Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams started Leg 11 with the instruction to take which means of transportation from Milan, Italy to Paris, France?

Answer: Plane

Racers had to head out from their tenth Pit Stop in the small town of Corbetto, Italy, just on the outskirts of Milan, as they started into their penultimate leg, and at the beginning of this string of tasks they were told to book themselves flights that would get them into the French capital of Paris.

This started when teams checked into the tenth Pit Stop as Phil presented them with phones loaded with the Expedia app, and from here, they could book their hotel stay and plane tickets in one fell swoop.

As a result, all four teams took the same flight the next morning and hit the ground running.
2. One task in Leg 11 had teams performing which famous dance at the Moulin Rouge?

Answer: The Can-Can

To start their day in Paris, racers needed to find their way by cab to the world-famous Moulin Rouge for their first task. Here, teams headed inside to join the burlesque performers of the theatre, learning the choreography for their famous can-can, dressing the part, and hitting the main stage to perform it all with the backing ensemble. If their judges approved, they'd get their next clue and keep on racing.

Following this task, racers needed to navigate their way through Paris to the plaza in front of the Notre-Dame Cathedral to locate their next clue box.
3. For their Road Block in Paris, racers had to type a poem in which of the following?

Answer: Braille

Racers' visit to Notre-Dame was short-lived as they were instructed to take another taxi, this time to the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles, and this is where they ripped open the clue for their Leg 11 Road Block task. In this challenge, the selected racers (Jas, Taylor, Joseph, and Izzy) needed to 'know their type', transcribing the Emma Lazarus poem "The New Colossus" from the provided English text into Braille using nothing more than a Perkins Braille typewriter and an alphabet key. If they could figure out how to operate the machine and make a full, perfect copy, they could get their next clue.
4. During the Scramble encountered in Paris, racers had to assemble a statuette using pieces found at replicas of which of these iconic landmarks?

Answer: The Statue of Liberty

Leaving the Road Block, racers opened a clue that told them they would be partaking in a Parisian Scramble, sending them to several locations, in any order, to overcome their challenge. Their Road Block was a clue that had them on the hunt for several replicas of the Statue of Liberty, specifically the ones located at the Pont de Grenelle (on Île aux Cygnes), in Jardin du Luxembourg, and inside La Musée des Arts et Métiers.

At each of these three locations, racers could pick up pieces of a model which, when combined, would depict their next Pit Stop.
5. Which team was eliminated at the end of the penultimate leg of the race (in Paris)?

Answer: Izzy and Paige

If racers could find their three Statue of Liberty replicas around Paris, they would get three pieces of a puzzle depicting La Place du Trocadéro, a site overlooking the Eiffel Tower on the edge of the Seine. Locating this and heading there would allow them to proceed to Phil and the final Pit Stop of the race for a chance to collect a spot in the finale. Managing to keep ahead of the group for the leg, Jas and Jag managed to hold onto their string of first place wins, taking their sixth of the competition with a healthy lead and winning a trip to Fiji from Expedia.

When all was said and done Izzy and Paige made it to the mat last, placing fourth in a footrace to the mat, and they failed to make it to the finale.
6. Racers started their final leg by visiting what New York City landmark for a rappelling task?

Answer: Empire State Building

The final three teams departed from Paris and hopped onto the same flight back across the Atlantic headed for New York City, their final destination city of the race. Arriving there, they hopped into cabs and rushed onward to the Empire State Building to open clues for a daring early task.

Here, at the iconic landmark, both team members had to strap in at the top of the skyscraper and rappel down thirteen storeys from the spire, more than 1,200 feet up, from the 103rd floor to the 90th. Once both racers finished the descent they could keep on racing.
7. In the final leg, racers had to deliver which of these to the Sesame Workshop?

Answer: Cookies

Leaving the Empire State Building, teams had to locate Epices Bakery in the Upper West Side, hopping in their cabs and heading towards Central Park West. Here, racers had to collect a waiting box of cookies and deliver them to Sesame Street. By this, it was meant that they needed to locate 1900 Broadway's fourth floor, six blocks away at the Sesame Workshop, to deliver their special package to none other than Cookie Monster, himself. If they could make this delivery, Oscar the Grouch would be responsible for handing off teams' next clue with which they could keep racing.
8. In one of their final tasks, racers were required to collect bolts of fabric and provide them to a waiting student in which New York City region?

Answer: Garment District

Leaving the Sesame Workshop, racers made their way to the Spandex House in New York's Garment District for another delivery task, this one involving the neighbourhood's famous fashion industry. Here, racers would need to pick up an order form with five different fabric swatches on it. Using this, they had to fulfill the order, locating the proper bolts of fabric and loading all sixteen of them onto two carts, then delivering them through New York's busy streets to a waiting student at the Feldman Center, a mile away at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

A correctly-fulfilled order resulted in another clue.
9. The race's final task, which teams found in Brooklyn, had them completing which of these?

Answer: A crossword

Racers had to cross Manhattan and proceed to Brooklyn for their final task of the race, and this one not only tested their puzzle skills, but their recollections of all pasts tasks, locations, phrases, and events of the race. Finding their way to Seret Studios in Greenpoint, racers were let into the warehouse there to find a massive crossword puzzle, projected on the wall for them.

Here, teams were given all the letters and all the clues; they just needed to put them into the right spots. If they could do this, certain letters would be revealed to them as integral to their last destination, and if they could unscramble them, they could get their final clue.
10. Which team won "The Amazing Race 38"?

Answer: Jas and Jag

If racers could puzzle out their final challenge and solve the subsequent jumble, they would receive the intel that their finish line could be found at Yankee Stadium, one last long taxi ride through the city, where one team of the three would will the million dollar prize.

At long last, after twelve legs taking teams all around Europe and back to the United States, it was Jas and Jag who raced out onto centerfield and landed in front of Phil in first place, solidifying their victory and claiming the big prize.

They were followed by Kyland and Taylor in second place and Joseph and Adam in third.
