Answer: Andy Woodman

Andy Woodman made a total of 163 appearances for Northampton Town between the years 1995 to 1998. He started his last game for the Cobblers in the 1-0 loss, away to Colchester (10th Nov. 1998). He was a much travelled man, having played for more than 10 clubs, making a total of 438 appearances.

2. Which Cobbler scored the first goal of the 2002-03 season?

Answer: Marco Gabbiadini

Marco scored in the first game of the season against Crewe Alexandra, after coming on as a substitute for the injured Darryn Stamp in a 1-1 draw. He made a total of 120 appearances for Northampton Town and scored 25 times. He played for ten different league clubs during a 20 year career, making a total of 670 appearances and scoring a total of 226 goals. At international level he played twice for England under 21s and once for England B team.

Answer: Sam Parkin

Sam Parkin was #9 in his season long loan from Chelsea. He started his footballing career with the Chelsea youth team in 1997. He never made a senior appearance with them and was loaned to various clubs, including his stint with Northampton Town. He played a total of 40 games for the Cobblers and scored four times. After his loan period ended he was transferred to Swindon Town, for whom he played 124 times scoring 67 goals. He ended his playing career in 2014, having played a total of 386 matches and scoring 111 goals.

The first game at Sixfields was played on 15th October 1994, in a
1-1 draw with Barnet in front of a capacity crowd. Sixfields was an all seater ground with a total capacity of 7,798. The other three options are the names of homegrounds of Premier League sides.

The Nationwide Building society were the main sponsors of the club between the years 1998 to 2007. Previous sponsors included TNT Ipec, Costain, Van Aid and Lotto.

Answer: George Best

The match took place on 7th February 1970 at Northampton, in the 5th Round of the FA Cup. United started rather sluggishly and struggled for the first twenty minutes. After that George Best run riot and scored six times. The other two goals were scored by Brian Kidd. The match finished 8-2. The Northampton scorers were Frank Large and Richard 'Dixie' McNeil.

7. What was the name of the ground that Northampton Town used as its home for 97 years until 1994?

Answer: County Ground

The club was formed in 1897 and played at the Country ground until 1994.
Northampton had a lot of ups and downs during their long history. The pinnacle of the club's history cane in 1965 when they gained promotion to Division One, which was the highest division at the time. They only played one season in the top as they were relegated in 1966, finishing in 21st place out of 22 teams.

Answer: Martin Aldridge

The inaugural game at Sixfields was played on 15th October 15 1994 in Division Three. The opponents on that day was Barnet and the match ended in a 1-1 draw, with striker Martin Aldridge scoring the first goal at the new stadium. It was played in front of a capacity crowd.

9. Who scored the winning goal against Swansea City in the 1997 Division 3 play-off final?

Answer: John Frain

He scored the goal from a re-taken free kick, deep into stoppage time. The game was played at Wembley Stadium, London, in front of 46,804 spectators on 24th May. Northampton Town had finished in fourth place in the regular season. In the plays-offs they beat Cardiff City 1-0 away and 3-2 at home. Swansea had beaten beat Chester City.

Answer: Paul Harsley

This was Cobblers' first home win since the 3-0 win over Port Vale on 23rd November 2002. Midfielder Paul Harsley played for two seasons with Northampton Town. During that time he played 59 times and scored 2 goals. He won the club's Best Player Award. He has started his career in 1995 and played a total of 500 league games, scoring 44 goals. After his playing career was ended he started managing football teams.
