Question 11 of 15
11. As a reluctant member of the Scooby Gang, Cordelia Chase began on her path as an evil fighter. She dated Xander and fought baddies, all the while questioning her sanity. She was rich and popular and couldn't believe she was involved with these people. Question 12 of 15
12. This Scooby arrived in town in the third season of "Buffy". They were all reluctant to accept him as the town's newest Watcher, except for Cordy, who found him intensely attractive. Who was this Watcher, who went on to become quite adept as a leader and a fighter on "Angel"? Hint

Question 13 of 15
13. The third season of "Buffy" was a tumultuous time for the gang. Faith arrived and went bad, Angel came back from Hell and was unable to fully resume his romance with Buffy, and the mayor was using the town to ascend into a true demon. So, when Faith poisoned Angel at the end of the season, whose blood saved his life? Hint

Question 14 of 15
14. In season one we met Jenny Calendar, the school computer science teacher. She was a modern day pagan, or so she said, and a love interest for Giles. In season two we learned she'd been sent to Sunnydale to spy on Angel. This betrayal not only led to a parting of the ways between her and the Scoobies, but it also led to her death. Who killed her and how? Hint

Question 15 of 15
15. One last "Honorary" Scooby title in this quiz goes to a slayer named Kendra. After Buffy's momentary death in the season one finale, Kendra was called as a slayer. One slayer dies, and another slayer takes her place. This reset the slayer path, because two slayers lived at the same time. When Kendra died in season two, this led to Faith being called, and Faith had a huge character arc on both "Buffy" and "Angel". But, which character was the one who killed Kendra? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these characters did *not* die during Buffy's high school graduation ceremony?

Answer: Faith

In the season three finale, Mayor Wilkins ascended into a very large demon. Before he died, he killed Larry and Snyder. The Mayor died himself, when Buffy led him into the library packed with explosives. Faith was in a coma at the time, but she did not die. Harmony died as well, and returned the next season as a vampire.

Some may argue that Faith was not a member of the Scooby Gang, but I say she was indeed. She arrived in Sunnydale, a slayer of good intent, and was done in by pain and jealousy. After a restful eight month long coma, she ended up in Los Angeles and begged Angel to kill her because "I'm evil". Back to the good, she turned herself in for her crimes to save Angel, broke out of jail to round up Angelus in season four of "Angel", and then returned to Sunnydale with Willow to fight the First Evil in the last season of "Buffy".

She continued fighting on the right side in the canonical comic book continuation.
2. In which season four episode did Buffy sink a stake into Spike's chest, whilst fighting him outside of the UC Sunnydale campus?

Answer: The Harsh Light of Day

This episode marked Spike's second return to Sunnydale after leaving in the season two finale. He had somehow hooked up with Harmony and was drilling the earth looking for the Gem of Amara. He tried to kill Buffy after finding it, but she took the ring off of his finger. She sent the ring to Los Angeles to be with Angel, and Spike went after it. He appeared on the "Angel" episode "In the Dark", where the Gem of Amara was referred to as the "ring of Amara". In what I call carryover mistakes, Spike complimented Cordy by name on how she looked in this episode. I have no recollection of Spike ever knowing Cordy. She was there when he was injured in "What's My Line Pt. 2", but he was nowhere near her to hear her name. She, of course, would know all about him, but he should have no name recognition for her. Also a mistake, the vampire torturer Marcus remarked on how Angel had lived for over 200 years with very little external damage. As a vampire, Angel should have NO new external damage. They heal their wounds, even if some take longer. If that is truly the case, are we to believe Angel got his tattoo in the 1700s?

Riley would later stake Spike as well, in season five, but the stake was not made of wood. He just wanted to scare Spike, but had a real stake on hand in case he needed it. "Primeval" was the only other season four episode listed here.
3. Where did Angel first meet Detective Kate Lockley?

Answer: In a nightclub called D'Oblique

Kate was undercover in the second episode of "Angel" called "Lonely Hearts". Doyle had received a vision that sent Angel to the same club, called D'Oblique. Initially Kate thought Angel could be the killer, but she realized in the end he was not. He saved her life, and she saved his, and the burrower demon died inside its human host. Kate lasted through about season and a half before she disappeared.

Angel was most definitely a Scooby member, even though Xander hated him and Faith tried to turn him evil. He even returned briefly at the end of season seven to help Buffy against the First Evil.
4. I am sure most fans know that Xander's name is Alexander Harris. But, who was the only Scooby to ever call him "Alex", in the season six episode "Tabula Rasa"?

Answer: Dawn

This was the episode where Willow cast a spell to make Buffy and Tara forget their pain. Unfortunately, a bag of Lethe's Bramble caught fire and caused the entire Scooby Gang to lose their memories. Some of them had identification and were able to figure out their identities. So, when on the run from the loan shark gang, Dawn exclaimed "Alex" in warning because none of them knew he went by "Xander".

This spell gone wrong was the straw that broke the camel's back, and Tara left Willow at the end.
5. Other than offering a great deal of demonic knowledge, which Scooby member had a penchant for cleaning his glasses and getting knocked unconscious?

Answer: Giles

Poor Giles! He should have been in a vegetative state by the end of season four. He was knocked out many times, including the time at the end of season one when Buffy hit him. She knocked him out to stop him from facing the Master. Miss Calendar was there when it happened, and Buffy told her to think of something clever to say to him.

In season three of "Buffy", Wesley was seen cleaning his glasses a few times as well, but he was never known for being knocked unconscious many times over. Giles later admitted his frequency for cleaning often had to do with trying to ignore what the other Scoobies were doing in his presence.
6. Which of the gang did Giles employ at the Magic Box in season five?

Answer: Anya

After over a year of being out of work, Giles decided to purchase the once again ownerless Magic Box in season five. After the death of Mr. Bogerty, the third person we'd known to be running the local magic store, Giles looked over the books and realized the profit margin was pretty high. So, he bought the store and provided Buffy with a workout space off to the side, in a separate room. Anya, who had a knack for all things money related, became his right hand. She liked having a place in the world, and he liked having help. When he left in season six, she took over running the store entirely. Buffy also worked there for the "hour that wouldn't end" in season six.

The first owner/manager we saw was in season two, and he knew Jenny's Uncle Enos. The second owner/manager was a woman, whom Spike killed in season three. Then, poor Mr. Bogerty (who we only saw as a corpse), killed by Harmony and her gang in season five. Giles bought the store afterward, and Anya ran it in season six until Willow destroyed it.
7. I give an honorary "Scooby Gang" title to this character killed in the pilot episode. He was a friend of Xander and Willow, and lured Buffy and Xander down toward the Master's lair in episode two. What was his name and who played him?

Answer: Jesse played by Eric Balfour

Joss Whedon has stated that he really had intended to have Eric's name appear in the opening credits, and then kill him off right away to show how no one was safe in this world. It did not happen, but Buffy got to know Xander, Willow, Jesse, and Cordy in the first episode. Jesse was taken and turned into a vampire, and later staked by Xander in the Bronze. Jesse was more shoved into Xander's stake than Xander intentionally killing him. Eric Balfour went on to many successful roles, including ones on "Six Feet Under" and "Haven".

J. Patrick Lawlor did play Thomas in the pilot, but he was already a vampire, and in no way friends with the kids on their way to being Scoobies.
8. Which Scooby had the misinformation of being turned into a werewolf after being bitten by his cousin Jordy?

Answer: Oz

We, and the Scoobies, got to know Daniel "Oz" Osborne during season two. Oz was played by Seth Green through season four. But, it was in the season two episode "Phases", that he turned into a werewolf. When he suspected that was the case, he called his aunt and asked her if Jordy was a werewolf. She confirmed it, and Oz asked her how long that had been going on. Even after this huge change, Willow did not want to give up on their budding romance. They stayed together and fought evil until being a werewolf got in the way. In season four, Oz's animal side took over when he came into contact with another wolf named Veruca. This led to Oz leaving town and Willow meeting Tara.

Ethan Rayne was evil, taken into custody by the government in season four, and never a Scooby.

Oz appeared in the season 8 comics. There'd been talk about him going to Los Angeles to be on "Angel", but the timing wasn't worked out, and Glenn Quinn became Angel's first sidekick instead.
9. After Angel left Sunnydale, several Scoobies found their way to Los Angeles. Which Scooby never made it there to appear on "Angel"?

Answer: Giles

Spike, Faith, and Andrew also made it to Los Angeles during the run of "Angel". Some could argue that Andrew was not a Scooby Gang member, but he helped them during their fight with the First, and established he was a full member of Buffy's team during the final season of "Angel", and in the comics.

Other than Giles, Xander, Anya, and Dawn also never made it L.A. Some evilies that found their way there were Darla, Drusilla, and Harmony.
10. I bestow another "Honorary" title to Joyce Summers, Buffy and Dawn's mother. Through her five seasons, Joyce became a beloved character, though not technically a Scooby (as she wasn't really an evil fighter). Though never seen once, what kind of business did Joyce run in Sunnydale?

Answer: Art gallery

Joyce opened an art gallery in Sunnydale in the first season, and talked about it on many occasions. The audience never saw it, or her working there, but she talked about it, art work and artists over the years. I always wondered why she was safe working in Sunnydale after dark, as she was only attacked twice by vampires, and they were Darla and Zachary Kralick. Both of those times were at her own home. She invited Darla inside and Kralick lured her outside. Angelus approached her once, but Willow had done an de-invitation spell and he couldn't enter the house. Joyce invited Dracula inside in season five, but he never attacked her. He just wanted access to Buffy later.

Kristine Sutherland played Joyce in 58 episodes, including ones were she appeared to Buffy in a dream and to Dawn as the First. Joyce was about 23 when Buffy was born, and about 43 when she died (1958-2001).
11. As a reluctant member of the Scooby Gang, Cordelia Chase began on her path as an evil fighter. She dated Xander and fought baddies, all the while questioning her sanity. She was rich and popular and couldn't believe she was involved with these people. Sadly, her path led to her death after which former higher power took control of her body, and birthed itself on "Angel"?

Answer: Jasmine

Cordelia lost her trust fund and ran off to Los Angeles to become a famous actress. Unfortunately, she was being manipulated by a former higher power, which led to everything that happened. She came to L.A. and reunited with Angel, met Doyle, got Doyle's visions so he could die a hero, became part demon to tolerate the visions, ascended to a high power after falling in love with Angel, and returned to Earth with a passenger inside her. Jasmine controlled Cordy, created her own body by seducing Connor, and then killed Cordy while being born. Of course, Cordy did not die right away.

She languished in a coma for months before returning in time to warn Angel about the Circle of the Black Thorn. She kissed him, gave him her last vision, said goodbye and died.
12. This Scooby arrived in town in the third season of "Buffy". They were all reluctant to accept him as the town's newest Watcher, except for Cordy, who found him intensely attractive. And, while he mumbled, stumbled, and grumbled his way through his stint as Watcher, he went on to achieve great success as an evil fighter. Who was this Watcher, who went on to become quite adept as a leader and a fighter on "Angel"?

Answer: Wesley

Wesley Wyndam-Pryce went from zero to hero. He'd been trained as a Watcher without the benefit of much actual hands on experience. He was a snob, afraid of his own shadow, when he came to town to take over Giles' job. At the end of season three, Buffy quit the Watchers' Council and Wes was out of a job.

He went rogue demon hunter and ended up in Los Angeles after Doyle's death. He worked side by side with Cordy, Angel, and Gunn before a prophecy caused him to be cast out. Angel made a decision that erased all of that history for Wes, and he was back in the fold again in the show's final season. Wes did get his memory back, at the same time Connor did, and died a hero.

Answer: Buffy's

The poisoning was an attempt to distract Buffy from the mayor's ascension. Also, bonus, it would kill Angel, who Faith had a huge grudge against. He'd been part of a scheme with Buffy to trick Faith into revealing the mayor's plans. She'd been humiliated by them, and been looking for payback. So, she stood atop the movie theater and shot a poisoned arrow into him.

It turned out that only a slayer's blood could reverse the effects and save Angel. Buffy tried to feed Faith to him, but Faith got away from Buffy. So, Buffy went and fed herself to Angel and saved him.

Afterward, Angel took Buffy to the hospital where Faith had lapsed into a coma.

Answer: Angelus broke her neck

Darla was long dusted by the time of Jenny's death. Jenny was part of the Gypsy clan who'd cursed Angelus in 1898, and she came to town to make sure he was still tormented by the soul they'd returned to him. Angelus had killed a beloved daughter of the clan, and his punishment was a soul drenched in blood. That soul did torture him endlessly, but it also led to him uniting with the Scoobies to do good. Unfortunately the curse had a small twist, which was one moment of true happiness and that soul would once again be yanked away from him, leaving the brutal killer in its place.

When that happened, Angelus was reunited with Drusilla and Spike, and bent on making Buffy miserable. He killed Jenny inside the school by breaking her neck, because she was almost ready with the curse that would restore his soul.

This act devastated the gang, leaving them with the resolve that Angel was not coming back. On "Angel" we found out that it was Darla who'd brought him the Gypsy girl in the first place. So, basically, it was Darla's fault he'd had his soul restored in the first place. That soul sickened her, but it was all her own fault.

It led to Angel coming to Sunnydale, staking Darla to save Buffy, and lastly, her being brought back as human by Wolfram and Hart.

Answer: Drusilla

Drusilla slit Kendra's throat with her fingernails. This was during the the season two finale episode "Becoming, Pt. 1". Kendra had returned to help Buffy fight Angelus, and Buffy was tricked into leaving Kendra, Giles, Xander, Willow, and Cordy alone in the library.

After Kendra was killed, Giles was taken to be tortured for information on how to awaken Acathala. Buffy found Kendra dead, and was promptly busted by the police as the killer. She got away from them, and reunited with Xander at the hospital. Buffy made a deal with Spike in "Becoming, Pt. 2" to get Giles back, and he'd be allowed to leave town with Drusilla.

In the end, Buffy was forced to send Angel to Hell in order to close Acathala's portal. Later we found out that Spike's deal with Buffy led to Drusilla leaving him for a Chaos demon.

He got her back, and then according to Harmony, she dumped him for a Fungus demon. So basically, Spike's season two deal with Buffy led to Drusilla dumping him, him getting a chip in his head, falling in love with Buffy, getting his soul returned, and saving the world.
