"The Amazing Race 38" [4] Trivia Quiz

Teams departed on their seventh leg of the race in the middle of the night and were told that they would have to make their way-- by plane-- to the capital city of Romania, Bucharest. All teams had to head from Split, Croatia, booking travel themselves at Smokvina Travel, to the heart of Europe, and from there they needed to travel to the southwestern town of Clinceni to locate its airfield.

It was there that racers found a Road Block, and with this, one member of each team took the highest tandem skydive in "Amazing Race" history, dropping more than four kilometres and returning back to their partners on the ground. Joseph, Tucker, Taylor, Jas, Paige, Chelsie, and Natalie completed this task.

Answer: Sheep

Once teams reunited post-skydive, racers didn't need to go far. Proceeding on foot, teams had to locate a nearby marked sheep field across the street from their skydiving airfield. There, they would have to join locals in herding sheep, maneuvering five sheep marked in blue paint so that they were corralled and separated in a secondary pen, split from the rest of their flock. Doing this would allow teams to get their next clue and the keys to their vehicles.

Answer: Pontoon boat

After the sheep herding task, racers needed to drive themselves deeper into rural Romania to locate Debarcader Lebada, part of Southern Romania's Comana Natural Park. Upon arriving, racers would discover that their next clue box would be positioned out in the swampy waters of the Neajlov River Delta. To get there, teams needed to build their own rudimentary pontoon boats, paddling themselves out when they felt comfortable to do so, to get at their next envelope.

Answer: Milk

The final challenge of Leg 7 was the Detour, and racers had to drive themselves through Comana to complete either 'Brick Builder' or 'Mask Maker'. Those finishing 'Brick Builder' had to make chirpici, or local mudbricks, out of clay, straw, manure, and water, joining locals in completing their chores by packing a mold and making ten perfect bricks to the approval of a builder. Those who didn't want to get their hands dirty could instead finish 'Mask Maker' by creating distinctive Romanian winter masks, handcrafting them to replicate two examples and get their next clue.

Tucker and Eric, Joseph and Adam, Jas and Jag, Kyland and Taylor, Jack and Chelsie, and Natalie and Stephanie completed the former while only Izzy and Paige completed the latter.

Leaving the Detour, teams needed to drive themselves into the Romanian capital of Bucharest to locate Carol Park in the heart of the city. Here, Tucker and Eric found the Pit Stop mat first, winning their fourth leg in a row by maintaining a lead despite flying to a new country.

This time, the brothers won $5,000 USD each in celebration of their win. After a tough leg with a number of small missteps, Natalie and Stephanie dropped to their lowest position of the race, checking in in seventh and finding themselves eliminated when the leg was said and done, breaking apart the three-team 'Trainwreck Alliance'.

Six teams departed from Carol Park early in the day in their eighth leg not knowing that they would have a long series of tasks through the Romanian capital. To begin, they had to proceed by any means (except taxi) to Herastrau Park, the city's largest green space. It was here that teams kicked off on a series of Expedia Experiences that commenced with a Road Block, and for this task, they had to have one racer go on an Easter egg hunt.

Eric, Jag, Kyland, Adam, Izzy, and Chelsie first had to locate an egg, amongst many detailed eggs, in the park that matched a giant egg on display. When located, they then had to roll the large egg to a giant chicken who would verify their result and hand over their next clue, a postcard.

Following their postcard clues to the destination depicted, the road in front of the Palace of the Parliament, racers located their Detour clue box and a choice between 'Find the Beat' or 'Hit the Note'. Both of these involved a cultural experience for visitors to Bucharest, but the former had teams learning the steps of a complex choreographed folk dance and the latter had them constructing a pair of nai (or traditional pan flutes), with which they could play a song.

Teams split down the middle for this with Jas and Jag, Kyland and Taylor, and Joseph and Adam heading to 'Find the Beat' while Tucker and Eric, Jack and Chelsie, and Izzy and Paige 'Hit the Note'.

Over the course of the race's eighth leg, the Express Passes, as of yet unused, needed to be handed in or else they would expire, and because of this, Jas and Jag used theirs to skip the Easter egg Road Block while Kyland and Taylor held out for the Detour task, skipping having to do either of the two choices.

It allowed both teams to retain healthy positions heading through this particular urban leg and still resulted in them having to travel around completing Expedia-aligned activities.

Answer: Sausages

Finishing out the Detour, racers had to proceed to the Green Hours Jazz & Theatre Café for one last challenge in their eighth leg, making their way there on foot to find an active Route Info task. Here, racers needed to make twenty small, heavily-seasoned ground meat sausages known as mici, rolling them by hand to the approval of the restaurant owner. Once they grilled one of them up (each), they had to eat them to get their last clue.

Answer: Joseph and Adam

Once racers were served up their last clue for their mici task, they had to race by taxi to the eighth Pit Stop at the Mogosoaia Palace, northeast of Bucharest. Although they left the final task in second place, Jas and Jag were able to make up ground during the taxi ride to win the leg, taking their third win of the race and claiming a five-night trip for two to Bermuda courtesy of Expedia.

Falling behind during the Road Block and unable to keep up with the pack, it was Joseph and Adam who arrived in an unexpected last place in this leg. Fortunately, the brothers landed there on the race's sole non-elimination mat and they were spared from going home, though they would need to face a Speed Bump in the following leg.
