1. What league did George Sherrill start his professional career?

Answer: Frontier

After being undrafted from Austin Peay University, Sherrill signed with the Frontier League's Evansville Otters in 1999. He later played for Sioux Falls and Winnipeg of the Northern League. The Seattle Mariners purchased Sherrill's contract in 2003. He was traded to Baltimore as part of the Erik Bedard deal in 2008. Sherrill represented Baltimore at the 2008 All-Star Game.

Answer: True

Coste was a journeyman catcher. He played for Concordia College, a Division III school in Minnesota. In 1995, he signed with a North Central League team out of Brainerd, Minnesota, but the league folded soon after. He spent the rest of the year with the Prarie League's Brandon Grey Owls. In 1996-1999, he was a member of the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks of the Northern League. After that, he spent time with the Cleveland, Boston, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia organizations.

In 2007, at the age of 33, Coste finally got called up to The Show and would become a member of the 2008 World Series champion team. Coste has written two books: "Hey...I'm Just the Catcher," a 1997 book about his experience in the independent leagues, and 2008's "The 33-Year-Old Rookie."

Beech was involved in a 2007 incident between Atlantic League rivals Bridgeport and Long Island. Long Island's Jose Offerman attacked Beech after being hit by a pitch. Beech played for Philadelphia from 1996-1998, going 8-22 in 53 appearances.
