Answer: 1992

Throughout the 1980s, darts had enjoyed a lot of television coverage and was attracting sponsors. However, in the late 1980s the interest had dwindled in the game and there was hardly any television coverage. Many players blamed the British Darts Organisation for not attracting sponsors and also for failing to get more than one event a year televised.

Several players decided to form the the World Darts Council (WDC) in 1992 to try and bring more interest to the sport. This organisation eventually became the PDC and began attracting massive TV audiences and sponsors alike.
5. How many years consecutively did Taylor win the world championship starting from the 1995 edition?

Taylor had appeared to be in control leading 3-0 but van Barneveld produced a staggering comeback to take the match to a last set decider. 7. In May 2007, Taylor won the Premier League Darts event. Which player did he defeat in the final?

Answer: James Wade

Taylor picked himself up after defeat to van Barneveld in the world championship final and won the Premier League Darts event. He had suffered a slow start to the campaign losing 3 of his first 4 matches but improved to finish at the top of the standings. In the semi-final, he defeated Adrian Lewis 11-2 before defeating Wade in the final 16-8.
8. What astonishing feat did Taylor complete in the 2010 Premier League darts final against James Wade?

10. In the 2014 UK Open Taylor suffered a shock defeat to which player?

Answer: Aden Kirk

Kirk, world ranking #137, beat Taylor 9-7. This led to many pundits to say that Taylor's career was in terminal decline. Taylor proved them wrong by winning the World Matchplay and the Sydney Darts Masters later that year.
