliest Catch" for nearly 20 years. The complete first line of lyrics are, "It's all the same, only the names will change".
5. "You show us"

Answer: Rock and Roll All Nite

"Rock and Roll All Nite" was released in 1975 on the third studio album by the band KISS. It was written by band members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. Their record label was upset that their record sales had waned, and told them to come up with some sort of "Rock Anthem" for the next album.

The studio got just that, and with it the KISS Army grew tenfold. For the repeated choruses on the recording they used the road crew, studio musicians, and some fans/groupies to clap and sing to make as much raucous as possible.

The complete first line of lyrics are, "You show us everything you've got".
6. A modern day"

Answer: Tom Sawyer

"Tom Sawyer" was released in 1981 on the eighth studio album by the band Rush. It was written by all three members of the band, as well as a Canadian poet and lyricist by the name of Pye Dubois. The song is a portrait of a modern day rebel. It is about a free spirited individual who is seeking the answer to the difference between who people are, and what others perceive them to be.

The complete first line of lyrics are, "A modern day warrior".
7. "Rat tailed Jimmy"

Answer: Dr. Feelgood

"Dr. Feelgood" was released in 1989 on the fifth studio album by Motley Crüe. It was written by band members Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars. Motley Crüe had initially stepped onto the music scene as a Glam Metal band, but as the years passed they became more of a Hard Rock group. That transformation became more profitable, as the single "Dr. Feelgood" and the album of the same name became their biggest career sellers.

The complete first line of lyrics are, "Rat tailed Jimmy is a secondhand hood".
8. "One foot on"

Answer: I Can't Drive 55

"I Can't Drive 55" was released in 1984 on the eighth studio album by solo artist Sammy Hagar. It was written by the "Red Rocker" (Sammy's nickname). Hagar wrote the song in response to a speeding ticket he got in New York state for going 62 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Many believe the song played a pivotal role in the repeal of the National Maximum Speed Law. Three years after the song's success most states made 65-70 mph their new speed limits. The complete first line of lyrics are, "One foot on the brake, and one on the gas, hey".
9. "Gunter, Glieben, Glauten"

Answer: Rock of Ages

"Rock of Ages" was released in 1983 on the third studio album by Def Leppard. It was written by band members Joe Elliot and Steve Clark, as well as record producer Robert "Mutt" Lange. The iconic intro to the song, and the complete first line of lyrics, "Gunter, Glieben, Glauten, Globen", mean absolutely nothing. They are German sounding gibberish that "Mutt" Lange made up.
10. "Clean shirt, new"

Answer: Sharp Dressed Man

"Sharp Dressed Man" was released in 1983 on the eighth studio album by the band ZZ Top. Songwriting credits were given to all three members of the band. The video for the song was the centerpiece of a trilogy that started with "Gimme All Your Lovin'", and ended with the video for the song "Legs". All were hit videos, and helped propel "A little ol' band from Texas" to superstar status. "Sharp Dressed Man" was reintroduced to audiences in the mid 2000s when it was used as the intro music for the hit T.V. series "Duck Dynasty".

The complete first line of lyrics are, "Clean shirt, new shoes".
